Vera Verto Vera Verto Transfiguration Vera Verto is the incantation of a Transfiguration spell used to transform an animal into a water goblet. Animals susceptible to this spell were specifically aves, rats, and felines.

This spell is moderately difficult to perform and can be disastrous if done wrong. Side effects include the goblet becoming furry or having a tail. Wand movement and posture were both very important for this spell, as Professor McGonagall noted when teaching her second-year class in September of 1992.

To perform the spell, one must tap the targeted animal three times sharply with their wand and then point their wand directly at the animal, incanting Vera Verto.

Taught in second year transfiguration and revised in fourth year.
Vipera Evanesca Vipera Evanesca Transfiguration Counter-Spells The Snake-Vanishing Spell (Vipera Evanesca) is a transfiguration spell that vanishes snakes. As such, it could be used as a counter-spell for the Snake Summons Spell, the fire to snake spell, or likely any other spell that produced snakes. Taught by fifth year Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts.
Incanto Activus Activation Charm Incanto Activus Charms Will activate a deactivated effect of an object, or an effect charmed or enchanted to only occur from an Activation Charm. Counter-charm of and is the Deactication Charm.
Akheta Age Detection Charm Akheta Charms Enchantments Can be used to determine the age of an object. As the color shifts through the spectrum and eventually stops, the spellcaster can use the final shade to estimate when the object was first created. Though it gives a good ballpark estimate, it can be almost impossible to estimate exactly. Many investigators match the colors to predetermined charts, but even these are not always precise and hard to determine, especially when getting into very small or very large units of time.

Linea Aetatis Age Line Spell Linea Aetatis... Charms Defensive Causes anyone below the specified age who crosses the line to be propelled backwards over it. If the offending wizard has used some means to magically alter his age, the line may also cause him to suffer the extremes of it (such as growing a beard after having taken an Aging Potion, or having one’s skin wrinkle if he tried an Aging Jinx), if the line’s caster is a sufficiently accomplished wizard. The spell’s duration depends on the intent of the caster, but is rarely less than twenty-four hours. It can last up to a month, after which it must be reinforced. Witches and wizards who have some skill with the spell might cast it on rooms in their homes which they do not wish their children to enter. Advanced to cast at all, Master to cast for longer periods of time and unfooled by aging enchantments or potions.

Stupefex Omnis All-Stunner Stupefex Omnis Charms Stuns multiple people simultaneously. A very powerful or experienced caster can pick and choose targets from a group; a less experienced caster will indiscriminately Stun everyone within range of the spell. The Stun effect lasts briefly (about a minute), substantially less than a normal Stunner.
Anchor Charm Anchor Charm La'angal Charms The anchor charm is used to anchor an object (usually one end of a string or rope) to a surface; the more skilled a caster, the more assured its hold. It is often used by Werewolf Hunters in India, in tandem with Tenacious Twine. Anchor charms are also popular with rock climbers.
Amato Animo Animato Animagus Animagus Spell Amato Animo Animato Animagus Charms Enchantments Spell used as part of the process of becoming an Animagus. The incantation has to be recited at sunrise and sundown, every day before the consumption of the Animagus Potion. The incantation is also recited just prior to the consumption of the potion, which has to take place just after a lightning storm starts. The incantation is recited while placing the wand's tip over one's heart.
Pertraho talus Ankle Grabber Hex Pertraho talus Charms Curses Defensive Hexes Once cast, the hex yanks the victim off their feet by the ankle in the direction of the caster. The caster raises their wand up and back or out to the side and behind to drag the victim in a direction. The stronger the cast and intention (and how experienced) the better the result. Beginners may only see victims feel a tug at an ankle. Advanced variations exist to grab both ankles simultaneously. Lasts for several seconds before dissipating. Can be cast on victims not seen but suspected.

Anti-Disapparition Jinx Anti-Disapparition Jinx Charms Jinxes Used to prevent Disapparition and/or Apparition in an area for a period. Presumably can be used to prevent an enemy from entering a defended area, or used to trap an enemy in an area. Its counterpart is the Anti-Apparition Charm
Anteoculatia Antler Charm Anteoculatia Charms Curses Jinxes Anteoculatia is the incantation of a charm that grows antlers on the head of the target.
Inflictum Mactabilis Antonin Dolohov’s Curse Inflictum Mactabilis Curses Causes the complete and permanent cessation of function of whatever it strikes (e.g. a limb would cease to function, internal organs would shut down). When spoken aloud, it is always fatal when it strikes the torso or head. Immediate effect.
Apparition Apparition Charms Apparition is a magical method of transportation. It is basically the magical action of travelling by having the user focus on a desired location in their mind. After the user is properly focused they then disappear from the current location and instantly reappear at the desired location. In short, Apparition is a form of teleportation. It is by far the fastest way to get to a desired destination, but is tricky to pull off correctly and disastrous if botched.

To Apparate:

  • Most wix require a wand to Apparate effectively.
  • The wix must picture clearly the location they're going and realize a focused and deliberate intent.
  • The wix spins or twists smartly in place and casts the spell mentally

Side-Along Apparition

  • With intent, a wix can Apparate themselves and someone holding close to them.
  • The passenger does not need to have the ability or consent to be Side-Alonged.

Risks

  • Unfocused or panicked Apparition can result in Splinching or ending up at the wrong place.
  • It is possible to Apparate a place a wix has never been, but can be risky.
  • Some wix experience nausea when Apparating.

Limitations

Aquaponic Spells Aquaponic Spells Sisterium Aquam / Aqua Fluensium Charms Enchantments The specialized family of aquaponic spells allows for the creation of 'hydro-farming' within a closed system by linking pots, tubes and plumbing together. At first appearance, Sisterium Aquam shuts off the flow and Auqa Fluensium starts the flow, but the spells are actually removing and adding elements to an aquatic network created during the enchanting process. Presumably, spells in this family can also modify other fluid systems with precise control when compared to other spells. Also utilized in magical aquaculture.
Ascendio Ascending Charm Ascendio Charms Ascendio is the incantation of a charm which flings the caster high into the air. The charm also works underwater, propelling the caster above the surface.

Taught in seventh year charms at Hogwarts.

Aura Perciperium Aura Sensing Spell Aura Perciperium Charms A wand-user uses the incantation to cast the spell. While the spell is being channeled, it reacts to nearby auras, the magical fields/feelings/breezes that every living thing and object emit. The reaction is signaled to the wand's holder via degrees of tactile, tingling, magical flutters or vibrations.

