The wand of yew is reputed to endow its possessor with the power of life and death, which might, of course, be said of all wands; and yet yew retains a particularly dark and fearsome reputation in the spheres of duelling and all curses. However, it is untrue to say (as those unlearned in wandlore often do) that those who use yew wands are more likely to be attracted to the Dark Arts than another. The witch or wizard best suited to a yew wand might equally prove a fierce protector of others.Wands hewn from these most long-lived trees have been found in the possession of heroes quite as often as of villains. Where wizards have been buried with wands of yew, the wand generally sprouts into a tree guarding the dead owner’s grave. What is certain is that the yew wand never chooses either a mediocre or a timid owner. How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Slytherin was the obvious choice due to her ambition, cunning, slyness, pride, loyalty and willingness to do anything it took to get what she wanted. The sorting hat did briefly consider Gryffindor but was quick to change its mind.Sum up your character in one paragraph: Contessa is a charismatic and pretty little girl who has come to Hogwarts with a clear goal in her mind: that being becoming Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Watch out though, anger her and she's 4 foot and 8 inches of pure evil.AppearanceEyes: almond shaped, hazel with hints of brown, green, gold and orangeSkin: pale, burns easily, pink cheeksLips: Bow shapeHair: chestnut with hints of redFace shape: ovalBody shape: slimHeight:4 foot 8Fashion style: Always perfectly neat and clean, dirt seems to just slide right off of her. She prefers dresses and skirts to trousers and usually leaves her hair down, though sometimes she'll do them up in two dutch plaits. Gait: Confident with her head held high, footfall silent and perfect postureMannerisms: Uses lots of hand gestures as she talks and never stumbles over her words, at least not unless she's severely shaken up. There's an odd lilt to her voice which comes from a mixture of a French, Italian and English accent.Likes: Her grey kitten Jinx, cats, adventures, winning, competitions, duelling, pranks, freedom, parties, climbing trees, being rightDislikes: losing, being told what to do, rules in general, being underestimated, cowards, people not as smart as she is, condescending people, waiting around for things to happenPersonalityContessa may be young, but she already has a clear idea as to what she wants (to one day become head of the department of magical law enforcement) and how far she is willing to go to get it (she'd do absolutely anything). She's a strong minded, intelligent and ambitious young girl, most definitely not content to just sit around and wait for things to happen, but the sort of person to go out and seek her destiny, and if she doesn't like it, to change it. She firmly believes that success is the only option and is very competitive.Generally Connie's likable, she's friendly, charismatic and an excellent actress after all. Still, growing up with parents who spoilt her rotten means that she has difficulties taking no for an answer and refuses to admit when she's wrong, which can be a bit of an issue. She lies quite a bit and with ease but is too proud to play the helpless or the weak so she often gets annoyed when people see her cute appearance and start cooing. When Contessa's angry, she doesn't do what most kids her age do (that being sulk, cry or shout and scream). Instead, she bottles it up, acting hostile and not exactly rude but very passive aggressive, whilst secretly she plots her revenge. Because she isn't letting her anger burst out, this often leads to some downright cruel revenge plots. However, Contessa is surprisingly forgiving so if you anger her, but apologise (sincerely, she'll know if you are lying) before her revenge plot is complete, then she won't hesitate to forgive you and call the plan off.Contessa has a dry and sarcastic sense of humour, she's sassy and witty. This tends to change however, depending on who she is with as she wants them to like her. She's quite mischievous, has never followed a rule in her life(never having had to deal with the consequences anyway) and is therefore great fun to be around. Bear in mind though that this doesn't make her irresponsible. If she wants to, she can be very mature and responsible, but she is still a child and needs to have fun as well.Contessa can find it hard at times to trust people, However, become her friend and she won't ever let you down. She's loyal to a fault and though usually quite selfish, the complete opposite when it comes to those she cares about. Just watch out that you don't push her too far. She won't hesitate to cut you out, and your neck for that matter.Don't try to restrict her freedom, she hates it.HistoryContessa was born on the 23rd of July to Fantine Clarencieux and Alesso Clarencieux at the Clarencieux estate. But it was only a few months later before her parents moved her and her siblings to a separate manor in Cornwall, aware of the bad influence her family in the estate would be to children. The manor was an incredible place to grow up in. Fantine and Alesso were social butterflies to say the least so they were always throwing parties and introducing a young Contessa( though she was, and still is, known as Connie or Tessa)to exciting new people from all over the world. Because of this, Contessa was never short of friends, and grew up herself to mimic her parent's sociable nature. In fact, it was very rare to find her not with someone else, whether it was with her brothers (Christian and Francesco),her sister (Celestine), her parents, the servants or one of her many friends.Contessa grew up speaking a mix of English, French and Italian, courtesy of her French mother and Italian father. Unlike many pureblood parents, they were very kind to her, to the point of spoiling her, never dealing out consequences or punishments that has lead to her completely disregarding any type of boundary. Her father had grown up in the Clarencieux estate and didn't want Contessa, or any of his kids for that matter, to have the sort of childhood he had had, and her