Character History 2013 - 2017: Monty had hopes that Zeta might enter into the art world following his footsteps. Life wasn’t so easy on her post Hogwarts. He has had to learn not to interfere and try to solve her problems, but her stint in St Mungo’s really brought back memories of her late aunt Claire and a cold feeling of dread. He is glad she is well again and is guilty of spontaneous visits, letters etc. just to see her face when he gets a bad feeling.
Eta meanwhile never broke out of her wish to follow her heart in Divination. He was initially a bit worried about Artemis Coven before his dear wife reminded him he’d been quite the hippy sort along the way. He feels much happier knowing the coven is all witches, knowing what they all got up to in that period of his life.
He is fiercely proud of Theta, his eldest. It was quite daunting to have her fall in love with a Gamp. Initially he didn’t quite know if he would get on with Hyperion, because he seemed a bit of a posh git. However, he saw how Theta interacted with him, and him to her. He’s also not short of a bit of dosh, which helps, of course. They have bonded over flying cars, and of course, his first grandchildren. Monty is besotted and wants to babysit all the time he can fit it in.
Towards the end of 2012 he got a bit of surprise publicity as he had created the only official portrait of Edwin Glass, a disgraced Minister. It was a huge alarm and betrayal to hear what his old friend had been up to before becoming Minister. It left Monty shook for some time, worried he had everyone judged wrong. However, he had a waiting list of sitters to paint, so he had to get on with it and make the best.
One positive thing from Edwin’s stint as a Minister was progressing Monty’s dream to have Britain adopt flying cars. The path was not without bumps and issues, but he was definitely in the right place at the right time. A British native with his own flying car company, and twenty odd years of experience of the market across the pond. He has managed to expand the business to a workshop in Britain, but the cars are still manufactured in the US, and he splits his time back and forth there. Blue Silver is due to launch its line of magical flying motorcycles in 2018 in the UK.
His wife, Catherine, has taken early retirement as an accountant. As a muggle, she had tried to live her non-magical life but with her husband’s more recent success, her income is no longer necessary. Instead, she spends her time as chief babysitter, helping her husband understand business numbers and keeping track of his portrait business for him.
They still live in the same house in Sandy, only with all the children having moved out, the bedrooms now include a little office or craft room, and space for the grandchildren to sleep.
Summary:Monty has seen great success with Britain moving to adopt flying cars. His business,
Blue Silver has expanded, and he still keeps painting portraits when he can. His muggle wife, Catherine, has ‘retired’ to help with grandchildren, and the businesses. Monty is a proud (but often worried) father, and a besotted grandfather.