Living things have stronger auras than non living things. Enchanted objects have auras affected by the enchantment. The signal from the wand is stronger the closer you get.

The wand need not be pointed in any particular direction to provide feedback, but the wand can focus on an area if it's pointed.

Everyone and everything has a distinct aura, and an individuals aura can change over time. It takes an experienced user to be able to identify different subjects in this manner, but it's possible with practice.

In very crowded areas, the signals can become very intense and takes practice to filter out what's actually going on.

The spell must be channelled - that is, actively maintained by a concious castor. Advanced castors can maintain the spell without as much concentration as a less advanced castor. The spell cannot be maintained while another spell is cast.
Avifors Avifors Spell Avifors Transfiguration Jinxes The Avifors Spell is a transfiguration spell that transforms small objects and creatures into birds.

The spell is viewed as a jinx when used to transform certain creatures into birds.

The Avifors Spell can, at times, be a very complicated spell and some beginning Hogwarts students were known to struggle with it. One student nearly failed the class when he proved unable to transform objects into anything more than eggs. His cousin bragged about this.

This spell can also transform certain creatures into birds, like Dugbogs or Blast-Ended Skrewts.

It is taught in first year Transfiguration and revised in second year. It is published in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2.
Babbling Curse Babbling Curse The Babbling Curse is presumed to cause a person to babble whenever they try to speak.
Ferula Bandaging Charm Ferula Charms Healing Creates a bandage and a splint. The Bandaging Charm is a healing charm which conjures up bandages and wraps them around a wound, splinting any broken bones. The bandaging also eases pain.
Depulso Banishing Charm Depulso Charms Opposite to "Accio". Banishes the object the spell is performed on.
Barrier Line Barrier Line Unknown Charms Enchantments The line acts as a repelling barrier to those that don't qualify to pass. It recognises people by wand and can be attuned to specific wands to allow them through, provided they have their wands out. Anyone else who breaches the spell will be hurled backwards.
Obex Barrier Spell Obex Charms Defensive Creates a magical barrier that stops physical objects, but not magic. Used, for example, by wizards to protect themselves against gunshots or other projectile weapons. Enchanted projectiles may pass the barrier, but will usually slow. Physical objects with wills of their own (such as people trying to pass the barrier) may be able to struggle through eventually.
Sternumentum Malefico Bat-Bogey Hex Sternumentum Malefico Hexes Causes the target’s boogers to become batlike, crawling out of the victim’s nose and growing drastically in size to take flight. The hex itself acts only for a few seconds, though the resulting “bats” will flap around for ten minutes before disintegrating.
Battuo inflammata Battuo inflammata Battuo inflammata Charms Curses Defensive Like a firey battering ram, the curse can be used to burst open doors or push through obstacles. It will force objects out the way, burning them as it goes and appears like a jet of flame. Similar to Comcremo but does not wrap around the target but just forces against it. The more skilled the caster the more targeted it can be come and the greater distance it can travel.
Bedazzling Hex Bedazzling Hex Similar to a Disillusionment Charm, it can be used to conceal a person or an object. Is also used to make invisibility cloaks.
Brupestus Globuli Beetles to Buttons Brupestus Globuli Transfiguration Enchantments Turns beetles and insects like it, into simple buttons. Fancier beetles make fancier buttons. Wand movement required is a tight, complete spiral. Make contact with the beetle upon the final syllable.
Avis Bird-Conjuring Charm Avis This charm creates a flock of birds from the caster's wand. When coupled with Oppugno, it can be used offensively.
Confringo Blasting Curse Confringo Charms Curses Causes anything that the spell meets to explode in flames.
Pallens Bleaching Charm Pallens Transfiguration Almost superfluous in nature; a charm that bleaches a single nonliving, inorganic target completely of colour. The does not become white but a sad and lifeless shade of grey.
Capusangre Bleeding Hex Capusangre Hexes Causes the target to bleed from one or more points on the head. The weakest use will produce a mild nosebleed, whereas the strongest could make the target bleed voluminously from the ears, nose, eyes, and mouth simultaneously, causing unconsciousness in less than a minute. Lasts from a few minutes to an hour or more.
Obscuro Blindfold Jinx Obscuro Charms Jinxes Causes a blindfold to appear over the victim's eyes, obstructing his/her view of his/her surroundings.
Caecus Blinding Curse Caecus Charms Curses Causes temporary loss of sight, burning pain to the eyes. Lasts for a few seconds to several minutes. Repeated use will damage eyesight.
Staima Blood Flow Charm Staima Healing Causes blood flow from an injury to stop. Does not actually repair the damage, so while the victim will not suffer from blood loss (and the blood will, somewhat disconcertingly, continue to flow along the path of veins that have been opened, even if exposed to open air), he may still be susceptible to gangrene or infection. Lasts a few minutes before it must be re-cast.
Incendium Careulagilis Bluebell Flame Charm Incendium Careulagilis Charms Creates a blue flame that can be moved around without a source, even air. The flames can be sent away from the caster, then transported back to the hand of the caster, or even carried around in a container. The flames create light and heat, but do not actually burn. Lasts indefinitely or until dispelled.
Petrificus Totalus Body-Bind Curse Petrificus Totalus Charms Used to temporarily bind the victim's body in a position much like that of a soldier at attention; this spell does not restrict breathing or seeing, and the victim will usually fall to the ground.
Riddikulus Boggart-Banishing Charm Riddikulus Charms Counter-Spells Defensive A spell used when fighting a Boggart, "Riddikulus" forces the Boggart to take the appearance of an object upon which the caster is concentrating. When used correctly, this will be a humorous form.
Fervefacio Boiling Charm Fervefacio Charms Causes the heating of the target, boiling, though only on the target and not the air (unlike calefax). Most often used to boil water and other liquids, the larger the volume the more concentration and skill required.
Epoximise Bonding Spell Epoximise Transfiguration Whereas the similar Sticking Charm makes things stick together with magic, Epoximise actually Transfigures the objects to bond them together. The objects do not need to be touching prior to the spell, as a second flick of the wand towards the secondary target will send the first target there. Trying to remove the objects physically makes the location of the bond stretch like gum. Unlike Sticking Charms that can be made permanent, to do so with transfiguration requires considerable more skill. The spell, if rushed, will fade within a few hours at most unless recast, or some kind of Untransfiguration is needed. The counter spell to a Sticking Charm will not work.
Ossa ruptor Bone Breaker Ossa Ruptor Charms Hexes A simple and efficient hex, fractures the recipient's bones. The strength and extent of the fracture depends on how well it is cast (and with how much vehemence). The spell necessitates loud and clear enunciation. It is difficult to cast silently.
Orchideous Bouquet Spell Orchideous Charms Makes a bouquet of flowers appear out of the caster's wand.
Cistem Aperio Box Blasting Charm Cistem Aperio Charms Curses The Box Blasting Charm (Cistem Aperio) is a charm that is used to blast open trunks, chests, boxes, or other containers. Taught between the first and fourth year at Hogwarts.
Thallus Lacero Branch Clearing Charm Thallus Lacero Charms An invisible wave that, when properly cast, can shatter canopy branches in a one mile radius. It is typically used in magical orchards and parks.
Episkokaley Broken Bone Charm Episkokaley Healing Causes major broken bones (which can not be fixed with Episkey) to heal. Takes a few seconds.
Frendo Subvenio Bruise Relief Charm Frendo Subvenio Charms Healing Heals broken blood vessels within a bruise and returns the skin to normal colouration. Will also work on bruise-related swellings. Especially efficient on black eyes
Ebublio Bubble Jinx Ebublio Charms Jinxes The Ebublio Jinx (Ebublio) is a jinx that entraps the targeted individual, or indeed any target, in a very large bubble that cannot be popped by physical force.
Bubble-Head Charm Bubble-Head Charm Charms Puts a large bubble of air around the head of the user. Used as a magical equivalent of a scuba set or self-contained breathing apparatus.
Innatātus Buoyancy Charm Innatātus Charms Defensive This spell can be used to make single or multiple targets float in water, preventing them from sinking, depending on size and proximity.
Ingredioso Burglar's Glyph Ingredioso Charms A very powerful lock-picking spell which requires the careful application of three runes. The runes are modified from the Eldar Futhark and must be drawn in limestone scratchings. Once in place, the wizard or witch must incant and cast the spell.
Ustulo Burn Hex Ustulo Charms Defensive Curses Hexes Causes a painful burning sensation on the target, as if he or she has been struck with a red-hot whip. Instantaneous.
Armoplore Caterwauling Charm Armoplore Charms The charm is activated by any living thing that steps on the area of the charm. Once activated, the charm lets out a high pitched shreik loud enough for anyone in or near the area of the charm to clearly hear it.
Manicarcerous Chaining Spell Manicarcerous Transfiguration Binds the subject with iron chains, which wrap around the body and lock on wrists and ankles. Instantaneous.
Felicitas Cheering Charm Felicitas Charms Causes the target to feel happy and content. Overly strong casting can cause bouts of uncontrollable laughter. Can work on mild blues, but not on long-term or deep-seated depression. Is largely ineffective against Dementor attacks. Lasts fifteen minutes, but may last longer if cast too forcefully.
Scrinium coerceo Chest Conjuring Enclosure Charm scrinium coerceo Transfiguration Conjuring transfiguration spell to enclose an object in a conjured wood chest.

