A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads on July 23, 2024, 10:24:58 PM OverviewDuring my initial romp at Absit Omen, I only dabbled with adoptable characters late in my run. I have created a variety of NPCs and open gaps within the stories of my characters, or those adopted from others, but it wasn’t as organized. Each group is listed via the account associated with that cast. Besides characters to adopt, this also serves as a place to further other family/relationship ties. Maybe you have a partial concept for a new character and need some relatives? Or your interests align with mine for filling in some 'key roles' left untouched for so long.References will include the lexicon, my NPC Account Stats and my very old Leftovers thread. You can use any birth dates listed for the character or change those, provided they stay in the same graduating years.NavFalkin, O'Doherty, Mastiff, Claggin, Pienas, Canterbury, Gibbon, Gries, Mills, VemulakondaStudent PromptsInspired by past member Dlee's adoptable prompts, I also created some wacky student character prompts. These were listed by Hogwarts house but you could do whatever you'd like if you wanted to adapt one of them (older, different schools or gender, etc). However! I have dog-eared "The Hag" Slytherin prompt for myself, because I've been looking to place her origins for a new student character.Claims ListInterested in an adoption or insert? Magically bred, quirky cottage, numerous and dirt-poor. While parents Frederick & Francine have similarities to Arthur & Molly Weasley, the rest of the family dynamics soon differ. Philo is doubly the middle child and the only Ravenclaw in the outdoorsy, Hufflepuff family. The family home, Steeple Underfoot, is in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Otherwise they are quintessentially British, with allusions to classic films I watched growing up like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Bedknobs & Broomsticks. Their Welsh lineage comes from muggleborn Frederick's side of the family. Francine hails from the Bobbin family, a background name in canon. The Untold Falkin/Bobbin Backstory - The Browne-Price FamilyNow I've never actually written threads that build off this information but as I said, there's been several allusions to the books by Mary Norton adapted to the 1971 Disney film "Bedknobs & Broomsticks." What follows is a modification of those stories, set in the 1940s, to fit a Wizarding World environment. Ultimately this is legacy information for the characters in 2018.Eglantine Price was a witch whose magic manifested later in life. She never attended Hogwarts, although would train as a witch via a correspondence course set up by conman "Professor" Emelius Browne, who had stumbled into discovering a spellbook from a semi-forgotten wizard, "Astaroth." Yet magic Eglantine adapted to as she thinks of applying spells to the war effort. During the Blitz orphans Charlie, Carrie & Paul Rawlins are sent to stay at Eglantine's house in Pepperidge Eye, Dorset. There's initial frictions when the kids try to run away but upon discovering Eglantine is a witch, they start warming up to her. There's various adventures involving a brass bed enchanted with a 'traveling spell' to track down Emelius Browne, who closed the correspondence school, records for a powerful animation spell, and a strange island. Culminating with Eglantine animating several displays from the Pepperidge Eye military museum to fend off an invading German contingent. In the aftermath, Eglantine & Emelius would form a blended family by adopting the Rawlins kids. Emelius serves in the war and comes home with honors. Everybody but Eglantine are muggles although quite aware of magic. The Ministry would have also contacted Eglantine at this point and after the dust clears, she'd take to learning more 'modern' magic through Kwikspell courses. The Rawlins kids, or at least Paul who believed in magic the most, would marry into magical families. All this to say Francine Falkin and her family inherited the brass traveling bed, which was used by the Falkin kids jointly as they grew up. Yet the bedknob that powers the traveling spell is lost. Foster & Felicia claim to have traveled on the bed when they were younger, or they could just be spinning tall tales and the bedknob was lost much earlier (maybe confiscated by the Ministry?)Adoptable CharactersSuggested