Hexy is a mysterious unknown girl looking to live life to the fullest and pulling all sorts of mischief. Her full name is Hexmerelda Claggin and she is presented as a Hufflepuff student (Class of 2014), related to Primrose Claggin, a descendant of Elfrida Clagg, Chieftainess of the Wizards' Council.

In actuality, Hexy is the female alter ego of Casey O'Doherty, a disguise made from removing his Animus Amulet, a brown wig and different styles of clothes. Hexy is built from Casey's early upbringing as a girl until the heads of the family conditioned the child into their male heir. Casey at first used this disguise for deception but Hexy has started to become an avatar of self expression for the tight-laced business formal Casey, being more outspoken and fun loving.

Gender Identity

As a queer character, Casey’s sense of identity has shifted over the years. Casey was born intersex but raised as two different genders as a child. Her mother raised her as a daughter until the elder O’Doherty’s reconditioned the child into a male heir. Casey entered Hogwarts as a boy, yet he’d often feel gender dysphoria tied to both social and biological cues for being not wholly male or female given his atypical physiology. As a gender-fluid student, ‘Hexy’ was a name ascribed to his feminine psyche and times spent as a girl, also influenced by magic during Occlumency training and the strange Body Swap event.

As of 2018, Casey is bi-gender, comfortable with living as a male or female at any given time. Uses He/She for personal pronouns, sometimes ‘we’ mentally. Still living a double life but now for the sake of secret vigilante work. “Hexmerelda Claggin” is a false identity expanded upon across the muggle and wix realms. Initially when Casey was moving Darla away from the O’Doherty family, now the secret identity behind the ‘Felinae’ vigilante avatar.

Whenever Casey is seemingly off the clock, Hexy is the hard to pin down figure in the nightlife and arts scene. She’s had acting gigs in various muggle troupes, sometimes an understudy at Stardust Theatre. Yet ostensibly always between odd jobs and side hustles, making brief appearances at The Black Boar and such before disappearing at times. When Sophie Anderson moved out from home, Hexy joined her in renting one of the more spacious flats at Burgoyne Burbidges Lofts. What really drives her is snooping into various illicit affairs as Casey’s secret vigilante ego to combat the O’Doherty family enterprises. Even reviving the avatar of the cat themed Felinae for secret missions…

Student Era

Hexy was the disguise used by Casey in his first year to hex a tormentor from flying class into oblivion.

Hexy first broke out as a character, as it were, during a bit of espionage at Spellpunk the summer of '09 that went nowhere, instead finding actual fun times to be had. Thus, Hexy is more attracted to doing mischief if it's against the rules (being blatantly underage during the event in question). Hexy is also Casey's chief "double thought" regarding Occlumency training.

Hexy didn't next appear until school in October, first around the Oct 3/4th Hogsmeade Weekend. It was the first time Casey was able to see his mother, Darla O'Doherty after having her moved to the village after her recovery from St. Mungo's. Her memory from Casey's childhood, and catching sight of Casey in full Hexy outfit (used to disguise Casey's involvement with the cottage) convinced her that Casey was still her daughter and identified herself as female. This is not what Casey wanted but decides on the spot that being 'Hexy' around his mother is the best thing for her. (Wondering Child) Though lo and behold, who should come knocking at the new neighbor's door but Zoe Torret whose family lives in the area. Hexy, in trying to rebuff Zoe from visiting the cottage, ends up befriending her over lunch at the Three Broomsticks, laying out her backstory. This boost of confidence is enough for Hexy to more openly explore Hogsmeade the rest of the weekend. The day after befriending Zoe, Hexy and Ted Lupin sneak into the Shrieking Shack after a chance meeting.

Later in October, Casey is influenced by the First Task of the TetaWizard Tournament to try acromantula hunting one night. It's running into two others with motives in the acromantula hollow that night (Dahlia Collins gathering ingredients, Salem Champion Taryn Dickenson trying to figure out her clue) that leads Casey to hastily adopt Hexy in disguise. Narrowing getting away from the other girls, Hexy departs via house elf apparition with one menacing acromantula warped to the cellar of Doherty Manor...