The wand movement is a square box shape cast from the top right corner and traced anti-clockwise with two taps of the wand careful in the direction of the object. The caster must clearly picture their intent in mind to ensure the correct object and a suitably formed chest to contain it.

Is not recommended for live animals, best performed on stationary or tethered objects.
Pullus Chicken Jinx Pullus Transfiguration Jinxes Pullus is the incantation of a transforming jinx used to transfigure the target into a chicken; in particular, Erklings were rather vulnerable to this spell.
Sculpo Torva Chisel Curse Sculpo Torva Curses Causes multiple deep, gouged gashes to be chiseled into the victim. Gashes are usually span the width of the body, are closely and evenly spaced and are quite deep - usually ranging between two and four inches deep. If successful and cast at full strength, victims can bleed out in less than a minute. Victims are often described as resembling a scored piece of meat. Attempts to move the victim are usually fruitless as it just causes the gashes to spread and the victim to bleed out faster.
Anapneo Clear Airway Charm Anapneo Charms Healing Clears the target's airway, if blocked.
Sanus Clear-Mind Counter Charm Sanus Counter-Spells Removes minor mental incapacitations, such as the Babbling Jinx or the Confundus Charm. Specially trained wizards (such as Healers or some Aurors and Unspeakables) can use it to counter the Imperius Curse, though this usually requires Legilimency therapy, especially if badly performed or long-lasting. Instantaneous against weaker spells, though stronger ones may require repeated casting.
Lacarnum Inflamari Cloak Burning Spell Lacarnum Inflamari Charms Curses Defensive Lacarnum Inflamari is the incantation of a charm used to ignite cloaks or other items of clothing worn by individuals.

Confundo Confundus Charm Confundo Causes the victim to become confused, befuddled, overly forgetful and prone to follow simple orders without thinking about them.
Conjunctivitus Curse Conjunctivitus Curse A curse that causes great pain to the victim's eyes.
Angustio Constricting Hex Angustio Hexes Causes the ribs to squeeze unpleasantly on the lungs, resulting in shortness of breath and a compressed heart, which together can cause dizziness or even fainting. Lasts an hour, but easily dispelled.
Angustium Fatalis Constriction Curse Angustium Fatalis Curses Causes the ribs to squeeze more violently on the lungs, until the target suffocates or the heart ruptures from the pressure. Takes approximately five minutes until the target blacks out, another five until death.
Opressus Exonero Constriction Curse Counter Opressus Exonero Counter-Spells Relieves the effects of the Constriction Curse. Other spells and potions can do this also, but the counter-curse is the fastest and easiest method.:Also, when cast on the victim, relieves the effect of the Strangulation Hex without attacking the caster (and thus forcing him to change the aim of his wand). As it was not invented for this purpose, it is questionable whether anyone is aware of this side effect.
Containing Shield Containing Shield Protego Contineo Charms Defensive Creates a hard magical barrier, which reflects back the spell directed at it to the target. Will protect more than just the caster. Caster and others feel resistance and force from the attack and may be forced backwards. May fail under extreme attack. Inefficient spell to hold for any length of time unless combined with other wards.
Protego Contineo Containing Shield Protego Contineo Charms Defensive Creates a hard magical barrier, which reflects back the spell directed at it to the target. Will protect more than just the caster. Caster and others feel resistance and force from the attack and may be forced backwards. May fail under extreme attack. Inefficient spell to hold for any length of time unless combined with other wards.
Facsimilius Pollax Copy Spell Facsimilius Pollax Transfiguration Wandless magic. When performed properly, will result in each half of the document spawning the part that was ripped away, resulting in two identical copies. Done improperly, it will simply tear the document in half (though the wizard could theoretically mend it with Reparo and keep trying indefinitely).
Crucio Cruciatus Curse Crucio Inflicts unbearable pain on the recipient of the curse. One of the three Unforgivable Curses.
Pulvinufi Cushioning Charm Pulvinufi Charms Makes an area softer, similar to if it was a pillow. The area which the charm affects usually depends on the intent of the caster as well as the skill and concentration. Any substance with a Cushioning Charm on it, even a stone floor, will become soft enough to cushion a fall of at least ten feet without any broken bones and little pain. Sharp points or jagged edges, while still appearing dangerous, develop a thin magical surface around them that is quite rounded and safe.

