Cora Pepper is a shopkeeper, Enchanter and skilled Craftswoman at Odds & Ends on Candlestick Row. A bit like the shop, she is a mixed bag - perhaps not to everyone's taste but charming enough conversation for people passing through.

You may find that she talks either too much or too little, rants without provocation, and that she has a fantastic reserve of restless energy.

Due to her erratic behaviour and personal history, she is reluctant to reconnect with old friends.

History

As a child and young witch, Cora was as bright as they come. She was interested in everything but especially her father's work at the shop, where he sold used books and repaired all manner of magical objects. Everything from remembralls to clocks to broomsticks and whatnot.

At Hogwarts she was relatively diligent but struggled with subjects that didn't interest her. She discovered a thrillseeking streak among fellow Gryffindors and did not resist it. This eventually landed her in a bad set of other students who encouraged her reckless tendencies.

Cora struggled but made it through school with NEWTs in Runes, Arithmancy, Charms and Transfiguration. Many of her emotional problems manifested at home and so she was quick to move out as soon as possible, while apprenticing as an Enchanter with one of her parent's friends.

For a while, it seemed like life was stable. Cora genuinely enjoyed her training - at least she did until she fell into a tempestuous relationship with her teacher. The years that followed were very difficult.

Although she finished training, Cora was in the habit of falling in and out of intense relationships - between which she would heavily rely on substance abuse for emotional stability. When her mother passed away in 2013, Cora fell into a cycle of unhealthy habits to cope with her grief.

She broke up with her then-girlfriend and dropped all her friend groups, leaning instead on chance-acquaintances who supplied her with mood bolstering potions and Muse. After a particularly deep bender in 2015, Cora attempted to break into her father's shop on Candlestick Row. She was caught by authorities but quickly released into her father's care.

Since then, Cora has been clean and resumed working at Odds & Ends in 2016.
