Students Against Werewolf Segregation! Astrid O'Malley, a Hogwarts student known for her activist causes du jour, becomes outraged that the new Headmistress, Analiza Snark, expels Olivia Foley from Hogwarts because she is a werewolf. Students rally behind Astrid and SAWS, not only on behalf of Ollie's plight but for the sake of werewolves everywhere.

Things are complicated, of course. Darcy Bloxham, meaning well, sets a dangerous fire and SAWS gets blamed. This inspires the Headmistress to hire Devlin Matthews and his gang to sabotage SAWS from within. When the former Headmaster is attacked in mid-October and becomes a werewolf himself, all are shaken, and SAWS temporarily disbands.

On Halloween, Devlin spikes the punch with a polyjuice potion that turns people into wolf-hybrids, and SAWS is blamed again. This time the authorities investigate SAWS to find out if they're really the ones starting fires and pulling dangerous pranks. They question two students, and the Headmistress makes a scapegoat out of Madeline Pratt by suspending her for evidence linking her to the Halloween prank (evidence that Devlin planted, of course).

However, SAWS makes progress in December when Margaret Groust presents their side of the story in a Daily Prophet article, printing the letters they sent in and interviewing SAWS member Fauna Blake. Later that month SAWS pulls off a successful Holiday Mixer at the Ministry, where werewolves speak about their experiences among supporters (and a few naysayers).

Once back at Hogwarts, SAWS helped organize the Valentine's Day Ball, splitting up the profits between the Hogwarts clubs and setting aside some money to honor Ava Grosvenor. They also arranged an optional assembly in late February, where Vlad Dragulia and Kurby Bagnold offered differing opinions on how to survive a werewolf attack. The March werewolf attacks caused another dry spell, but in May they banded together one last time during the school year to discuss summer plans.

Fauna Blake has graduated from Hogwarts and Sophie Flickwick is helping to lead in the fall '09.

The club had a tenuous existence at the school when the last Headmistress Analiza Snark was there. However, things may be changing for SAWS now that the new Headmaster, Herschel Reid has arrived and has welcomed Ollie and other werewolves back to Hogwarts.

In January 2012, Zeta Pepper restarts the club.

Who?

  • Hogwarts students and staff can be present at meetings, or oppose the goals or existence of the club.

She states that though Ollie has had no past record of violence, her very presence is a risk to the school. On the Hogwarts Express, Astrid has started a student Werewolf support group, which Fauna joins, telling her about Ollie's expulsion. Vienna listens in and then gleefully plays devil's advocate. A group gathers in the compartment and argues over the situation.

In a rage, Covadonga storms into Marcus Annwyl's office with Simon Reid on her heels, demanding an explanation. They discuss ways they can help, and Marcus brings up the new werewolf legislation he's been working on. Knox Greyfriar joins in on their conversation.
Hell Hath No Fury

From outside the office her employees’ eyes went wide when all of the sudden they heard what sounded like a mix between a bark, a growl, a roar, and a shriek. Poking their heads out of their doors and up from the cubicles in the center of the department like meerkats to see what beast on the great green world could make such a noise, they were sent scurrying away when a hot cup of coffee shot out of their DH’s open office door overhead, bursting into an untold amount of shards as it collided with the opposing side of the hall. This was followed by a huge inhalation and a blood-curdling scream as a full pot flew hard and fast in the same path as the mug, smacking someone (who had prematurely thought he was in the clear) on the side of the head before meeting the same fate as the aforementioned mug.Covadonga Gertrudis

Professor Mainwaring tries to persuade Headmistress Snark to change her mind about Ollie's expulsion. She won't budge, and soon after Professor Mainwaring leaves, Pax Wintergreen shows up at her office to tell her that the Infirmary is on fire!