Tarantallegra Dancing Feet Spell Tarantallegra Charms Jinxes Makes victim's legs dance uncontrollably, so the victim cannot control his or her movements (recalling the tarantella dance).
Levicorpus Dangling Jinx Levicorpus Charms Jinxes Enchantments The victim is dangled upside-down by one of his/her ankles, sometimes accompanied by a flash of white light. Created by Severus Snape. Its counter curse is Liberacorpus.
Morsmordre Dark Mark Morsmordre Transfiguration Conjures the Dark Mark, Voldemort's mark. It is often used to mark deaths, or cause terror (as at the Quidditch World Cup in The Goblet of Fire)
Obexus Morsmordrem Dark Mark barrier Obexus Morsmordrem Charms Defensive Enchantments Creates a magical barrier which can be passed only by someone branded with the Dark Mark. Anyone without a Dark Mark who attempts to pass will be hurled backwards. Semi-permanent. Not illegal per se, although being a Death Eater is.
Incanto Fini Deactivation Charm Incanto Fini Charms Will deactivate an activated effect of an object, or hault the effects of any charm on an object. Counter-charm of and is the Activation Charm.
Laxus Dead Limb Hex Laxus Charms Healing Hexes Causes living limbs to lose mobility and go completely limp and dangly. Extra strong spellcasts can even make the bone all droopy.
Obsurdesco Deafen Hex Obsurdesco Hexes Causes temporary loss of hearing from a minute to up to half a day. In combination with other curses can cause hearing damage.
Effodio Deep Gash Curse Effodio Charms Curses Deep bloody gashes and diminished strength around the point of impact. The weakening element acts like poison, crippling the victim until he is administered dittany and given rest.
Declino Deflection Shield Charm Declino Charms Defensive The base spell of the Declino charm family, one of the Seven Shield Spells of Pure Wand Magic. Deflects most curses. Unlike the Shield Charm, it is strict deflection, rather than reflection. Instantaneous.
Descendo Descending Charm Descendo Charms Enchantments Makes things sink, or go down. Descendo is the incantation of a charm that made objects move fall or move downwards. Taught in fifth year charms and tested in OWL exams.
Dictation Enchantment Dictation Enchantment Dicto Initium, Dicto Compleo Charms Enchantments Temporarily enchants any quill to write down anything being said between the two incantations. Deactivates after one minute of inactivity or silence even if Dicto Compleo has not been invoked.

How to use: Dicto Initium > dictate what needs to be written down > Dicto Compleo

Dicto Initium must be accompanied by a wand movement - the wand must draw a 3 while being pointed at the quill starting from the bottom, and at the top the wand must be flicked straight up into the air once reaching the end point of the number.

Fossura Pala Digging Charm Fossura Pala Charms A spell that is highly dependent on wand technique and gesturing. An invisible shovel digs out a six foot deep hole in the earth - in one fell swoop.
Expelliarmus Disarming Charm Expelliarmus This spell is used to disarm another wizard, typically by causing the victim's wand to fly out of reach.
Disillusionment Charm Disillusionment Charm Charms Causes the target to become invisible, or close to it.
Extorqueo Dislocation Hex Extorqueo Charms Curses Hexes Causes the joint it hits to be dislocated. Will not work on immovable joints. If it strikes a muscle, it will simply causes a painful wrenching sensation (similar to a Charlie Horse), with no further ill effect. If successful, the joint remains dislocated until treated.
Obexus Tholus Dome-Barrier Spell Obexus Tholus Charms Defensive Creates a dome-shaped magical barrier that stops physical objects but not magic. Objects coming in contact with the dome tend to slide off it with the natural pull of gravity.
Colloportus Door Locking Charm Colloportus Charms Defensive Magically locks a door, preventing it from being opened by Muggle means.

This was because of its potential to create breaches of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. There was a law in place that Extension Charms were not to be cast for private use, but only for the production of objects. These objects had been individually approved for manufacture by the relevant Ministry Department. Hogwarts school trunks (like the majority of wizarding luggage) were issued with these charms. Family tents were also infused with this charm, in order to make them more inhabitable. The official cars used by the Ministry were also fitted with these charms as standard issue.

Densissima Cor Heart Stopping Curse Densissima Cor Charms Curses This spell instantly thickens and slows the muscles of the heart to cause severe chest pain and difficulty breathing. As the heart is directly targeted, abnormal heart rhythms and the strain of beating can make this fatal in most cases.

To muggle doctors, it would appear to be like the condition hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is unexplained thickening of heart muscle that causes sudden death in otherwise healthy appearing individuals who have experienced few or no symptoms before it becomes fatal.

A healer would be able to see the thickening is noticeably different than a muggle doctor's interpretation.
Siccari Heating Charm Siccari Charms Enchantments Increases the temperature of the target, the more intense the caster's focus the hotter the heat. Also works like a Drying Charm if liquids on the target can boil away as steam.[1]

The extent to which the spell's specific action can be controlled by the caster is not made clear. If this spell does bind, it does eventually wear off as stated in Deathly Hallows.
Imperio Imperius Curse Imperio Causes the victim of the curse to obey the spoken/unspoken commands of the caster. The experience of being controlled by this curse is described as a complete, wonderful release from any sense of responsibility or worry over one's actions, at the price of one's free will. Resisting the effect of the curse is possible, however, and several individuals have been able to successfully overcome it, including Harry and both of the Crouches, who learn to resist the curse after being subjected to its effects for an extended period. The wand gesture is two horizontal figures-of-eight stacked on top of each other (the bottom figure-of-eight must always be performed first) followed by a flick upwards.