FC: Oliver ReedFrederick FalkinLv 2, Misuse of Muggle Artifacts OfficeHufflepuff Class of 1986 (~50 yrs old)Father of Philo & the Falkin siblingsMuggleborn from a Welsh family (with a magical Lebanese cousin). The full extent of their crimes and depravity has only been alluded to yet their reach has started to dwindle ever since Casey cut ties from their warped traditions. Although originated by a matriarch that outwitted a leprechaun, Éadaoin ó Doherty, who had a cousin take her name, inheritance shifted to 1st borne sons until Casey's generation. The family prides its fortunes from the ancestral 9", Hornbeam & Leprechaun hair wand passed down the generations: demanding much magical potential to be awarded, disastrous if handled by the non-Irish and fickle to give counter-curses to the spells it casts. Whether actually cursed by the leprechaun or one of the side-effects of in-breeding to keep the family pure, what pleasantries the O'Doherty's keep mask their vile mindsets, often the worse seen of purists and Slytherin house. To say nothing of how 2 or 3 unknown ancestors had intersex physiology like Casey but were "rendered male" by illusory amulets. The main home for the family is Doherty Manor, rendered nigh impossible to get to unless you are invited. It's somewhere close to the border with Northern Ireland in Co. Donegal. Dinghee and his parents Dollop & Dimple handled all menial labor and the whims from the family until Casey freed them before graduating. The manor itself is modeled after Compton Wynyates, the storied Tudor house in Warwickshire, England, featured in many films. I've always used the head-space of the depiction in the 1977 Disney film "Candleshoe" based on Christmas at Candleshoe by Michael Innes. (That both mine and a character in the film are named Casey is very coincidental!) One of the other properties mentioned is Rossin Glen, further into the Irish countryside, that has stables and close proximity with the habitats of some magical creatures.Adoptable CharactersOriginally, the O'Dohertys were written to be so vile to the point of twisted parody I wasn't sure they were worth having adopted. Since taking an NPC account I've started a few things with Casey's cousins, although anybody outside of the grandparents and Casey's parents are fair game. The "pure" aspect of their blood would be questionable when compared to ancient families like the Malfoys or the Blacks, and mostly everyone is Irish. They're suggested to have relations with other pureblood families, including the Canterbury family.Darla Higgins, Casey's mother, was something of a debutante before being left sick in the attic after the O'Doherty forced Martin's family to return to the fold. She secretly lived in a Hogsmeade cottage during Casey's middle years at school before moving back to muggle society after 5th year (Summer 2011). I've never explored relatives or possible muggleborns on her side of the family, so that is also new territory. The Mastiff FamilyPureblood(?)With Casey having inspirations from the likes of Draco Malfoy and Artemis Fowl (with a heaping helping of questioning identity) the Mastiff brothers are the pesudo-equivalent to Crabbe & Goyle, with a side-order of Horace & Jasper from 101 Dalmatians. Buster, the older, shares Casey's grade and Bruno is behind them in year. They were always intended as fluff characters, running cheating schemes and minor bullying while taking their namesake from the massive dogs that the family breeds. The O'Doherty and Mastiff families aren't as close as the enforcers you see with Crabbe & Goyle flanking Draco, although the recent generations have been in Slytherin house together. I literally added their father, Beatus Mastiff, to the picture when teasing out a werewolf related case Martin was wrapping up in his return thread with Chocobo's Gregory King.Adoptable CharactersFace Claims are open!BusterSlytherin Class of '13 (~22 yrs old)School roommate and 'associate' of Casey O'DohertyDescribed as 'a bit of an orangutan' as a teenager, Buster inherited his father's beefy build. His pride & joy are his massive dogs he breeds for hunting, security or those seeking pets. Doesn't wear glasses, like his sons, but walks with a cane that conceals his wand due to an injury. Martin recently got him off the hook for events in January 2018 possibly involving werewolves(?) by arguing that his lodge wasn’t an unlicensed