"I will not lie to the parents about what their children are exposed to and I can promise you that the previous lies this administration told have done irreparable damage to the trust the community at large has in this school. It will not be a simple 'don't worry we can keep them safe' situation. We will lose dozens of students, quite a chunk of funding considering some of the most outraged parents are the ones keeping us in food and supplies, and it will take quite a while before trust is able to be regained. Darcy Bloxham casts fiendfyre on the Infirmary to make a statement about Ollie's expulsion, and other students get caught up in the mess! Analiza Snark and Tulojow Nagde manage to put out the fire, though the Infirmary is destroyed. When Figaro Sellaphix points the finger at Darcy, she admits she was the one who started the fire.
Never Shout Fire in an Occupied Theatre!

She bit her lip and pointed her wand at the bed. No one was there to stop her. Her eyes flickered back up to her statement, and with a final wave of courage she cast her spell. A ball of ferocious flame shot from the end of her wand and sat square upon the bed, quickly expanding to lick up the hem of the sheet. "For Ollie," she whispered to herself, pouring her anger to the spell. It was as if a wall of heat slammed against her entire body. Perhaps she had overstepped herself, but consulting the darker books, but she knew her little Charms book sure as heck wouldn't get the point across. Serious steps had to be taken, and Darcy knew she was the only one who would or even could do so. She half expected to be whisked away to Azkaban right then. They discuss bringing in a guest speaker during one of Professor Mainwaring's lessons, so that students can hear about werewolves as something more than creatures to defend against. Students and a few professors meet in the hospital hut for the first SAWS meeting, where Astrid O'Malley brings up the next Hogsmeade trip, suggesting that they go on a field trip to meet a werewolf. Unfortunately, the meeting soon derails into an argument, with Sasha Schlagenweit questioning their ideas and claiming that they'll all get expelled. Figaro Sellaphix manages to interrupt the bickering somewhat, suggesting that they should write to the Daily Prophet and explain why Headmistress Snark made the wrong choice.

On the night of the full moon, when Knox Greyfriar and Vladislaus Dragulia are escorting three students back to the Hogwarts castle, a werewolf attacks (set loose by Cináed Tawse)! Students Sasha Schlagenweit and Beatrix Dark escape and the Capture Unit swoops in at the last minute to subdue the werewolf, but not before Knox suffers a bite. "Solaris Maximus!" A pillar of light shone from Knox's wand like the head lamp of a giant steam train. For a moment, everything was white and blinding. Blinking through the light, Knox saw it crashing through the thinnest of the saplings.

The Halloween dance begins innocently enough, but Devlin Matthews soon sets his plan of sabotage in action. First he spikes the punch with polyjuice potion laced with wolf hairs, turning all those unfortunate enough to drink it into wolf-human hybrids! Then, in his wolf form, he knocks over a row of candles and starts a fire! Analiza Snark blames SAWS, and one member in particular, Madeline Pratt, for these disasters.

Because of the recent dangerous pranks at Hogwarts, Level Two of the Ministry is called in to investigate. Analiza Snark suggests that they first question SAWS, and points the Aurors to Fauna Blake and Madeline Pratt. Fauna is escorted out of her Charms class and questioned in the hospital hut.
An Unwelcome Interruption

Fauna slowly stood up and began walking through the maze of desks, eyes glued to the floor as if she expected a foot to trip her, or devil’s snare to wrap around her leg and drag her out the window. The devil’s snare didn’t sound so bad if it meant she could avoid the red robed figure at the end of the maze. Every stifled giggle and murmur made her want to melt into the walls. Fauna begins the last SAWS meeting of the school year. They discuss plans for doing surveys to get the public's opinion on werewolves, involving the wireless, and getting a series of Daily Prophet articles started on the RCMC.

Less than a month after being held to keeping a secret, Figaro lets it loose in front of the whole school at dinner in the Great Hall: Zel Trumble is a werewolf. What ensues is a fight, mostly between the members of Hufflepuff House, with interventions from Gryffindors and Ravenclaws. Before the fight breaks up there are broken noses, Jelly Legs Jinxes, a rogue enchanted apple, and a fork sticking out of a leg. Professor Hagrid and Professor Sandusky break things up, but it's far from over. Because of this incident, many students receive detentions, and the fate of SAWS hangs in Headmaster Reid's hands. And Hufflepuff suffers dearly in terms of House Points.
