Charismatic, conniving and smart, Devlin Matthews is a young grifter, Ravenclaw alumni and former head of the Hogwarts Mafia (a gang of students who were involved in the more unsavory dealings in the school, like selling test answers, banned potions and contraband items). He was involved in several crimes during his time at and after Hogwarts, detailed below in Criminal history. During his final years at Hogwarts, Devlin was involved in a relationship with Fauna Blake that started as a bet between he and his ex Waker Nolan, who didn't believe he could have a relationship with a nice, normal girl, and became something more serious. Unfortunately, she found out the truth and he was arrested, so the two broke up. He took it quite badly but thankfully his ex Maeve Whitman came back into his life to pick up the pieces.
He discovered in his 7th year that his biological father was Knox Greyfriar, who he now lives with after being kicked out of his previous home because he was expelled from school for his crimes (see Criminal History). In the summer of 2009, Dev's new family grew when his half-sister Lucy Matthews showed up with a Hogwarts acceptance letter. It turns out she was a muggleborn witch and Knoxx took her in as he did with Devlin. After getting expelled, Devlin worked as a bartender at Calaveras as a cover job while working as a spy for the Ministry in Theodora Kingstreets organization. After Lucy's kidnapping in late 2009 and subsequent return, he finally admitted to the full spectrum of his crimes. However, since he helped the ministry arrest Kingstreet and kill Marc Donnelly, he was only sentenced to 6 months in Azkaban, which he started in March. Before he was incarcerated, he asked Maeve to marry him when he got out and then learned later in the month that she was 3 months pregnant with his twin children.
After his time in Azkaban, Devlin sobered up and matured enough to put crime behind him (for the most part). Realizing that his criminal record pretty much sealed away his chance at a normal life as a wizard, Devlin has began the arduous task of trying to reclaim his life in the muggle world. Over the Christmas of 2010, Devlin successfully obtained custody of Lucy from his father. Then, thanks to a generous offer from his best mate Alexander Snark, who had been going slowly insane from loneliness in his huge house since the disappearance of his mother Analiza Snark, Devlin and his small family moved into Snark Manor. With Alex playing nanny to the twins, Maeve was free to continue her job at the museum and Devlin has begun to attempt to finagle some sort of education in an attempt to go to university to study Law.
Currently
Devlin is spending most of his time studying and changing dirty nappies, much to his less savory former-friends horror.

Criminal History
He committed petty crimes as head of the group the The Mafia and did so under the guise of Jack Spade, pretending to be just another lackey himself. Other members include: Alexander Snark, Gavin Snark, Atticus Pennyapple, Callum Knight and Xavier Tawse.
In May 2008, after being hired as staff of Theodora Kingstreet, he provided her with a sample of Kyle Gibson's hair so that she could transform Marc Donnelly into the youth, via polyjuice, in order to commit the Remembering Day Murders. He would also run small smuggling operations and errands for Ms. Kingstreet in his off time from school.
Later in the year, he was approached by Headmistress Analiza Snark and paid to commit a series of vandalisms that could be blamed on SAWS in her attempt to disband the group. He would manage to create chaos at the Halloween Dance by slipping a new concentrated Polyjuice, made by Dazmond Wiedman, into the punch. The chaos was subsequently blamed on Madeline Pratt, an outspoken SAWS member.
He was then linked to Runespoor Smuggling when Kingstreet hired him to frame Moira Randall in The Imperfect Crime. He was caught and managed to bluff his way out of staying the holding cells, only to get kidnapped and tortured by Melanthe Grummen on orders by Kingstreet, in order to punish him for getting caught. Now disillusioned with his mentor, Devlin switched sides and agreed to be an informant for the Ministry in hopes of taking her down.
In November of 2009, Devlins sister Lucy Matthews was kidnapped by Marc Donnelly, under Kingstreets orders. Afer informing the ministry, Devlin met Dean Brison, an American hitwizard for hire, and they worked together to find his sister since he didn't fully trust the ministry. When they located her, there was a scuffle and Donnelly was killed. After Lucy was returned, Devlin came clean with the ministry and owned up to all of his crimes to relieve his conscious. He was sent to Azkaban for 6 months as an unwitting accomplice to murder.
