Ambitious, Cunning and as her name suggests, Snarky, Analiza Snark is the former Headmistress of Hogwarts and the former Head of the Department of Mysteries. She wheeled and dealed her way into her current position after Knox Greyfriar resigned, using her affluence and political power to get the spot. She immediately made enemies by expelling Olivia Foley for being afflicted with lycanthropy. This action would effectively lead to the formation of SAWS and the Lycan Legislature. After expelling Darcy Bloxham for the Infirmary Fire (AKA Darcy's Fire), she hatched a plan to hire Devlin Matthews to frame SAWS for various crimes in hopes that they would be forced to disband.
She also has her hand in the Egyptian Dagger plot, joining João Encantado to search for the missing Cult of the Phoenix artifacts. It appears that she was cursed by an ancient Egyptian tomb curse that she attributes to the Cult of the Phoenix, which appears to be her main reason for joining Joao. However, there is a chance that the dagger will help Analiza with her personal pet project, Project 492 which was being researched by her and some former comrades from Department 9. Unfortunately, this obsession might have landed her in far more trouble then even this slippery snake can escape.

During the Summer of 2009, Analiza disappeared without a trace while on a trip to Egypt. Those who knew her theorize that it might have to do with the curse she received years ago while in Egypt and possibly to do with the Cult of the Phoenix.

- Little Known Fact: Analiza has a weird obsession with her hands. She is constantly checking her nails, moisturizing and only wears certain rings (a collection of skull and snake rings given to her by her step-mother, Grace). Her nails are always long, manicured and slightly sharpened.
Egyptian Curse
In 1992, daunted by the prospect of giving up her career to be a single mother, Analiza chose to leave her son Alexander Snark with his maternal grandparents to be raised alongside his uncle Gavin Snark. She then signed up for an internship with the formidable and highly respected Unspeakable, Josephina Noirtu, alongside Marietta Grimlish. The internship would take them all over the world to explore and learn about ancient magic and the source of modern magic. A few years into the 7 year trip, the group was traveling through Egypt, studying the cradle of magic. Analiza was, in particular, drawn to rumors of an ancient cult surrounding dark magic and the very fabric of magic itself. They found a tomb that was supposed to be owned by one of the leaders of this cult, and Josephine forbid them to try and break the curses around the entrance. Undaunted and driven by something deep within her, Analiza snuck out with Marietta in tow and the two attempted to break into the tomb without Noirtu's assistance.
What happened next is still fuzzy in the woman's mind, but Analiza must have triggered some ancient, magical deterrence device because a strange, dementor like creature arose and attempted to grab her. She felt her soul being sucked from her body when Marietta managed to escape and bring Noirtu to her aid. Noirtu managed to blast back the creature with a powerful patronus and reseal the tomb. Analiza doesn't know what happened next because she fainted and awoke several days later. Since then, her personality has become far colder and more ruthless, and she has been marked with a strange magical burn shaped like a hand on her shoulder that seems not only to not be healing, but to be growing.
Aileen Reid's discovery of the Egyptian Dagger brought up a renewed interest in what had happened all those years ago. She recognized some of the markings on the dagger as matching some in the tomb. She joined forces with João Encantado to procure and study the dagger. When she learned little from it, she decided to use a fortuitous school trip to Egypt to return to the tomb. While there, she was attacked by an unknown man who spirited away with her body. She has not been seen since and there was no evidence left behind.
It should be noted that a few years back, while still working for the DoM, Analiza discovered and stole a prophecy regarding herself. When she finally got the guts to listen to it, she heard the following:
She who bears the mark of the ancients... who, like Prometheus, ventures too close to the sun...shall be dashed upon the alter of the undying under the gaze of the twin stars ... she shall be reborn into the void, a vessel... her legacy, her demise...
What this has to do with her disappearance and the Cult of the Phoenix remains to be seen.
Romantic History
Analiza's romantic history has been wraught with drama and betrayal.
Her first boyfriend and the father of her child was a man named James Ashwin. They met at Hogwarts when he was in his 7th and her in her 6th year. Despite major personality differences, the two somehow managed to fall in love between the fighting. Their relationship was tumultuous, filled with accusations of cheating and riddled with break ups and make ups. The final blow to their relationship came when Analiza learned she was pregnant and that it could only be James's child. James was spooked and was unwilling to give up his life of freedom and debauchery to raise a child. He promptly disappeared and has only popped up now and then to watch his son from afar.
After this tragic mess of a relationship, Analiza avoided actual relationships for a long time. She did have an off and on, friends with benefits type affair with Marcus Annwyl. She began to feel more than just sexual feelings for him and was crushed when he didn't return the feelings. Betrayed, she ended up flirting with Lukas Quinn in front of him during a 'date' gone awry. While this destroyed her chance to get Annwyl back, she did end up starting a relationship with the handsome, laid-back Quinn. THIS relationship, however, went bad when Quinn was attacked by a werewolf and reportedly killed. In reality, he suffered a blow to the head that caused amnesia for the last couple of years, erasing Analiza from his head. Uncertain if she had the strength to deal with these issues, Analiza chose to let him recover his memories naturally, figuring that if he did and he loved her, he would find her. He never did.
The most recent relationship, before her disappearance, was with Kevin Hargrove, a charming and mischievous Hitwizard. The two met many years ago, around the time she started her fling with Marcus and became fast friends after a rocky start. To this day, Kevin is the only one that Analiza feels not only understands but likes her sharp edged personality. Eager not to lose a real friendship, despite the obvious spark between them, Analiza chose not to do anything more than flirt with her best mate. He followed suit, having been hurt many times in the past. He moved to France in 2002, giving her some reprieve but also leaving her lonely and unsupported. They kept in contact for years until he decided to return to England in 2008. They re-sparked their friendship and found the old adage of "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" to be true, as they were even more attracted to each other then before. Unfortunately, before their relationship could truly gain traction, Analiza disappeared. Kevin is likely the only person looking for her.
