Tim is a patient, courageous friend and natural leader. Son of an unspeakable with a lot of changes in his home life in his teens, he enjoyed the stability of Hogwarts. Now a spell damage healer, something Tim aspired to be ever since his late mother's accident.
Name Meaning
Timothy - English form of the Greek name Τιμοθεος (Timotheos) meaning "honouring God", derived from τιμαω (timao) "to honour" and θεος (theos) "god"
Filius - Comes from the latin word "filius" meaning "son." Name of Tim's paternal grandfather.
Appearance
Shorter than his brother Ambrose, and definitely slighter in build, one might say Tim takes after his late mother more than his father in appearance. He has darker brown hair, blue eyes, and pale skin that he still treats with pimple cream.
Tim walks gently, dipping his head, and is considered in his actions. He doesn't consider himself conventionally handsome (he'll look to Ambrose for that) but he is charmed by women and has suffered more than a few crushes. He's capable of a tremendous blush, right up to the hairline.
Tim's wardrobe has always included plenty of jeans, t-shirts and jumpers, but now includes suits, shirts and ties to go with his healer robes. He scrubs up well and is the sort of wizard you could take home to meet your parents. Maybe one day a witch will.
Personality
Tim is not short on brains. He had enough to sit above average in his year at Hogwarts. When he was truly captivated by a subject, Tim could achieve grades that make his father very proud. Tim's mind wasn't always on task in lessons. He always has plans of his own, dreams to be a healer, or find another life path that intrigued and satisfied his moral interests. As such, he was liable to do the required minimum on homework and spend time researching something else that had caught his eye. Occasionally he surprised his favourite professors with an essay or piece of writing which he would like their opinion on.
Tim is sensible, logical and determined. He is patient, whether it is to learn something himself, help his brother out, or a friend he will see something through from start to finish. He finds joy in helping others achieve their dreams, and is a good friend and brother for devoting time to working with others.
Although Tim has only just begun to realise it, he is a natural leader. An independent soul, his peers are willing to follow his suggestion and lead on things without him outrightly insisting. If it were pointed out, he can be terribly self-conscious.
He is ambitious in his plans, courageous. He might have been a good fit for Gryffindor if he hadn't had his heart set on Ravenclaw and the opportunities it brought. Inheriting the Pepper family's interest in inventing and exploring, he has the temperament to manage a business and follow a craft. He would be a natural apprentice to Francis after Theta, his cousin who is studying time turners. But Tim decided to pursue healing.
As Tim grew up and found his voice, combined with the fact he was unaware of how he influenced others, he could be opinionated. He still can be critical of others who are not as capable or as quick as he might be, and that can hurt feelings. He and his brother get on well but Tim is guilty of more than a few sharp comments to Ambrose about his shortcomings.
Sometimes Tim forgets his friends in pursuit of something he has become obsessed or determined to achieve. In the heat of the moment of pursuing his goal he can trample on others. He feels awful the moment he realises or it is pointed out to him and will go to great lengths to apologise and make up for it.
When something Tim has planned really doesn't go his way, he is guilty of brooding about it for a while longer than is sensible. He may reiterate his downfalls and failures in those down moments and declare himself a failure in an overly dramatic fashion.
Tim has an irrational fear of clowns.
Childhood
Timothy was born to Francis and Claire Pepper. He was Claire's third child, having half-brother Thomas, from a previous relationship which had ended, and Ambrose, Tim's brother before, and two school years ahead.
Life at home was happy. Tim and Ambrose attended local Muggle schools, the family content to fit into a Muggle life as far as possible. Claire, being Muggleborn was very adept at this, and neatly prepared explanations about boarding school for the boys, and how not to speak about magic before their friends. Occasionally they would slip up, but their teachers put it down to an overactive imagination, and if they ever met Francis (which was less often than they did Claire) they put it down to genes.
Francis Pepper creates time turners, a family business that has been passed down through generations from father to son. It requires precision and patience, and Tim was his father's hope to carry this on, even though his cousin Theta took up the craft. The time turners are regulated and controlled by the Ministry.
Claire, Tim's late mother, was until the summer of 2008 a scribe for the Wizengamot, sitting in on lengthy trials. While Ambrose and Tim were too young to attend Hogwarts, she worked as best she could, and occasionally made use of time turners Francis had not yet delivered to make it possible to collect her sons from school when they were very young. The Department turned a blind eye the first half dozen times, which was thankfully all that was needed.
Mother's Accident
Tim was impatient to get to Hogwarts. His half-brother and his brother were already there. In the summer of 2008 just before Tim's first year, his older half-brother left Hogwarts before his exams and came home. An argument between Thomas and his mother ensued, and Tim was witness to Thomas obliviating their mother incorrectly. In his state, he lied to his father and claimed not to be present when it happened.
