Azkaban Prison Break
11 June 2004
Also known as the Azkaban Uprising. Due to lax security procedures, several Death Eaters overpower their Hitwizard guards at Azkaban Prison and take over the fortress. A counterattack is led by Jason MacDonell, Head of the Auror Office, and involves most Aurors of the day. The fortress is retaken, with ten Aurors killed, as well as several Death Eaters, including Antonin Dolohov and Augustus Rookwood. Badly injured in the battle, MacDonell retires and is succeeded by Tamis Raynor.
Theodora Kingstreet was a prisoner at the time of the break, but did not participate. She sat in her cell and did not take up arms or attempt to flee. She used this fact in her early release hearing.
Some consider the Azkaban Uprising to be the final engagement of the Second Wizarding War.