It requires in-depth knowledge of human anatomy, as a misdirection could cause the wrong muscle to be frozen - which can be lethal, as the entire body is muscle.

Because the spell is nonverbal, the incantation has not been documented anywhere.

Expecto Patronum Patronus Charm Expecto Patronum Charms Defensive Conjures an incarnation of the caster's innermost positive feelings, such as joy or hope, known as a Patronus. A Patronus is conjured as a protector, and is a weapon rather than a predator of souls: Patronuses shield their conjurors from Dementors or Lethifolds, and can even drive them away. They are also used amongst the Order of the Phoenix to send messages. According to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the Charm is the only known defensive spell against Lethifolds.
Salah Pause Charm Salah Charms A less permanent version of Silencio, known mainly to graduates of Beit Gaddol. Causes the target to be unable to speak. Effects can last from a few seconds to several minutes unless the counter spell is cast, depending on the ability of the caster.

Exihibeo Exibeo Presentation Animation Charm Exihibeo Exibeo Charms Enchantments Similar to Exihibeo, this is a ‘maintained’ version, that can allow the user channeling it to change to image at will (this include rotation or ‘playing an animation’, as it where). It lasts until the user cancels it and will not maintain after that. You cannot use other spells while this one is in effect.
Exihibeo Presentation Charm Exihibeo Charms Enchantments This is fairly simple enchantment; it simply displays an image the user imagines onto a surface. While the image itself can move (i.e., be animated) it cannot be changed without recasting the spell. It lasts until removed, and can be thought of as a cousin to the Great Hall’s ceiling enchantment. Possibly taught in fifth year charms.[3]
Primo Incantatum Primo Incantatum Charms The charm shows an echo of the first spells that might have been set upon an object or place. It is often used on burial sites and ancient tombs. It takes time to show its effects, and gives no indication when it doesn't work.
Prohibition Jinx Prohibition Jinx Prohibeo, Ego Absit Charms Jinxes The use of the Prohibition Jinx is to bind someone to a list of restricted words they cannot utter. To use it, the binder must define the parameters of the jinx. First the binder must touch the person(s) to be bound using a wand. Then the initial prohibeo incantation, followed by the list of words to be restricted uttered in a clear, loud voice (and enunciated properly - it is possible to act on a loophole if the words are said with too strong of an accent), then followed again by a second prohibeo.

The jinx does not activate until the binder then utters the words ego absit. Once that is done, the person(s) bound has no way of countering the jinx. Breaking the jinx requires saying the words that are considered taboo, or the death of the binder, or the binder lifting the jinx. Uttering any of the words on the restricted list will inform the binder that the jinx has been broken.

This jinx can bind more than one person and usually it is recommended to have the list of restricted words agreed on by the people bound to it. However there is precedent for using it on a one-sided basis, which is more frowned upon since it acts without consent of the person being bound.

Countering this jinx entails stopping the person from uttering the prohibeo incantations, touching the person(s) to be bound using their wand, or leaving the vicinity the binder is in. Once the parameters of the spell have been set, the jinx can only be activated if the binder can see the person(s) bound. It cannot be activated remotely.

Seek and Find Seek and Find Dyszititos Charms Enchantments This spell has three parts:

1. A place or object must be already be well hidden, and the Seek and Find enchantment makes it impossible to find. A series of complex incantations are required for this part. 2. The second part is optional, and includes allowing more people, other than the original castor, to find the hidden place. Permission must be shared by the touching of two wands at the actual hidden place. 3. The wand can now be used as a compass with the incantation "Dyszititos".

When one is using a wand as a compass, the wand will gently pull you in the right direction. It's pretty subtle.

It is very advanced magic to cast this spell, but most magic folk can follow a wand.
Carpe Retractum Seize and Pull Charm Carpe Retractum Charms Defensive The seize and pull charm, also known as the Carpe Retractum Spell (Carpe Retractum), is a charm that produced a magical, retractable cord of light, that can be used to pull objects towards the caster, or, if the target was fixed in place, to pull the caster towards the target.

In order to successfully connect the charm, the target must be in direct line of sight of the caster, as well as being relatively nearby. Once connected, the caster can pull on the rope with their wand, quickly retracting it.

Objects that are not fixed in place will be pulled towards the caster. If the target is immovable, then the retracting rope would swiftly drag the caster towards the object. Being pulled in this manner enabled the caster to traverse through the air or over large gaps.

While the charm was generally used on inanimate objects, it can also be used on living things such as Bubotubers and Erklings.

Although the charm is easy enough to cast, it takes a fair amount of force to pull heavy objects or to hold on to the wand while being dragged through the air. This could be negated to a certain degree if caster leaned backwards while pulling heavier targets by allowing their body weight to carry a portion of the target's weight.

Turpiscarpo Seizing Curse Turpiscarpo Hexes The spell, when successfully cast and not blocked, will seize all parts of a person painfully and cause them to curl into the fetal position, dropping to the ground as all of their muscles and internal organs are constricted. This incapacitates the subject and causes excrutiating pain. Can kill, if directed at the heart, as it will stop blood flow with sustained casting.
Separo Separation Charm Separo Charms Generally used to separate contaminated potions or ingredients. The spell identifies the differing densities of the matters that make the target and separates them from each other. Doesn't work if the ingredients are of such form that they can completely incorporate each other (ex: highly soluble ingredients in water).
Diffindo Severing Charm Diffindo Charms Curses Cuts or rips objects. The Severing Charm (Diffindo) is a charm used to precisely and accurately cut something. It is taught in second-year and fourth-year Charms classes, and if used inappropriately could cause death or injury.
Umbra Mobilis Shadow Charm Umbra Mobilis Geminus Charms The charm creates a double of the caster's shadow, which can be controlled. Different variations of the incantation may triple or quadruple your shadow.
Portus Scribbilis Shadow Writing Charm Portus Scribbilis Charms Allows the caster's written words to appear on another, previously treated surface.
Shadowstep Shadowstep Ambulare cum umbris Charms Enchantments Grants the user the ability to merge self with the shadows and walk wherever shadow connects, allowing the user to cover more ground unseen. Traversing the shadows makes the entire world turn greyscale with unstable wavering distortions around every object in complete silence, where the ground is the darkest black and the sky is bright white. This is sometimes colloquially known as the 'shadow world'.
Quasso Shaking Jinx Quasso Jinxes Causes the target (person or object) to shake violently. If used on a person, can be countered with Consisto. Lasts approximately ten minutes.
Finestra Shatter Spell Finestra Charms The Finestra spell is a charm which shatters glass. This spell was useful in that it makes very little sound, allowing for discreet entry through a window.
Protego Shield Charm Protego Charms The base spell of the Protego charm family, one of the Seven Shield Spells of Pure Wand Magic. The Shield Charm causes minor to strong jinxes, curses, and hexes to rebound upon the attacker, or at least prevents them from having their full effect. It can also cause a shield to erupt from the caster's wand.
Concusso Shockwave Curse Concusso Charms Curses Defensive Causes a powerful magical shockwave, which can be either directed or 360 degrees. This may destroy some weaker objects, and can injure or stun living targets. It is cast with a flick of the wand. Instantaneous.

