Late 1930s - Gellert Grindelwald begins his rise to power, set against the backdrop of the Muggle Second World War. c

1945 - Albus Dumbledore defeats Gellert Grindelwald, ending his reign of terror. c

1980 - Millicent Bagnold becomes Minister of Magic. c

31 Oct 1981 - Lord Voldemort is defeated for the first time when he fails to murder infant Harry Potter. c

Mar - May 1988 - Millicent Bagnold's Tour of Britain and Ireland - Minister for Magic Millicent Bagnold leads a delegation of Ministry officials on a two-month tour of Wizarding Britain and Ireland. ao

During the Series

1 Sep 1991 - Harry Potter and his friends arrive at Hogwarts for the first time. c

22 Aug 1994 - The final match of the 1994 Quidditch World Cup takes place. Afterwards, a Death Eater riot breaks out, which ends when the Death Eaters scatter after someone casts a Dark Mark overhead. c

31 Oct 1994 - The Triwizard Tournament begins at Hogwarts. c

21 Dec 1994 - Auror Tait Aldridge is murdered, presumably by Runespoor smugglers. ao

24 Jun 1995 - A student dies during the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament, amidst rumors of Voldemort's return. c

18 Jun 1996 - The Battle of Department of Mysteries takes place. Voldemort is revealed to the public and the Second Wizarding War officially begins. c

Jun 1997 - Albus Dumbledore is murdered by Severus Snape after Death Eaters manage to infiltrate Hogwarts Castle.

1 Aug 1997 - The Fall of the Ministry - Lord Voldemort and his followers stage a silent coup of the Ministry. Rufus Scrimgeour is said to have quietly retired, and Pius Thicknesse is instated as Minister. From here on out, Ministry policy towards Muggleborns is drastically changed. c

2 May 1998 - The Battle of Hogwarts - In which 50 people died defending Hogwarts castle from He-Who-Was-Not-Often-Named and his Death Eaters. In this battle, Harry Potter who was only 17 kills Lord Voldemort. c

29 Jun 1998 - Kingsley Shacklebolt becomes Minister of Magic and begins sweeping reforms. ao

2 Sep 1998 - Hogwarts Resumes - Hogwarts School resumes as usual, although still somewhat battered. Minerva McGonagall is the new Headmistress. ao

2 May 1999 - The First Remembering Day - On the one year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, many mourners, well-wishers and tourists visit Hogwarts castle to pay their respects, and to drink deeply to the victory and sacrifices. Those who took part in the battle tell their stories, or their stories are told by friends or family members. At sundown, the Ministry declares Remembering Day an official holiday. ao

4 Jun 2008 - Headmaster Greyfriar resigns and the school governors of Hogwarts select Analiza Snark to replace him. [4]

14 Jun 2008 - Hogwarts Term Ends - With the ending of the spring term, the Hogwarts Express travels from Hogsmeade to London. [5]

26 Jun 2008 - A female Runespoor is turned loose in Diagon Alley. [6]

6 Aug 2008 - Aileen Reid returns home from her excavation earlier than expected after a curse begins making members of her team ill. [7]

8 Aug 2008 - Akiva Katz Kidnapping - Akiva Katz is kidnapped by Cináed Tawse. [8]

16-17 Aug 2008 - The 2008 Woodcroft Festival takes place in Hogsmeade. [9]

12 Jan 2009 - Tamis Raynor ends up in a Muggle hospital after she duels Cináed Tawse. [24]

1 Feb 2009 - Ava Grosvenor is murdered in the Forbidden Forest. [25]

28 Feb 2009 - In an effort to raise awareness about their cause, SAWS hosts two speakers at Hogwarts who describe what to do in case of werewolf attacks. [26]

16 Mar 2009 - After a weeks-long stakeout, Jonas Trevelyan and Adon Eleor prevent an attempt on diplomat Azize Mulogo's life and arrest famed assassin Azorma Hyskos. The telephone booth that serves as the Visitor's Entrance to the Ministry is an unfortunate casualty. [28]

