Minister of Magic Solomon Carstairs' shortlist of candidates to replace Richard Morrigan on the International Confederation of Wizards has been leaked. The list consists of career Ministry, current and former Wizengamot elders, and other well-placed leaders of the Magical community.

Political know-alls favor Eidra Gracious, a lawyer from the Department of International Magical Cooperation who has argued before the ICW on several occasions. Others on the list include Wilhelmina Prewett, Magda Fizzwhitz, Mordecai Hollingbury, Warwick Cesswick, Douglas Reid, and Sarah Whitman.

The inclusion of Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot Enoch Gamp and the innumerably honored Minerva McGonagal is likely to be a customary show of respect for many years of counsel and service.

Among the more controversial considerations is former Wizengamot Elder and Hogwarts Headmaster Knox Greyfriar. Greyfriar made news in 2012 for having resigned from both posts following revelations of misconduct in the aftermath of the Second Wizarding War. He currently acts as a sorcerer at the Knareswick Phrontistery, and has published on the history of mago-muggle relations. If Greyfriar were to be seated, he would be the first werewolf to hold the post for the British Ministry.

In the normal procedure, the Minister of Magic considers candidates in private and recommends his top choice to the Wizengamot who must confer a seal of approval. The entire thing is known to be rather coy, a careful massaging of egos meant to select an effective but inoffensive representative.

The Ministry of Magic typically maintains two seats. The other is currently held by Lawanda Warrington.

Readers are asked to take the list with a grain of salt; the process is in early days and public response could lead to pivots.