werewolf shelter, as the big dogs were mistaken for wolves.Fixed: Career ending leg injury as a Beater in Professional QuidditchOpen: appearance, birth date, personality, wand, personal history, family background, classes, graduating year (near Martin's Class of 1991)Adding to the Mastiff FamilyThe theme of the Mastiff family is 'new money in old circles.' Both clever and brutal, sometimes narrowminded but would make decent allies or enforcers for shady business. Anybody from Beatus' wife to other relatives are open, even additional siblings for Buster & Bruno. I've been toying with the idea that their family roots might be in the United States or Australia, before their branch integrated into the UK.The Claggin FamilyHalf-bloodsWho are the Claggins? The most notable folklore about them is their famous ancestor, Chieftainess of the Wizarding Council Elfrida Clagg with various accomplishments listed on her Chocolate Frog card. Few if any have matched her acclaim since. Although there is some notoriety in the family at present from the likes of Primrose Claggin, a chronic hypochondriac and thorn in the side of St. Mungo’s, if she isn’t bothering other magical clinics. The rest of the Claggin family seemingly hasn’t noticed that Casey has claimed to be one of their number, under the alias “Hexmerelda Claggin.”Adoptable CharacterFace Claims are open!PrimroseUndecided Hogwarts House & Year (Class of 1989 to 1993) (mid to late 40s)Chronic hypochondriac, contemporary of Sissel JowdThere’s only a few things established about Primrose Claggin. She dated my Time Travel Investigator turned History Professor during their school days. She’s older than him (Gryffindor, Class of 1993) but he broke off their relationship when she got too needy. She also frequently gives the healers at St. Mungo’s headaches and gives the hospital a bad rap in her tellings in publications such as The Quibbler. The rest is wide open.Open: appearance, birth date, personality, wand, personal history, family background, classes, career, graduating year“Hexmerelda’s Folks”When asked, Hexy claimed to have parents that traveled a lot. Her mom and “Aunt Primrose” were frequently sick, as her aunt moved to the solace of Hogsmeade after the Wizarding Blood Alliance attacked St. Mungo’s in July 2009. Her dad was a journeying wand maker’s apprentice on walkabout studying rare magical trees.Outside of the St. Mungo’s attack, this whole story is completely bogus yet meticulously crafted to stand up to initial scrutiny. Darla Higgins was attributed to be “Aunt Primrose” during the years her safe house was in Hogsmeade. As of 2018 Darla again lives among muggle under her original name, Higgins. However Casey uses both identities and regularly obscures her location with the Claggin/Higgins name similarity to keep Darla from being found out by the O’Doherty family. Or worse.Adding to the Claggin FamilyWhomever you’d like to bring to the table, as Primrose was the only fixed point. If you’re working on a character that needs a surname, or you want to borrow the element of tracing lineage to Elfrida Clagg in your own family tales, have at. It would be far too stilted for me to create further NPCs to loan out. Rather, the Claggin name (and any relatives) are available to anyone who doesn’t mind an extra wrinkle when fleshing out your characters. That said, I’ve always been interested in stories involving Casey/Hexy and the actual Claggin family of Elfrida’s descendants. Are they suspicious of the name “Hexmerelda Claggin”? Not noticing until there’s cracks in the cover story? Or maybe forming a surrogate family of sorts?Back to Nav Skip to next post Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #3 on July 24, 2024, 12:09:11 AM Other central character:Beverly the PúcaBio, wikiThe Pienas FamilyThe "Half-blooded Muggleborn"Patrica Pienas was a Mexican/American who grew up in Texas before immigrating to London. She works as a paralegal and is very skittish about comprehending magic. Mostly stemming from memory issues wrought by various Obliviations. If it wasn't for the vague recollection of having a child with a wizard, she'd otherwise be the single mother of a muggleborn witch. Her status as Drea's only family with no magical relatives has caused them to slip through the cracks of the Ministry bureaucracy on occasion. Past attempts to recover her lost memories ultimately failed.Roommate