mother had never met her parents( she was an orphan) so Fantine wanted Contessa to always know how much she loved her. They even let her have muggle friends from the village a ten minute walk away, despite how Alesso was raised to hate muggles.Contessa always knew she was a witch and began to show signs of magic from her birth. She learned to control it very early on and by the time she was 7, it was clear that she was abnormally powerful and controlled for a child.Contessa's parents encouraged her to learn as much as she could before school, very supportive of her dream to becoming head of department of magical law enforcement. She had wanted this from before anyone could remember, planning on following in her father's footsteps.Upon her arrival to Hogwarts, Tessa was immediately sorted into slytherin. Classes wise, she's shown a keenness to learn and improve, especially in DADA. As DADA lessons turned more to the practical aspects, Contessa soon showed a natural talent as well. Herbology... not so much.Writing sampleContessa's chocolate curls streamed behind her hair, exposing her pale face tinged pink from excitement to the orange glow of the sun as she tore across the moors. Her stockinged feet were soaked from the morning dew that clung to grass and her pale fingers that clung to a battered old book were numb and tinged blue, but she barely noticed."Tessa! Give it back!"A boy with a wild mop of blonde hair chased after her, a look of half annoyance and half amusement painted across freckled features and shining in blue eyes. His name was Jack, a muggle boy from the village a few minutes away from the manor where Contessa lived and a close friend of hers. The two had met on the moors when they were only 7 and had instantly connected.A breathy giggle escaped Contessa's pink lips and she put on more speed, her grip on the book tightening. It was Jack's latest distraction from his friend, a worn copy of Lord of the Flies, and therefore had to be removed. "You've got to catch me first!" Contessa called over her shoulder, playful mischief dancing in her eyes and making their little golden flecks sparkle just that little bit more. Contessa was very light on her feet and had the added bonus that she had magic (though of course Jack didn't know that, Contessa wasn't stupid), there was no way Jack was catching her.Contessa heard an exasperated groan coming from behind her and giggled once more, risking a glance over her shoulder, confident that it wouldn't affect her lead on the muggle boy.But that proved her doom. Her foot caught on the raised root of an old oak tree and sent her tumbling to the ground, the book flying out of her hand to land a metre or so away.Luckily for Contessa, a thick bed of grass provided a cushion for her and she landed without any injury, asides from maybe one to her ego.The moment Contessa was down, Jack pounced on his book giggling manaicly. Both children knew Contessa was fine. Getting injured just wasnt something the brunette did. She was remarkably resiliant about that kind of stuff, even if she did get hurt, she always bounced right back up.Sure enough, today was no different. Contessa was back at it again in barely more than a second, rolling over on the ground so that she rested on her stomach and reaching one little hand out to grab onto Jack's ankle as he bent to retrieve the book, sending him crashing down to land next to her.She burst out laughing at Jack's cry of annoyance, the sound rising high and clear to echo throughout the moors. It even startled a bird from its nest in the tree above the two children, the magpie taking flight and soaring out towards the sun so that it was temporarily silhouetted in front of warm orangey red light.Contessa's laughter faded away and for a little while the two children lay in comfortable silence underneath the canopy of the old oak tree, supported by a pillow of dewy grass. Contessa let herself relax, relishing in the simple pleasure of the rising sun bathing her face in a warm glow, picking out the reds, golds and oranges in her hair so that it seemed to shimmer. She was going to miss this, fooling around with friends at the ungodly hour of 6 in the morning, out on the moors. Come to think of it, Contessa was going to miss a lot of things in Cornwall. She doubted Hogwarts would have sandy beaches, and large expanses of land to go riding with her siblings. Hogwarts wouldn't have parties thrown every other week, with new and exciting people coming to visit from all over the world to see her extraordinary parents. In fact, Hogwarts wouldn't even have mummy's famous apple crumble.Contessa brushed away these gloomy thoughts. She knew she was just getting last minute jitters before the big day tomorrow when she would be leaving for Hogwarts. After all, all her life Contessa had wanted to go to the place! To be surrounded by fellow witches and wizards, to learn new and exciting things, to play quidditch competitively... what wasn't there to like? They'd be sure to have apple pie, even if it wasn't mummy's apple pie and it wasn't like she was leaving her siblings at home as well, they were coming too. So what if there weren't loads of parties? No doubt mummy and daddy would have twice as many when she came home and besides, Contessa could always throw some herself, no matter what the school faculty said.Whether there were cons to going to Hogwarts or not, she was going. How else would Contessa become Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement if she wasn't educated?"You've got a funny look on your face, Tess. What're you thinking 'bout?"Contessa was startled from her thoughts by the voice of Jack resonating a little way away. She blinked, returning to planet Earth to see that Jack had propped himself up with one arm to get a better look at Contessa. He had his back to the sun so she couldn't really see his face very well, but the look of curiosity, tinged with concern as well, was unmistakable.Contessa shrugged, carefully controlling her facial expressions to show a look of very believable disinterest."Nothing much," she said. No matter how good a friend Jack was, he could ever know. He was a muggle, after all. He was a muggle, and Contessa was a witch. Skip to next post