Glisseo is the incantation of a charm that can be used to transform a staircase into a smooth slide. It was very old, having been in use since in the Middle Ages.

The Glisseo charm was used by the Hogwarts founders circa 993, when they enchanted the stairs of the girls' dormitories to turn into slides should any boy attempt to enter, but not vice versa, as they believed girls to be more trustworthy than boys

Pulmonary obscura Suffoctation Charm Pulmonary Obscura Charms Curses Pulmonary Obscura is used to restrict the breathing of those that are being cursed. It is invisible, but it creates what could be described as the same feeling that a tight, plastic sealing might feel over one's nose and mouth. The victim cannot remove the sort of seal. Most end up scratching their faces around their mouths and nose. This is one of the indicators that it could be the spell that was used, if the victim dies. The caster controls how long this spell is used and to what degree the victim suffers. It has most commonly been associated with torture.

Taboo Taboo A jinx which may be placed upon a word or a name, so that whenever that word is spoken, a magical disturbance is created that alerts the caster of the Taboo to the location of the speaker. Any protective enchantments in effect around the speaker are broken when the Tabooed word is spoken aloud.
Tangillumin Tangible Light Charm Tangillumin Charms Makes a tangible ball of light. This ball has the texture of glass, and gives a slight tingling sensation when touched. The light gives no heat, and is much brighter than its similar transportable light, bluebell flames. The ball cannot be broken apart or contorted by physical force, only dispelled by the caster dispelling it or by being hit with a destroying spell, such as a Reductor Curse.
Partis Temporus Temporary Partition Spell Partis Temporus Charms Partis Temporus is the incantation of a charm that temporarily parts the target, creating a gap wherever the caster points their wand. This spell was effective in producing a magical partition in a Firestorm.
Tentaclifors Tentacle Spell Tentaclifors Transfiguration Curses Hexes Jinxes Tentaclifors is the incantation of a charm that transfigures the head of the targeted witch or wizard into a tentacle.
Depleo cerebrum The Brain Bleed Curse depleo cerebrum Charms Curses Creates a rupture in the brain tissue of a victim. Depending on the particular flare and intention of the caster, this can cause instantaneous death or be quite prolonged, inducing seizures and other symptoms like slurred speech, headaches, lethargy, and nausea/vomiting.

The spell is almost always lethal, unless the counter-curse can be used in time ("Coagulum Cerebrum").

This spell is particularly useful when victims are muggle or left in muggle areas. It appears to be spontaneous and can come with a number of other health conditions that could be had. Healers who are trained in spell damage will be able to find the pinpoint burn that will appear where the spell connects with its victim.

Coagulum The Clotting Spell Coagulum Charms Counter-Spells Healing Most basic version of the spell is used for small flesh wounds. If the wound is internal, the specific organ must be mentioned. An example is "Coagulum Cerebrum," the counter curse to the Brain Bleed Curse.
The Dancing Hex The Dancing Hex Hexes A Jamaican prank spell used commonly on muggles to cause them to sporadically dance or just for parties and special events. It begins by adults casting the spell on themselves or children who go onto pass it to others. When mastered it causes much more violent and uncontrolled body movements. It is known for being "contagious," and, once begun, is passed on from one person to the next by touch and wears off gradually.
Carnem Dehisco The flesh splitting curse Carnem Dehisco (It is used exclusively nonverbally) Charms Curses It can be used from a distance to slash skin open, or it can be used up close-- for close carving or more intricate slashing as a form of torture. The sensation it leaves is a mixture of burning and stinging. The wounds it leaves are slow to heal and resistant to dittany, though some dittany is better than none. It almost always leaves scars, and is used to create cursed scars as well.

It was commonly used on muggleborns during the second world war to write "mudblood" to leave a lasting scar. It has also been used to torture information out of victims in interrogations.

The more precise it is, the more advanced the user is. It is an incredibly difficult spell to use precisely. Often times, it is easier to do haphazard slashes from a distance than it is to take it slow.
Karath kol the Karathic Curse Karath 'akal kol huw' dam Charms Curses The Karathic ("to cut" or "to make a covenant") Ritual was developed in ancient times as a method of ritual sacrifice. Blood from a sacrificed animal was considered a purifying agent in many ancient cultures, but sacrifice itself could be messy. Mages were left with the problem of how to extract as much blood as possible from a sacrificial victim so that they could use it in later spells and ceremonies. When completed to full, this ritual purifies an animal for sacrifice and then drains all of its blood so that it can be collected in a basin and put to later use. The animal's throat can then be slit by the mage performing the ritual without losing any of the precious blood.

The Karathic Ritual itself is not considered dark magic, but it has been put to dark uses in the past. After its development in Israel, knowledge of it spread around the ancient Mediterranean, and some groups in Carthage, Kush, and Greece did use it to ease the practice of human sacrifice. As recently as the 1980s, a notorious illegal cult in Turkey used it as an exsanguination spell to murder human victims, draining them of blood and then leaving them for the wizarding authorities to find, who first mistook them for the victims of vampires.

Though the Karathic Ritual is not commonly taught at Beit Gaddol, mention of it often comes up in classes that study the interrelationships between magic and religion. Upper-level students might practice performing it on a small scale (birds and the like).

Necessary Spell Components:

- Olive oil and perfumes

- Ribbon

- Barley

- Purified water

- Three hairs plucked from the victim's forehead

- Sacrificial knife (commonly a machaira)

- Ritual container


The Ritual:

In the archesthai (first part of preparation for the ritual), the ritual performer prepares himself for the sacrifice by smearing his body with olive oil and ritual perfumes. He recites a prayer as he adds the ribbon (to represent the glory of the gods) and the barley (to represent the community's participation in the sacrifice) to the ritual container. The barley and ribbon are set on fire, and then the three hairs are added as well. The holy water is poured over the entire mix to put out the fire and purify the energy for the sacrifice.