While the family rallied round, Claire in hospital, Francis falling to pieces, Tim read up all he could before going and quizzed the extended family of Peppers and Hughes, trying to unravel what was fact and what was adult teasing. While shopping for school supplies with his father and his brother, Ambrose decided to try and steal some self correcting ink from Florish and Blotts. He was caught, and in the heat of the moment, Timothy admitted blame, claiming he'd planted the bottle in Ambrose's pocket to get him in trouble.
Ambrose, gobsmacked at his younger brother covering for him, stuttered and later claimed he'd been winding Tim up, so that their father gave them equal punishment for the incident. It was a pretty horrible summer for both, and the brothers realised how much they had to stick together.
Tim always got on well with his late mother, and his relationship with his father became unstable after his mother was obliviated incorrectly.
Hogwarts
Come September 2008, Ambrose and Tim both boarded the Hogwarts Express. Tim's love of research, pursuit of knowledge and his intellect place him well in Ravenclaw. He always wanted to be a Ravenclaw and thought hard of it when the Sorting Hat graced his head. He is very proud to be a claw.
Tim's teachers were very glad to discover that Tim could actually cast spells without causing accidents unlike his older brother. It took a couple of terms to shake off the reputation that preceded him, that he was another Ambrose, and gained a newfound sympathy for his older brother. Tim was quietly glad he was good at magic, he had been very worried that he would be worse than Ambrose and they would send him home, declared a squib.
In his second year (2009-2010), Tim was an onlooker throughout the Tetra-wizard Tournament, as he was too young to take part.
In his third year (2010-2011), Tim found his feet and his friends, and was looking forward to being out of his brother's shadow (even if he knew he would miss him next year) and study some new subjects. Tim was keen to carve himself a proper identity - especially as he was about to gain a half sister, step mother and a set of scary relations, and leave his home since birth in Biggleswade for a big house in Wiltshire. New life, no more brother at school, maybe not even at home. Tim didn't want to consider that...
In his fourth year (2011-2012), Tim found his first girlfriend - Akira Hericho - and began to pursue his career interest in healing with more focus. He spent some time over the summer holidays doing work experience at St Mungo's too. In the summer, Tim was chosen as a Ravenclaw prefect.
At the start of Tim’s fifth year (2012-2013) at Hogwarts he had already set his mind on becoming a Healer. It had been his intention since the botched obliviation of his late mother just before he began to attend Hogwarts. He approached the Deputy Head Healer, Sandy Misslethorpe, who mentored him by owl during the school term and helped Tim secure placements each summer at the hospital before formally beginning healer training after his NEWTs in the summer of 2015.
Tim spent the summers after his forth, fifth and sixth years on work experience placements within the hospital on different floors. He was mentored by Deputy Head Healer Sandy Misslethorpe by owl during Hogwarts term, and studied extra potions under the supervision of Professor Draco Malfoy from fifth year onwards. Tim was also a very active member of the potions and duelling clubs.
Tim remained a prefect in his sixth and seventh years.
Tim split with his first girlfriend, Akira Hericho during the 2012-2013 academic year. His focus on his studies and his prefect duties had become intense and he was not so laid back as he had been when they had got together. He found it hard to balance the younger Ravenclaw’s energy with his responsibilities and initiated the split.
There was a natural and intellectual attraction with fellow fifth year, Ascella Gamp, leading to dating late fifth year into sixth year. However, with the relationship between Ascella’s older brother and Tim’s cousin intensifying, the pair felt it best to split and focus on their studies rather than further complicate a family tree. They remain very close.
In their Seventh Year (2014-2015) at Hogwarts, Tim and Cosima Early dated, but while they were different people who challenged each other intellectually, their relationship wasn’t to last past school as they were both career-driven and on different paths.

Healer Training
After Hogwarts, and during the early days of his healer training, Tim remained at home with his brother Ambrose, his young half-sister Amelia his father Francis and step-mother Gabrielle in Gabrielle’s house in Wiltshire. It had plenty of room and they had already accommodated Ambrose while he trained. It has helped him save money on a trainee salary, though he had now managed to move out to a Muggle house share with his old Ravenclaw housemate Soma Adarshpal in London.
Spell Damage
Tim finished his 2 years of basic healer training the summer of 2017. He did short stints on all floors (as trainees are often invited to, to broaden their knowledge). He is now completing his more specialist training in Spell Damage (Fourth Floor), which is the floor he wishes to specialise in. Tim is very keen to be a memory magic specialist, and has begun training in legilimency.
