[19th Nov] The Ghost of an Idea (OPEN)

on December 18, 2018, 01:50:39 PM

A scattering of neatly rolled up parchments fall alongside the weekend morning owl mail, each one secured by a red velvet ribbon and matching wax seal. The flyers carry the Stardust Theatre insignia - the illustrations inside are of Christmas trees, wreathes, and silhouettes.

The Stardust Theatre Youth Troupe presents
A Christmas Carol

***

The troupe assembles  every winter break to perform a short play on the 24th, 25th, and 26th of December. Members will also be expected to plan for a longer summer performance next season. All earnings go to charity.

Dear Misters V. and E. Carstairs,

Hello. My name is Sulwen Reid and I'm eleven years old. My mother, Asami Reid, is interested in signing me up as a potential member for your youth troupe this December. I've attached the letter she sent to me, along with her signature (please ignore the sentences I've whited out as they all have to do with school and family matters). Are any other signatures required? I have many relatives. I'd be happy to reach out to my relatives and request their permission as well, though I can't guarantee that they would reply in time. May I ask how many roles are available? I won't be upset if all the roles have been picked.

In fact, I have an idea.

You'll see from my mother's letter that she feels I should join the troupe in order to improve my dismal public speaking skills, however, isn't it true that all the roles involve speaking to the public in some capacity? I've no idea what a 'stagehand' does, but if it involves behind-the-scenes ordering people about, perhaps that would be best for all parties? I appreciate your consideration.

Thank you,
Sulwen Reid

P.S. I apologize for being so particular.
P.P.S Please ignore any letters about me from a Hufflepuff named Wesley Wold. He is sad he can't join the troupe and thinks I should be a 'lead' in his absence.
Also Feliks Spectre. Please ignore.

A neatly written letter, accompanied by a typed up permission slip  on Ministry paper (signed by Balfour Spectre).

Hello,

Thank you for reading this. I have never been to a play but I have done little ones growing up and here at school. I have read A Christmas Carol many times. I hope I can be useful? My papa has given his permission.

Name: Feliks Spectre
Age: 10 11 years old
Talents: I can juggle. And change my face. Maybe sing?

Also, you should give Sulwen a nice role and not let her hide behind a certain. She can be very scary.

A luxury envelope personalised with the initials C.C in the bottom left corner, with two slips of paper, one with Contessa's slanted handwriting and the other slightly burnt with the neat handwriting of her mother.

Dear Misters V. and E. Carstairs,
Hi! So, honestly, acting isn't exactly my dream job or whatever, but this seems like fun and mother and father say I'd be good at it ,though they're parents, they're supposed to say that, so I don't really believe them. Still, I'd like to give it a go, it could come in useful!

But that's besides the point. Anyway, yeah so I'm 11 years old but I'm perfectly capable of handling whatever you throw at me so please don't give me some silly childish thing to do in order to get rid of me or whatever. I don't really care what you get me to do, hell if you don't need my help just say, but please just have it be something interesting. I'm happy to perform in front of a crowd, never really saw why crowds bothered people, I mean it's just a load of people watching you, it's not like they're monsters. I guess I could be a stagehand as well actually, I don't really mind. Just as long as it isn't boring. Boredom is the stem of all trouble if you ask me.

Oh, I forgot to mention! My name is Contessa Clarienceaux, it would be a bit awkward if I forgot to enclose my name, wouldn't it? Though I suppose that is also on the permission slip mother and father signed. Ignore the burn mark in the corner, I was practicing a spell and accidently set the table on fire. But it's okay, the slip is still intact and it's such a small burn anyway. Well, I can't wait for to meet everybody! This is going to be the best performance of a Christmas carol ever performed!

From,
          Contessa Juliet Clarienceaux

P.S If the owl bites then just feed him whatever you've got, he isn't picky.Excuse his bad behaviour, he's Christian's, I had to borrow him.