Once the fire is out, the machaira is stabbed into the mixture, and the katarchesthai spell is chanted. This enthuses the machaira with the power of the ritual, which can be released with a spoken spell at a later date.

The archesthai prayer varies depending on the culture of the mage. Isaiah 57 is often used amongst graduates of Beit Gaddol.

The Spell:

To activate the power of the ritual, the mage takes a ritual container (where the blood will end up) in his right hand and the machaira in his left. He points the machaira at the victim of the ritual and chants "Karath 'akal kol huw' dam." The victim is drained of blood, which is instantly collected inside the container. (Since the containers are traditionally too small to hold all of the blood, it will fill to its brim and then continue to refill until the blood has been completely used.) If there is no ritual container to hold the liquid, the blood will simply explode into the air and the victim will be left exsanguinated.

The spell "karath kol," while not possessing the full power of the ritual, can accomplish a similar (though less refined) result. Deep gouges will appear all over the body, causing the victim to bleed out at an alarming rate. Normal magical healing practices to staunch the flow of blood often have no effect.

For ritual purposes, "karath kol" is useless. Part of the appeal of the Karathic Ritual is that it does not mar the body of the victim, allowing the mage to extract the blood without losing a drop. The secondary "karath kol" spell is so unrefined that much blood is lost in the attempted collection. However, it is sometimes used as a defense against dark creatures (such as werewolves, who are resistant to many magics), though many magical governments forbid its use against any human or human-like being.

Neither the Karathic Ritual or the "karath kol" spell are commonly known in Great Britain.
Proteum Magister / Proteus The Protean Charm Proteum Magister / Proteus Charms Causes numerous identical objects to mimic changes to a single (also identical) master object. Permanent.
Perfricus The Smoothing Charm Charms Smooths a lumpy or uneven surface, packing it in until sufficiently flat. Wand movement is a straight, horizontal line.
The Vidris Curtain The Vidris Curtain Charms Mostly transparent, it's used as a barrier between Azkaban prisoners and places they ought not go, in particular in the visiting chambers. They do not easily come and go, so they don't work well as doors. It runs up until it hits solid stone, passing through wood, glass, ceramic, etc. Should anyone come in contact with it, at the slightest touch a nasty shock and any more than that, a nasty shock and a violent repulse away. Full on assaults can cause unconsciousness.
Everte Statum Throwback Hex Everte Statum Charms Curses Hexes Everte Statum is the incantation of a charm that caused opponent to fly back several feet, and caused a short sharp pain depending on the strength of the spell, but does not cause any lasting damage. Taught during the first five year of Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts.
Rictusempra Tickling Charm Rictusempra Charms Defensive The subject experiences the sensation of being tickled Taught in first or second year charms.
Titillando Tickling Hex Titillando Charms Curses Hexes Jinxes The Tickling Hex (Titillando), also known as the Tickling Spell, is a hex that tickles and subsequently weakens the target. The spell itself resembles purple hands that tickle the target.
Time Slowing Spell Time Slowing Spell Chronargio Charms Counter-Spells This spell creates an area of affect where time is slowed down to a crawl. No spells are truly instantaneous so it has the effect of stopping any spell in its tracks. For example, it can delay an explosion, slow an active transfiguration, or make sluggish an enchantment protecting a doorway.

The spell lasts as long as the castor is focused on the spell. How intensely time is slowed depends on the skill and will of the caster. Multiple instances of the spell can be cast upon the same area and the effect is multiplicative.

It takes several seconds to cast the spell making it not ideal for a dueling defense.

It cannot literally stop time, merely slow it down. The events that were going to occur will come to pass. If the events inside the area of affect would cause objects or spells inside to move past their boundaries, they will break the perimeter and return to normal time.

When the spell is lifted, the events that were slowed come rushing back to present.

There are many cases where attempting to affect the events inside the area of effect that could lead to disastrous results so must be done with caution.

It is not safe for use on living creatures and is illegal. For this reason it is not suitable for healing.
Evanesco Differedeo Time-Skip Spell Evanesco Differedeo Transfiguration Enchantments The target object vanishes but is set to reappear from where it left after a delay of time, essentially sending it into the future.

When the target object “returns” there is a blink-miss-it flash of pale blue light. The time delay is built in increments of five minutes and the total time gone must have five as a factor. The longer the time delay, the harder the spell is to cast, so the caster must concentrate on the amount of time the target is gone.

Inexperienced casters may vanish the object permanently. The complexity of the object itself can also add issues. Objects with powerful magical powers (e.g. Time-Turners, the Sorting Hat, the Deathly Hollows, etc.) are unaffected by this spell.

Common, non-magical creatures can be also sent to the future with this spell. However, magical creatures resist and may reappear after a few seconds to a minute or not disappear at all.

Mimblewimble Tongue-Tying Curse Mimblewimble Charms Curses Hexes Jinxes The Tongue-Tying Curse (Mimblewimble), also known as the Tongue-Tying Spell, is a curse that ties the target's tongue in a knot, preventing them from making coherent speech. This feature also allows one to prevent the victim from speaking the incantations of spells correctly, and hence like the Silencing Charm it is useful in duelling (though can be overcome with more advanced magic). Indamnum Unbreakable Charm Indamnum Charms Makes object unable to be broken. Difficulty depends both on the natural fragility of the object and the size of the object. If well cast, the object can withstand the pressure of being driven over. Will eventually wear off, and wears off sooner if the spell is forced to take on a lot of force several times.
Unbreakable Vow Unbreakable Vow Causes a vow taken by a witch or wizard to be inviolable; if he or she should break it, the consequence is death. It manifests itself as interlinking chains of fire binding the clasped hands of the people taking the Vow; the fire shoots out as a tongue of flame from the wand of the Binder (a witness to the Vow) every time the person who takes the vow makes a promise. The flames then form into the linking chains. According to Ron Weasley, the spell causes death to anyone who breaks the vow.
Undetectable Extension Charm Undetectable Extension Charm Causes a container's capacity to be increased, without changing the object's external appearance, or its weight noticeably. The container may be carried or used as normal.

