Physical Description: Sandy is 6ft2 and looks it. Sandy does not mind his height. He has to run around a lot to keep in shape. He has taken up running as a hobby. He has brown hair which he keeps cut short. His eyes are also brown. He has pretty pale skin.
Sandy looks strict until he smiles. Sometimes his smile is not very reassuring. People can think he is putting it on for show. It is because he has narrow eyes. At work he is always paying attention to his patients. He might be looking at some mannerism or tick instead of their face.
He is proud of his uniform. It is always neatly pressed. When he is not at work, Sandy is always dressed smartly. He enjoys treating himself to the tailors. Sandy's voice is very careful and steady. Even though it is steady he does not speak slowly. He has a pretty laugh.
Personality Description: Sandy is above average in intelligence. He works hard intellectually and enjoys research. He has great attention to detail. His patient notes are kept very well. Several of his long-term patients are written up in his research.
He can be imaginative when it comes to trying new forms of treatment. It is not unusual to see Sandy singing with his long-term patients or acting out a scene. Despite the shortcomings and the tedium of dealing with some of the silly things people come to spell damage to fix, Sandy is always polite. Well, to their faces.
Even if he does try some unusual methods, Sandy is not afraid of being realistic. He will tell family and loved ones the truth if there is no hope. He is not a dreamer. He believes in testing and measuring everything.
As a result Sandy can get caught up in the minor details and forget the big picture. He has forgotten that patients are people. That was when he was new to research. Now he is better about it.
He can get very anxious. Running is helping. Sometimes it robs him of sleep. When he is troubled he will pace and walk a lot. He will lose weight.
History: Sandy is the only son of Tobias Misslethorpe, the founding and first editor of Witch Weekly. He has half siblings as his mother remarried after divorcing his father.
Sandy grew up in Bury St Edmunds but was back and forth to London a lot. He enjoyed learning about the workings of the magazine his father founded. Tobias wanted Sandy to take it over. He taught Sandy how to edit and to proof read and Sandy worked every summer during Hogwarts at the magazine. But it was not what he really wanted to do.
His interests were in healing. Sandy studied all the necessary subjects to apply. He did so in secret. If he did not get accepted, he would never have to tell his father. After he graduated from Slytherin in 1981, Sandy became a trainee healer. He kept up with the magazine but only to keep his father happy.
Sandy decided he wanted to work in Spell Damage. Lots of people needed help because of the torturing the death eaters did. Sandy was glad his father passed away before the second wizarding war. When he died, he left his 51% share of Witch Weekly to Sandy. The other 49% is owned by people his father trusted and investors.
When Sandy was in his early thirties he married a fellow healer. He was very anxious about getting married. They had a child, but all the time they were together Sandy felt it was wrong. It was not who he was. He felt very guilty. She ended the marriage and he was relieved.
Since then Sandy has been very quiet and careful with his private life. Owning half a gossip magazine he knows how easy it is to be speculated on.
