Spell Name: Time Slowing Spell

Incantation: Chronargio

Pronunciation:

Spell Branch: Charms

Magical Discipline(s): Counter-Spells

Appearance: The castor defines the area of effect with their wand as its tip glows lime-green. The affected area is encased in a faintly shimmering sort of bubble.

Description: This spell creates an area of affect where time is slowed down to a crawl. No spells are truly instantaneous so it has the effect of stopping any spell in its tracks. For example, it can delay an explosion, slow an active transfiguration, or make sluggish an enchantment protecting a doorway.

The spell lasts as long as the castor is focused on the spell. How intensely time is slowed depends on the skill and will of the caster. Multiple instances of the spell can be cast upon the same area and the effect is multiplicative.

It takes several seconds to cast the spell making it not ideal for a dueling defense.

It cannot literally stop time, merely slow it down. The events that were going to occur will come to pass. If the events inside the area of affect would cause objects or spells inside to move past their boundaries, they will break the perimeter and return to normal time.

When the spell is lifted, the events that were slowed come rushing back to present.

There are many cases where attempting to affect the events inside the area of effect that could lead to disastrous results so must be done with caution.

It is not safe for use on living creatures and is illegal. For this reason it is not suitable for healing.
