Muse
Muse is the common term for a new drug appearing in wizarding London in the summer and fall of 2009. Popular among artists and the socialite crowd, the drug educes realistic visions and can often be 'marketed' based on the visions it provides.
Useage
Muse comes in small vials and is a potion with the appearance of silver water. It is smoked via an enchanted hookah, sometimes in groups. There exist small, portable hookahs, but due to the nature of Muse's effects, it is impossible to use while performing other tasks - the visions it brings "transport" the user to their little world and cause the user to lose all sense of the material world temporarily.
Creation
Muse was first created in Turkey and the base of it has been around for centuries. It was imported to the UK in the early 2010's.
It is created via a great many ingredients and is very difficult to brew and store.
The potion form of Muse is very watery and is silver in color, sometimes with a slight blue tint. Its most secret and problematic ingredients is an actual memory; the visions are actually vivid experiences of a stolen memory.
In the UK, Elliot Fudge is the main producer and distributor of Muse.
Side Effects
Muse has several side effects ranging from mundane to serious problems. Its most common mundane side effects are headaches, disorientation and bruising caused by the user flailing in the vision.
Of course, Muse is highly addictive, which is perhaps its worse side effect when combined with the other two.
Prophecy
Muse has the occasional effect, when taken by Seers or people with powerful inner eyes, of making them lapse into trances during which they experience prophetic visions. No one knows exactly why this occurs yet, though some theories say that the vision the drug was trying to convey may have something to do with it - if the vision corresponds closely with an actual future event, the Seer will sense this in some manner.
Memory Damage
Since the visions are in fact the memories of others, an almost unrealized side effect is that the user will sometimes gain the memories as their own when taken - these memories play in their heads as if they themselves performed the actions.
For example, if a user smokes Muse that has a memory of a murder, the user will then remember murdering the victim themselves. These memories are often "forgotten" or repressed in some manner - usually via the fact the memory is freshest with the fact it was a Muse-vision in mind - but prolonged users face a grim issue: Muse memories can, and do, supplant the user's own memories. Too much Muse and a person can lose their sense of self, their life's memories replaced by a jumble of memories from other unrelated lives...but all of them seeming to be the memory of the user themselves.
