Remembering Day
From Absit Omen Lexicon
The first Remembering Day was an informal, spontaneous gathering in Hogsmeade consisting of mourners and well-wishers of the wizarding community. The notion caught on, and in each year since, Remembering Day gatherings are held all over the Wizarding World on May 2, to commemorate the The Battle of Hogwarts and the end of a time of oppression and fear.
The largest celebration is always in Hogsmeade, Britain's oldest Wizarding village and the site of the remembered event.
Typical Remembering Day events include...
- Memorial ceremonies
- Theatrical re-enactments of the battle
- Tours of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade
- Speeches, and story-tellings from families and survivors
- Parties, fireworks & bonfires