November brings about the most pivotal changes to Hexy's persona. On the infamous Body Swap day Hexy's personality is stripped from Casey to house in the body of Heliotrope LeJean during the day. Hexy, feeling detached from school setting, takes to sneaking into Hogsmeade again and making mischief with ill gotten loot from Zonko's and Honeydukes.

Afterwards Hexy is singled out to join the Gwyllion Fae (by someone who already knows she is 'Casey'...). As the group gets used to working with each other Hexy fights an eldritch abomination in the basement of Hogwarts with Katy Bevans and explores the Maleficium owned by Amara Báthory.

But Hexy becomes the most developed as Casey starts to loose core elements of his personality. The family wand is reclaimed. Dingy's appearances at school are restricted to not reveal Darla's location. And during a practice broom flight Casey's appearance changing amulet is lost to the lake. Thus Hexy is now the default appearance (to an extent). Feeling that there's little else to loose, Hexy makes appearances at school and ends up turning the Room of Requirement into a nightclub themed battle dojo to keep up with the other Gwyllion Fae members. (though it's odd how Hexy has more energy than Casey, isn't it...?)

One session in December, just when Hexy began dual wielding with both replacement wand and family wand 'borrowed' at odd hours, has Zoe uncover the room, her own new wand in need of experience. Zoe later invites Hexy to visit during the holidays. In the winter Hogsmeade visit Hexy also accidentally trips Arianna Wickwood during her new work as a waitress.

Upon finding that her mother worked on part of a Yule Ball outfit (An Elf's Work is Never Done) Hexy decides to attend the Yule Ball under the identity of her Gwyllion Fae avatar Felinae, but people keep trying to unmask her during the event. In the following train ride home Hexy and Zoe share a compartment with Alvis Norling on the way to her holiday with the Torrets. The vacation ends a day shorter when Casey must make appearances with his father at an Opera.

Following Casey's confession to Alvis in the spring holiday, appearances by Hexy appear to taper off going into Casey's 5th year. The persona is symbolically rejected when Casey twists the Gwyllion Fae fallout into an urban legend during an Astronomy Club event at Halloween. Yet he can't skate by the anniversary of the infamous Body Swap day without a new occurrence...

Felinae’s Kit

Casey has accumulated several artifacts for the use of various endeavors. Although some or all have been used with various personae, they are listed under the Feline avatar for ease of skulduggery. Usually, ‘Hexmerelda Claggin’ is the appearance under the mask.

Felinae’s Costume - When the selected witches of the Class of ’13 became the latest(?) initiates of the Gwyllion Fae, each were given a special silver mask with a black traveling cloak. The cloak has no magical properties of its own, although the mask can be stowed and retrieved from the cloak only by its user. The mask also distorts the wearer’s voice; for Casey/Hexy the tone is husky and seductive. Added to this was a belted set of Mokeskin pouch Hplink.png to store multiple sets of items. Each pouch was hidden in the folds of a skirt.

Hand of Glory - Casey’s Hand of Glory was acquired in the summer shortly after the end of his 3rd year.

Invisibility Cloak - Casey’s Invisibility Cloak Hplink.png was acquired in October of his 4th year after several months of navigating the market. It is made from the best materials and stored in a lightness box. It’s suggested to have 20 years of use. Casey’s invisibility spells are on par with the cloak, so its use has been dictated by severity of the mission.

Sticky Trainers - Casey’s first pair of Sticky Trainers Hplink.png were stolen from Zonko’s in November of 4th year, when Hexy’s persona had been split into Heliotrope LeJean’s body. The shoes are useful for climbing and walking walls and ceilings, although cumbersome so they are chiefly used for stealth.

Tagger Paint - Casey’s first use of Tagger Paint also stems from Hexy’s escapades mentioned above during the Zonko’s theft. A crude graffiti style is associated with both Hexy and Felinae.

Pensieve - Casey’s owning of a Pensive Hplink.png is associated only with the male persona. It is only ever stored at hideouts.

Runic Vambrace - Felinae is sometimes seen with a Vambrace said to be jail-broken from a stolen early prototype. It has heraldry based on the Noble Neurergus dragon, after the dragon model Hexy received in a wizard cracker. The amulet uses the name Hexmerelda Claggin. Casey's own Vambrace, as a co-founder of Phaëthon Artifice, has no such embellishment. Its amulet uses Casey's actual name.
