Knox Greyfriar full of idealism, and Hannah Bombay full of indignant wrath find themselves inadvertantly, then deliberately, becoming a safe haven for werewolves who might not be treated to the same hospitality from St. Mungo's that others enjoy.
Knox summons Hannah to his cottage in the middle of the night to help him treat unregistered werewolf Horatio Higgins, who was injuring during and untreated full moon transformation. Knox had met Higgins through the Werewolf Registry.
Auror Cooper Evans showed up at Hannah's flat, apparently poisoned from Wolfsbane Potion. She takes him in the night to the home of Knox Greyfriar for help. It's possible the potion was from a tainted black market brew, or Evans was allergic.
Lexus Dale injured from an attempt at illegal potion-brewing comes unbidden to Knox's house, having heard from Horatio Higgins that Knox is helpful to those in her predicament. He does his best with his out-dated Healing skills and begins to wonder if all of this is worth the risk.
Grace Eddy, Auror-in-Training, accepts an invitation to visit from her old teacher. The topic slyly turns to Knox's (and Hannah's) dangerous side project, which piques Eddy's interest, as she's also interested in Healing.
"Had he been registered and in a safe house this wouldn't have happened," said Gunn.
But reknown werewolf expert and advocate Maya Irene-Strangely retorted, "this isn't about safe houses, this is about the stigma of registration. If this poor wizard felt he couldn't go to Mungo's that's on our shoulders. Living unregistered in this country is deadly, as we can plainly see."Niobe Thursby
Knox seeks the help of idealist young Auror Rowan Tyren, using the previous day's report to take her socio-political temperature. He asks that she use her position to direct any unregistered werewolves his way. She agrees.
Knox calls upon Healer and admirer Flynn Hughes for help in procuring Healing supplies clandestinely (and finds out Hughes has been cooking up his own version of Wolfsbane Potion)
Continuting to accept patients in Knox's home has become more and more risky, so Knox and Hannah have been quietly searching for a venue. Pandora Puddifoot who runs a werewolf support group from Puddifoot's offered up a space to consider.
Hannah Bombay and Figaro Sellaphix go on a date to Calaveras. Before they can order, a commotion breaks out in the kitchen when Cadmus Huxley collapses. He is an unregistered werewolf and refuses to accept Hannah's treatment. But they don't have much choice; Hannah Apparates the three of them to the home of Knox Greyfriar where she treats his injuries.
Stacy Li updates Kurby Bagnold on the information retrieved from the werewolf captured from the Cold Moon attack, Savvina Katopodis. She has little to reveal, other than the name Knox Greyfriar whom she said she got Wolfsbane Potion from. Kurby asks Stacy to redact it from the report.
She didn’t know how she got to the park. Didn’t remember anything leading up to her transformation. Claimed she didn’t know Tawse. Couldn’t remember if she had taken a full run of Wolfsbane beforehand.Stacey Li
Kurby Bagnold questions Savvina Katopodis himself in the enchanted holding cell. Her last recollection was of being in Regents Park with her dog, and that Knox Greyfriar provided her with Wolfsbane Potion. Kurby warns her of the risk in accusing a man like Greyfriar and she picks up on the implication and withdraws the statement. She asks Kurby to find her dog.
"My name is Kurby Bagnold," he informed her quietly. "You were captured and detained durin' the last full moon after you murdered three people and assaulted two others. You'll have access to a lawyer once you're transferred to Level Two and they file criminal charges. First, though, I'd like to find out more about what you do remember."Kurby Bagnold
On the pretense of a routine inspection of the cottage Knox Greyfriar uses for full moons, Kurby Bagnold confronts Knox with a picture of Savvina Katopodis who's identified Knox as the man who provided her with Wolfsbane Potion outside the bounds of the law.
Kurby also warns Knox of Cinead Tawse's attack on the full moon, and the risks ahead.
Knox Greyfriar arranges to meet with his friend's problematic former protege Zoe Antonopoulos to entreat her help getting Wolfsbane Potion to unregistered werewolf Horatio Higgins.
Horatio, Greyfriar knew a little better. Single father of four, celebrating a new job. Horatio was one of a handful of unregistered werewolves who, like, Savvina needed help acquiring safe Wolfsbane Potion. Greyfriar had the connections and resources to make this happen. But once his name had come out of Savvina's mouth, things had become complicated.Knox Greyfriar