at Hiraeth GardensI'll leave a modified version of my 'Prophet Classifieds' style ad from the Find a Flatmate thread. She's fairer skinned than her parent(s) because of recessive genetics.Drea's father was experimenting with magic before and after she was born. We have him to thank for how her name is spelled on her birth certificate. At roughly 6 years of age, Drea nearly wasted away to death due to some sort of curse or magical disease wrought by her father's negligence. Her recovery from such would be detectable today but it's not something commonly tested. Also around this time was when Beverly the Púca bonded with Drea as her childhood friend her parents didn't know about. After what Drea's father did, she retaliated violently against him, who just managed to fend her off. Beverly is the only one to remember who Drea's dad is although she never brings it up.Whether out of guilt, shame, or just to cover his tracks, hastily memory charms were cast on Patricia. Drea's mainly suppressed these memories until a frightening incident in her 2nd year that stirred up some of these memories as nightmares. Relatedly, her lifelong boggart "Zombie Drea" is an inferius version of herself based on this near-death experience. Thus Drea and Patricia were left ignorant of her magical potential until it fully manifested in the incident that permanently added green polka-dots to her hair. Beverly was forgotten about as only an 'imaginary friend.' Drea's journey into her school years were not the best they could have been as a consequence of her father's actions, however deliberate or unintended. After all that criteria...anybody? All credit goes to past member Thea who outlined the Canterbury family as relatives of her characters Griffon Manley and Corduroy Canterbury. I was asking around to place an albinistic aristocratic Ravenclaw goth pureblood with only the name Ligeia to go by. She agreed for me to write her in as Polka-Dot Canterbury's younger sister. Given the textile theme naming involving various family members, it's also why her initials P.E. stand for Polly Esther, a subdued pun.Argyle Canterbury (Gryffindor, Class of 1920) is to thank for the incredibly twisty family tree. He has a storied career as both an auror and long serving member of the Wizengamot. He's also been married and divorced several times with numerous offspring. He often invites family and friends on lavish vacations and hunting trips. I liken both his appearance and demeanor to when Thea used Anthony Hopkins for his FC, as fitting Hopkins' more eccentric roles. Wife #7, Hannah Darrion, is my creation to be Dot & Ligeia's mother. The Canterbury Estate, a manor house in Mold-on-the-Wold has had several generations of the wives and half-siblings living there. The increasingly "Munsters/Addams" style of mystique and decor is my attribution given Ligeia's magical interests and need to remain indoors. It's also her quirk of referring to her older half-siblings as Uncles & Aunts. The more pureblooded members of the Canterbury family can trace relations to other noted families, including the O'Doherty family and Cody's Prewett Family (as Wilhemina Canterbury married into it).Adoptable CharactersArgyle and Polka-Dot are marked as a Reference and Open NPC, respectfully, on the wiki. Although Thea's NPCs, the latter being Open and Ligeia's biological sister makes the most sense to include her here.At present, I view Hannah and her daughters being British/Russian owing to Ligeia's longest serving FC Nastya Kumarova being Russian. Argyle was in his 70s when Ligeia was conceived, so we don't need him fathering anymore children later in life. The official wife count is 7 and his marriage with Hannah is more or less steady. I only know of 3 marriages (as Griffon, Corduroy and Dot/Ligeia all have different mothers) but not the exact order. Anybody adding to unspecified areas should be fair game as long as it doesn't step on the toes of prior characters. Out of wedlock offspring are possible but preference is kept to a minimum.Otherwise, a fun part of all these half-siblings is taking the most unlikely FCs and saying "yeah, sure" to them being related through Argyle's various marriages. Once upon a time you had to picture Ligeia's FC being related to Mike Rowe (Griffon) or Jason Mamoa (Corduroy). During the 2nd War they went underground, supported by a muggle parish where they still attend