Reparifarge Untransfiguration Spell Reparifarge Transfiguration Counter-Spells Reparifarge is the incantation of an untransfiguration spell. It is a general spell used to counter the effects of a Transformation spell that was poorly performed and only partially Transfigured the object in question.

This spell is covered in A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration, which stressed the importance of at least attempting this spell when necessary, as the products of incomplete Transfigurations could be dangerous.

The caster then holds the tip of the wand to their throat, like Sonorus and whatever they say will instead emanate from the point marked by the spell. Ventriliquo can be maintained with concentration while other spells are cast in the duration. Changing targets for where they "throw their voice" requires the spell to be cast again.
Ventus Maxima Ventus Maxima Ventus Maxima Charms Enchantments Produces a blast of moving air from the tip of the wand, of comparable strength to a localised gale force wind. Its power may be amplified slight by repeating the spell in ten-to-fifteen second intervals. Based on Windy Spell
Verdimilious Verdimilous Charm Verdimilious Charms Produces green energy from the wand by means of sparks. These sparks can be used to reveal objects hidden by the Dark Arts, or can be used in a duel.

The Verdimillious Charm can have several effects depending on its use:

  • If one quickly casts the charm whilst aiming for a specific target, it will cause green sparks and/or green electrical discharge to explode and crackle all around the victim, hurting them slightly.
  • If one waves his or her wand in a circular motion overhead whilst slowly saying the incantation, aiming for nothing but thin air, an orb of glowing green energy will be thrown from the wand tip, exploding several feet away in a blinding flash of emerald light and illuminating the entire room for a short period of time.
    • So long as the emerald light from the spell lasts, objects such as platforms or doors that have been hidden by Dark magic will be revealed, so that they are temporarily visible and tangible again, until the spell's effects end.
Verdimilious Duo Verdimilous Duo Charm Verdimilious Duo Charms Holds a number of useful purposes, and is rather easy to cast. Has two forms with very different effects, the spell's dual forms are marked by varying colours.
  • If one quickly casts the charm while aiming for a specific target, green sparks and electrical discharge will explode from the wand and crackle all around the victim, hence proving very useful in duelling. When used a number of times by more than one witch or wizard on a werewolf, the beast will be temporarily subdued.
  • If one draws out the casting, saying the incantation slowly and waving the wand in a circle overhead, aiming for thin air above the caster, an orb of red light will be thrown skywards from the tip of the wand like a flare. Once it reaches a certain point it will explode several feet away in a blinding flash of white light, thereby illuminating the entire room for a short time. While the light of the charm fills the room, objects hidden by Dark magic will be revealed, although unlike its precursor, objects hidden by Verdimillious Duo remain tangible and visible even after the light fades. Nonetheless, green sparks will still be floating around the enchanted objects for a while after the light disappears.
Verdimilious Tria Verdimilous Tria Charm Verdimilious Tria Charms Can be used in dueling to harm an opponent; if used numerous times on a werewolf the beast will be subdued. It is stronger than either Verdmilious and Verdmilious Duo and the green discharge will go a further distance than its precursors.
Vermiculus Vermiculus Jinx Vermiculus Transfiguration Jinxes Vermiculus is the incantation of a transforming jinx used to transfigure things into worms.

Vampyr Mosps are especially susceptible to this spell, and any spell cast on them whilst they are in their transformed state will cause them to explode in a flash of bright colours.

Vertigio Vertigio Vertigio Charms Hexes In order to cast this spell, the wand must be raised above the head and moved in a smooth swirling motion. Those in the room are forced to succumb to a dreadful bout of enhanced vertigo. Feelings of the roof caving in, the floor spinning or falling beneath them and the room spinning violently have all been described by those the spell has been used on. Extreme dizziness is highly common and the effects can last for hours afterwards.

Wall Building Spell Wall Building Spell Sepulcrus Totalis Charms Defensive At the will of the caster, bricks or other building stones from a source location animate and come together to form a new structure, usually a wall or series of walls. Certainly, the caster could conjure multiple walls that form a more complex structure. The structure is held together magically - no physical mortaring required.

Additional magic would be needed to reinforce the wall against dismantling or blasting spells.

Very skilled wix can conjure bricks from nothing simultaneously. Otherwise a nearby source of building materials is required.
Munium Muri Ilii Wall Fortifying Charm Munium Muri Ilii Charms Defensive Enchantments A substantially more difficult and powerful version of the spell Munio. Protects permanent structures against substantial magical or physical bombardment, and is thus usually cast on exterior building walls. Lasts indefinitely, or until having taken extreme magical or physical damage. Casting by a very powerful wizard (or a group of wizards working in concert) will be more effective.
Lumos Wand-Light Charm Lumos Charms Creates a narrow beam of light that shines from the wand's tip, like a torch.
Ye'hiy Or Warding Charm Ye'hiy Or Charms A shielding spell that maintains a semipermanent magical shield around the caster, similar to Protego, although it absorbs (instead of reflecting) most curses. The advantage is that, being wandless, it allows a well-trained caster to use his wand simultaneously to cast other spells. The caster can feel the strength of the ward.
Aqua Eructo Waterspout Charm Aqua Eructo Charms Enchantments Aqua Eructo was the incantation of a charm that could be used to create a spout of water from the tip of the wand. The intensity of the water flow could be anything from a thin fountain to an immense, powerful and destructive jet. Taught to fourth year students in Defence Against the Dark Arts.

Vulnera Sanentur Wound Healing Charm Vulnera Sanentur Counter-Spells Counter-Spells Healing Vulnera Sanentur is the song-like incantation of a healing spell which is used to heal deep wounds, and which can also be used as the counter-curse for the curse Sectumsempra.

For maximum effect of the spell, the incantation had to be repeated thrice; firstly slowing the flow of blood to prevent death by exsanguination; the second to clear residue and begin to heal the wounds; and the third to fully knit the wounds, although dittany had to be applied to prevent scarring.

Body parts that had been completely removed with Sectumsempra could not be restored even using this spell.
Obvolvo Wrap-around spell Obvolvo Charms Hexes This spell causes an object to attempt to wrap around an object or person you indicate. The will try to get as tight as possible but will usually not reach a lethal pressure.
Inamadverto X-Ray Charm Inamadverto Charms Healing The beam will cause layers to fade away (visibly, though not actually) and show the caster what is underneath (i.e. muscle layer, organ layer, bone). Caster needs only to say “Further” or “Pull back” to cycle among layers. Lasts until the wand is moved or the caster loses concentration.