5 Apr 2009 Macduff vs Ministry - Dugan Macduff is placed on the Most Wanted Wizards list after threatening the family of Auror Edward Pratt. [29]

7 Apr 2009 - Dugan Macduff kidnaps Ministry employee Colin Downer. [30]

13 Apr 13, 2009 - Edward Pratt receives a message summoning him to his parents' home, only to discover that they have been murdered by Dugan Macduff. [31]

22 Nov 2009 - Minerva McGonagall becomes the new Headmistress at Hogwarts after Herschel Reid resigns. [47]

28 Nov 2009 - Dreogan Eleor, the head of the Muggle Affairs Office, goes missing after he is kidnapped outside his home. [48]

2 Jan 2010 - The International Society of Wizarding Arts' annual opera ends in tragedy when many of the leading performers are discovered hanged on stage near the end of intermission. [50]

Corpus Inversus - A murdered goblin is discovered by Muggles at the Bank of England. [53]
Boom Goes the World - A large explosion rocks the Godric's Hollow graveyard. [54]

2 Feb 2010 - Lawrence Musgrave is freed from Azkaban. [55]

20 Feb 2010 - Theodora Kingstreet returns to Azkaban when she is finally brought to justice for her treasonous conspiracies against the Ministry. [56]

1 Mar 2010 - Arthur Lemon, a madman convicted of murdering Raine Almasy's twin, escapes from St. Mungo's with the help of Michael Dark. [57]

9 Mar 2010 - Dementors Dementing - A dementor attack is reporting in Northumberland -- the first in nearly twelve years. [58]

2011

20 Jul 2011 - Tale of Greer Grant - Kurby Bagnold and Fauna Blake investigate recent werewolf attacks in Scotland. They discover an unregistered werewolf in an unlikely place. [59]

3 Aug 2011 - Pentrals Possessing - Abigail Reid escapes from her yearlong imprisonment in the clutches of Lorelei and Leander Hunt and Floos to the Ministry. [60] [61]

4 Aug 2011 - Pentrals Possessing - After a long period of quiet, Dementors are reported surging south, following in the wake of a strange silvery mist that seemed to attack people left in its wake. [62]

5 Aug 2011 - Pentrals Possessing - The Daily Prophet reports that the strange dementor activity the previous day were the result of dark magic. Lori and Lee Lily had kidnapped young squib Abigail Reid and kept her imprisoned in their country manor. When she'd escaped, the strange silvery mist had also been released. [63]

17 Oct 2011 - Pentrals Possessing & Dementors Dementing Drawn by all of the pentral victims recovering in St. Mungo's, Dementors attack the magical hospital late at night. [64]

17 Dec 2011 - Tale of Greer Grant - Iain and Annabel Grant are convicted for negligence after their werewolf daughter Greer attacked Muggles earlier that year, but are not sentenced to Azkaban. The Wizengamot orders that Greer must return to Hogwarts as a student at the start of the next school year.

2012

3 Jan 2012 - Magical Measles - A strange magical disease, Praecantatio Deliquus, began spreading throughout the magical community in the U.K., causing wixes to temporarily lose their magic.

9 Jan 2012 - Wolf Moon - In the same night, Jebediah Layton attacks a werewolf safehouse and Aviad Cohen orchestrates a deadly direwolf attack on Alec Carter.

13 Jan 2012 - Murder by Mail - Attacks on members of the Wizengamot begin, with deadly letters arriving in the mail. These attacks will eventually be attributed to Azkaban inmate Theodora Kingstreet

31 Jan 2012 - Iona Ballentyne, the new werewolf head of the Werewolf Wing, was featured in the Daily Prophet following the attacks earlier in January. [65]

6 Feb 2012 - Minister of Magic Glass begins an inquiry into werewolf safehouse security. [66]

6 Mar 2012 - Pentrals Possessing - Solomon Carstairs and Jonas Trevelyan visit Wesley Wold's childhood home, where they are surprised by Lorelei Hunt and her pentrals.