services regularly. I was taken with Becky's writing of Gloria given her Narnia-esque depiction of their Wizarding Christian faith and her openness in throwing Gloria into the mix to see what happened as a result. We were both fans of the 2000s era Chronicles of Narnia films, and Gerogie Henley's Lucy Pevensie was Becky's favorite character. Or his brother was the 'black sheep;' whatever the case, Gloria never likes being associated with that blot on the family's record.Evangeline being from the Podmore family, another name seen across canon, would be presumably related to any or all of Sturgis Podmore, of the Order of the Phoenix; Hector Podmore, British Envoy to the ICW as of 1926; & ghost Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore, leader of the Headless Hunt. Again, plenty room to insert new material.Back to Nav Skip to next post Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #6 on July 24, 2024, 11:44:24 PM The Gries FamilyHalf-bloods/Muggleborns(?)Gerard's story is one of loss and estrangement from the joining of two families across Europe. Yet there's also the chance of reunion and closure, all these years later. We begin with his Belgian origins. Gerard is the elder to his brother Henri born to Hercule and Lenore Gries. The family lived near Spa and the boys explored the Ardennes Mountains. Lenore's father was muggle, psychologist Dr. Jean-Luc Giraud. He insisted on tutoring his children and grandchildren on all that "man" (meaning muggle) had discovered through science and reason besides their studies of magic. Gerard was especially taken with these studies, influencing his decision to study at the Catholic University of Leuven for his Masters in Psychology & Psychiatry after graduating Beauxbatons. Herni wasn't as much of a scholar, although he was the more aggressive boxer to Gerard's calculated style as the brothers trained in the sport. Gerard met Dorothy Mills at the 1974 Quidditch World Cup hosted in France. They married 3 years later and settled in Belgium. Gerard's work as a researcher into the Mind soon consumed him, although the birth of their daughter Gwendolyn Gries-Mills in May 22 1986 brought them back together. However, Gerard would soon cut ties with his brother a few years later. At the unexpected death of their parents in quick succession, Henri had failed to inform Gerard of their passing. They came to blows, much like Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore, and have not communicated since.Adoptable CharacterFace Claims are open!Henri (wiki WIP)Beauxbatons, Class of 1975 (~60 yrs old)Gerard's younger brotherGerard and Henri had an idyllic childhood, only to have a falling out in the late 1980s. Even after confronting his alcoholism, when Gerard worked at Beauxbatons as Academic Advisor he still didn't reach out to Henri. Or at least, he hadn't by the 2010 spring term when he was part of BB's delegation for the Tetrawizard Tournament. With Henri's more aggressive boxing style, it suggests he may have more martial prowess with magic compared to Gerard's scholarly aptitude, although he was also tutored by their muggle grandfather Dr. Jean-Luc Giraud.Open: appearance, birth date, personality, wand, personal history, new family, classes, careerAdding to the Gries FamilyHenri Gries is likely to have his own family that Gerard may or may not know about, depending on dates. There's a 9 year window from Gerard & Dorothy's marriage to Gwendolyn's birth, as the fallout occurs a few years later. Given Belgian wix attend Beauxbatons, when Gerard was Academic Advisor from 2001 to 2014 any recognition of Henri's own children/grandchildren attending would have been noticeable. The '09/'10 term has a gap from Gerard's involvement with the Tetrawizard Tournament at Hogwarts, so I learn towards that time and after rather than before. Although nothing is off the table. Also, to highlight Lenore's family the muggle lineage of the Giruads is noted for its scholars in psychology, philosophy and the humanities. The Mills FamilyHalf-bloods/MugglebornsDorothy's family originally hailed from Ireland although they had moved to Dorset, England before she was born. She attended Hogwarts during the span of time that Dumbledore took the Headmaster position after Dippet, and possibly graduated right before Voldemort's jinx on the D.A.D.A. position was fully realized. She had recently graduated before meeting