Physical Description:
Sandy is 6ft2 and looks it. Sandy does not mind his height. He has to run around a lot to keep in shape. He has taken up running as a hobby. He has brown hair which he keeps cut short. His eyes are also brown. He has pretty pale skin.

Sandy looks strict until he smiles. Sometimes his smile is not very reassuring. People can think he is putting it on for show. It is because he has narrow eyes. At work he is always paying attention to his patients. He might be looking at some mannerism or tick instead of their face.

He is proud of his uniform. It is always neatly pressed. When he is not at work, Sandy is always dressed smartly. He enjoys treating himself to the tailors. Sandy's voice is very careful and steady. Even though it is steady he does not speak slowly. He has a pretty laugh.

Personality Description:
Sandy is above average in intelligence. He works hard intellectually and enjoys research. He has great attention to detail. His patient notes are kept very well. Several of his long-term patients are written up in his research.

He can be imaginative when it comes to trying new forms of treatment. It is not unusual to see Sandy singing with his long-term patients or acting out a scene. Despite the shortcomings and the tedium of dealing with some of the silly things people come to spell damage to fix, Sandy is always polite. Well, to their faces.

Even if he does try some unusual methods, Sandy is not afraid of being realistic. He will tell family and loved ones the truth if there is no hope. He is not a dreamer. He believes in testing and measuring everything.

As a result Sandy can get caught up in the minor details and forget the big picture. He has forgotten that patients are people. That was when he was new to research. Now he is better about it.

He can get very anxious. Running is helping. Sometimes it robs him of sleep. When he is troubled he will pace and walk a lot. He will lose weight.

History:
Sandy is the only son of Tobias Misslethorpe, the founding and first editor of Witch Weekly. He has half siblings as his mother remarried after divorcing his father.

Sandy grew up in Bury St Edmunds but was back and forth to London a lot. He enjoyed learning about the workings of the magazine his father founded. Tobias wanted Sandy to take it over. He taught Sandy how to edit and to proof read and Sandy worked every summer during Hogwarts at the magazine. But it was not what he really wanted to do.

His interests were in healing. Sandy studied all the necessary subjects to apply. He did so in secret. If he did not get accepted, he would never have to tell his father. After he graduated from Slytherin in 1981, Sandy became a trainee healer. He kept up with the magazine but only to keep his father happy.

Sandy decided he wanted to work in Spell Damage. Lots of people needed help because of the torturing the death eaters did. Sandy was glad his father passed away before the second wizarding war. When he died, he left his 51% share of Witch Weekly to Sandy. The other 49% is owned by people his father trusted and investors.

When Sandy was in his early thirties he married a fellow healer. He was very anxious about getting married. They had a child, but all the time they were together Sandy felt it was wrong. It was not who he was. He felt very guilty. She ended the marriage and he was relieved.

Since then Sandy has been very quiet and careful with his private life. Owning half a gossip magazine he knows how easy it is to be speculated on.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
Sandy is a healer. He works on the Spell Damage wards. He works shifts and looks after patients. He treats all sorts of spell damage. He has some patients who have spell damage injuries to their heads. Every shift Sandy does rounds. He will work with his long term patients regularly. Sometimes he has to deal with in-patients.

Character Occupation: Deputy Head Healer and Co-owner of Witch Weekly Magazine.

Character History 2013 - 2017:

Sandy hoped that his daughter Meredith would be interested in taking a more active role in the running of the magazine when she left Hogwarts. He had made sure she worked there in the summers during school. But he was reminded how he had not wanted to take it on from his father and had applied to be a healer in secret. He is proud of his daughter's career even if it is not what he expected.

Instead Sandy has become a closer ally of Queen G the Editor of the magazine. He used his power and influence to convince some of the other shareholders to sell their stake to her. Now they are the two largest shareholders. The magazine has continued to grow and the wireless station is a hit. Sandy continues to let Gen call the shots. She knows her audience and is very capable. He has the business knowledge and reputation.

At the hospital Sandy is very well established. You could suggest Andy has begun to respect him as the old friend he really is... As she is now the guardian of her granddaughter Sandy is trusted to act on her behalf when needed. As part of the dementor and legilimency research with Head Healer Storm and Head Unspeakable Morgenthau Sandy was awarded an Order of Merlin Third Class. He keeps it framed in his sitting room at Oulton Broad. His legilimency skills are now well developed and he uses them much more in his healing treatments in spell damage.

Summary:

Sandy is still Deputy Head Healer at St Mungo's. He was awarded an Order of Merlin Third Class for the dementor research with Andy and Yavin. He is a skilled legilimens in spell damage. Sandy helped Gen to become the second largest shareholder in Witch Weekly rather than let her leave. His daughter Meredith did not join the magazine team but he is still proud of her career.
