Rennervate
Spell Name: Reviving Spell
Incantation: Rennervate
Pronunciation: /ˈrɛnərveɪt/ REN-ər-vayt
Spell Branch: Charms
Magical Discipline(s): Counter-Spells; Healing
Appearance: A flash of brilliantly coloured red light.
Description: Brings someone out of unconsciousness. This can be used to counteract a single Stunning Spell, although it is ineffective against multiple Stunners hitting an individual. It was also ineffective against Dark Magic such as the Drink of Despair.
Regulations: Legal
Skill Level: Intermediate
Etymology: Officially renamed from Ennervate by J. K. Rowling
The original incantation was Enervate, which means "to weaken". Due to this misconception, J. K. Rowling officially renamed it to "Rennervate", which means "to energize".