Gerard at the 1974 Quidditch World Cup. She was cheering for Wales compared to Gerard's Belgium. During their courtship and honeymoon they toured both Belgium and the UK, although Dorothy's favorite vacations were in her ancestral home of the Emerald Isle. When they settled in Belgium Dorothy was posted as a foreign correspondent for the Daily Prophet. She lost a brother during the 1st rise of Voldemort and would also become casualties of the 2nd War along with her daughter and muggleborn cousin. Their hideout was somewhere in Northern Ireland, where Gerard left magical gravestones for the three after surviving his encounter with the Death Eaters that killed them. The other Mills are unspecified Irish/British.Adding to the Mills FamilyMills is a rather common surname. Only Dorothy was named, her deceased and living relatives are open. Given his grief Gerard hasn't gone out of his way to reach out to any of them, similar to his estrangement with Henri. Some may be sympathetic for their shared loss, others may consider him negligent for not doing more to support Dorothy.Back to Nav Skip to next post Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #7 on August 31, 2024, 12:45:24 PM The Vemulakonda FamilyHalf-bloodsHarlan as a character concept is one I've had for a long time. However, his family has never been fleshed out. Thus I have the broad strokes outlined here. There's plenty of wiggle room for anyone interested in adopting a character.Mother Mina (nee Patel) is British Indian and attended Hogwarts sorted to Slytherin. Lakshman and his mother Neelima are from the Andhra Pradesh state of India. They are culturally and linguistically Telugu, which is the language spoken at home. Harlan's father and grandmother list their surname first during introductions, which has its origins from the village of Vemula. Lakshman attended an Indian magic school, and both he and his children are familiar with communities in India that had close ties between magic and non-magic folk. Neelima is widowed from marriage with an Indian wizard, with her children and grandchildren as proof the magic only skipped her generation. The family is upper middle class, able to live across various properties owing to Lakshman's work as an ambassador. Their UK residence is in Birmmingham, West Midlands. They are suggested to own several pets. Harlan has a pet leopard gecko named Ket and the family post owl is an unusually stealthy Bengal eagle-owl named Pechi.Adoptable CharactersFace Claims are open!Lakshman (wiki WIP)Diplomat, Ambassador for the Indian Ministry (Southern region)Unknown School & Class (aged mid 40s to 50s)Harlan and Karuna's father, Mina's husbandLakshman came from an agricultural background, although his star for politics shown when he strove to improve the lives of others in his community. Only this time, her whole biological family. But that’s not the only reason to post Want Ads for her.As mentioned in her Character Origins, the earliest draft of Ursula’s character was to be the youngest of a large family. Only since my return to Absit Omen have I gone down the path of her being fostered, creating questions of not only her biological family but who her family (found or fostered) is of the present. “Strougler” is not her actual name, being borrowed from a famous wizard on a Chocolate Frog Card. Some patented “convoluted plots/setup nonsense by Will” laces this mystery with necessarily known elements for a character designed to be ethnically ambiguous at first appearance. That being her unusual road to Hogwarts, discovered as raised in Czechia while, unknown to her, having origins from the Americas for her genetic makeup.Ultimately, whoever wants to be involved with these aspects of Ursula’s story can be living or dead characters, previously established or not. I also have adoptable characters of a sort via the family the fostered her before she received her letter. Although I put even less focus on them than I did for Harlan’s family when I was jointly prepping both of their bios.Adoptable(?) or Insert CharactersThose mentioned in Ursula’s bio from Czechia are welcome to be developed. When she was at the child home (dêtskÿ domov) she would have been the only magical child in the community. Any muggles, from caretakers to foster siblings, may or may not remember her based on the wix response to when Ursula (then Jana Novakova) hexed the other