When Iain Grant and Annabel Grant, the Muggleborn parents of Greer Grant, decline to register their daughter with the Werewolf Registry tragedy transpires. Greer escapes her home-fashioned enclosure and attacked three muggles, resulting in one death and two injuries.

The ensuing Wizengamot decision has caused controversy.

Kurby Bagnold drags Fauna Blake along to help him investigate a series of werewolf attacks near Aberfoyle, Scotland, where three different Muggles have been attacked since February. The pair discover that a young witch, Greer Grant, is an unregistered werewolf. Greer’s parents are arrested for willfully failing to register their daughter and the whole family is brought to the Ministry in custody.

Daily ProphetGrants Sentenced in Werewolf Attacks

The Grants chose not to submit their daughter (referred to as Jane to protect her privacy) to the Werewolf Registry following her succumbing to the Lycanthropy curse 2009. Instead, the Grants pulled Jane from Hogwarts and attempted to contain her transformations in their cellar. She escaped and was found to have caused the casualties. The charges were lowered from The Department of Magical Law Enforcement’s initial indictment of one count of murder, two counts of bodily harm caused to a Muggle (colloquially known as Muggle-baiting). The same day the article comes out and two days following the verdict, associated parties talk shop at the Ministry holiday party. Harper Graves reveals that a pair of silver handcuffs had been malevolently left in her office, which rang too familiar to the Plot:Tenacious Trouble incident at Hogwarts a few months before.