kids. Her time in this community occurred in her early childhood, perhaps between the ages of 2 and 7 (~2006 to 2011).In the magical family that raised her, I only mention the two siblings (sister elder to the brother) and their uncle, the woodcrafter that designed her magical limb. There are presumably parents as well, so say nothing of other relatives. Most attended Durmstrang, including the sister a grade or two older than Ursula. Again, they knew her as Jana during the period she was with them, roughly between the ages of 7 and 10 and a half (~2011 to 2015)Guardians and Foster FamilyAfter her time raised in Czechia, Ursula was being prepared to attend Hogwarts over several months before the autumn 2016 term. Her letter would have arrived after her actual birthdate, so in November of 2011 when all the various international wix discuss the matter with her first foster family. She probably didn’t enter the UK until the late spring/early summer of 2016. Those she stayed with during this time of school prep, and who’s been fostering Ursula during her initial years at Hogwarts, is open. Those handling the social work of Ursula’s case are also included in this category.Whoever her ‘found’ family ends up being is also open. Hopefully most of the details will be role played out. PM my primary account (Heliotrope) if you have ideas.Biological FamilySome things are fixed:Ursula is her given name. She was born on Nov 3 2004 near Norwich, Norfolk. At least one of her parents has a Mesoamerican racial profile (direct ancestry to pre-colonization Mexico/Central America)Some things are open:Identities of her British/other makeup, which would be recessive traits to her dominant genes. How she came to be rescued in Czechia from the hag.Who else, if any, perished in the timeframe of the hag attacks (~2005 or 2006).Her actual family name; even that S might be misconstrued on her partial school record in the Book of Admittance.Any and all ideas in this realm are welcome!
Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #1 on July 23, 2024, 10:41:24 PM The Falkin FamilyHalf-bloods & mugglebornsLexicon, NPC statsThe Falkin family was my take on a Weasley-like family. Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #2 on July 23, 2024, 11:26:44 PM Other central charactersDingy -> Dinghee, former O'Doherty enslaved elfBio, wikiMartin O'Doherty, corrupt attorney & lobbyistBio, wikiThe O'Doherty FamilyPure-bloods & Half-bloodsLexicon, NPC statsOnce said to be within the top five richest families in wizarding Europe, these stupidly wealthy Irish loan sharks have had various legitimate and illegitimate businesses. Or maybe forming a surrogate family of sorts?Back to Nav Skip to next post
Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #3 on July 24, 2024, 12:09:11 AM Other central character:Beverly the PúcaBio, wikiThe Pienas FamilyThe "Half-blooded Muggleborn"Patrica Pienas was a Mexican/American who grew up in Texas before immigrating to London. I've indicated that Drea has an unspecified roommate, although I can't imagine too many with the flat having greenhouse use.Classified Type: HousingQuerent: Obderedria PienasBudget: Two occupations, muggle converted salaryLikes: Muggle cinema, sharing recipesDislikes: Needless waste, insults/attacks on others based on physical appearancePets: 1 cat (11 yrs), 1 rabbit (Flemish Giant size, age unknown), 1 dwarf fruit tree (please ask before picking fruits)Chore List: Cooking, houseplants, laundry# of roommates: 1 (2 at most)Dates posted: 2015 to 2017Wanted: The Unknown WizardHere's what's been established about Obderedria's father:Drea is White/Latina, although London raised since birth. Be the Unknown Wizard alive or dead, it's the discovery of Obderedria's other family and the shadow legacy from "dear old dad" that would be of interest when exploring these stories in future.Adoptable CharacterSuggested FC: Isabella MercadoRaquel MagroUnknown muggle schoolNear Class of '12 (~24)Obderedria's cousin, Patricia's oldest nieceRaquel is from the Magro family related to the Pienas family, inheriting the latter's infamous bottom heavy physique. With much suppression of magic and fielding questions of why her hair is spotted.Back to Nav Skip to next post
Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #4 on July 24, 2024, 02:15:27 AM The Canterbury FamilyLexicon, NPC statsPure-bloods/Half-bloods/All the bloodsUpfront: The Canterbury family is not my creation. Thea once used Dutch model Doutzen Kroes as Polka-Dot's FC. Of course, neither of these are required but it was worth mentioning.Face Claims are open!Polka-DotFashion Model & DesignerUnknown House, Class of '05 (~31 yrs old)2nd youngest daughter of Argyle, oldest of Hannah's daughtersDot is older than Ligeia by 6 years. Dot takes after Hannah and the more stable minded of the Canterbury relatives compared to Ligeia following Argyle and the other eccentrics. She works as a fashion model in Paris and is often joined by Hannah who supports her career.Open: appearance, birth date, personality, wand, personal history, House, classesFace Claims are open!Hannah Vasilisa DarrionSocialiteUndecided House, Class of 1978 (~58 yrs old)Argyle's seventh wife, mother to Polka-Dot & P.E. She was honestly hoping he would soon drop dead so she could claim his fortune but love soon turned more playful. Theirs is a very on-again, off-again marriage with just as many pastimes apart as together, although Argyle's notorious flirting is enough to bring her back home to the Canterbury Estate to correct him. Closer with Polka-Dot, helping support her career in Paris. Her non-UK lineage traces back to relatives from Kolodovstoretz who claim direct ancestry from Volga Svyatoslavich, a bylina epic hero.Open: appearance, birth date, personality, wand, personal history, House/School, family background, classesAdding to the Canterbury FamilyI have a few ground rules as a writer carrying the torch for Thea's characters.Polka-Dot & Ligeia are absolutely his youngest daughters. And as for branches of the Canterbury tree from Argyle's own parents and any siblings...Merlin help us.I'm also open to exploring Hannah's relatives, being one of my contributions to the Canterbury family.Back to Nav Skip to next post
Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #5 on July 24, 2024, 09:57:31 AM The Gibbon FamilyHalf-bloodsGloria was originally written by a college classmate, Becky, that I introduced to AO. The Gibbon name is taken from the Death Eater who died in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower in the climax of Half Blood Prince. Gloria's father, Clarence, is the younger brother of this Gibbon. Gloria's parents reside in West Yorkshire.Adoptable CharactersHaving met Becky IRL, although years ago when we lost touch, I have a better understanding of her characters. In some of our last interactions I asked about adopting Gloria, so her open permissions I'll share with others if they want to adopt or join the family.Suggested FC: Rob BrydonClarenceSt. Mungo's Sr. Mediwix, sp. Starting a family with school sweetheart Evangeline Podmore, however, soon took a turn with the attack on the Ministry. Her postings have been across Europe, Russia, and most recently Morocco, Africa. She knows several languages. She can be away for months at a time but the family communicates by owl and two-way mirror. She brings home plenty of souvenirs and storiesFixed: birth date in FebruaryOpen: appearance, personality, wand, personal history, family background, classesAdding to the Gibbon FamilyGloria is the oldest of unspecified siblings, perhaps 2-3 others. They could be school age or graduating, any House is possible as Gloria and her parents were sorted into 3 of the 4. While the family is religious I would leave it to other writers for how they would want to implement that background.Since there's still not much known about the Gibbon family in general, Clarence could be the 'white sheep' of a more Dark Arts/purist minded family. Again, plenty room to insert new material.Back to Nav Skip to next post
Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #6 on July 24, 2024, 11:44:24 PM The Gries FamilyHalf-bloods/Muggleborns(?)Gerard's story is one of loss and estrangement from the joining of two families across Europe. Some may be sympathetic for their shared loss, others may consider him negligent for not doing more to support Dorothy.Back to Nav Skip to next post
Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #7 on August 31, 2024, 12:45:24 PM The Vemulakonda FamilyHalf-bloodsHarlan as a character concept is one I've had for a long time. Re: A Variety of Toppings // Will's Want Ads Reply #8 on December 26, 2024, 05:29:30 PM Who Is Ursula S?The central question for Ursula is like the question of Drea’s unknown wizard dad.
