I'm a bad friend and an ever worse "sibling," eh? I hope your summer's going all right, what being couped up likely in Miss Murray's department all day. I should find time someday to yank you out for lunch and have a few heads turning, trying to figure that one out, hm? .....

I'm writing to you, because well... I.
I'm looking for another job. I realise it's July and that the departments have incoming sixth and seventh years as well as graduated interns working their tails off - I remember my uncle telling me that the Auror Department was particularly nefarious for that - for their respected departments. But if you don't mind to, could we meet up sometime soon and see if there is any possibility for employment, even if it ends up short term?

You really are the best, even if you don't often see it in yourself.

Hello, sir. I hope this owl finds you in good health and beginning to rightly enjoy your summer holiday opposed to grading final term papers. I'm writing to you this day in hopes of possibly asking a favour, sir. I'm currently seeking new employment as my previous job, comfortable as it were, has closed up shop. It's been a while since I've heard, seen, even written and received anything from my dearest Thet. I hope your summer is going well, especially if you're still courting Chris Dant still. I really ought to come to visit you wherever you are now. After all, Kensington is equally lovely and I'm certain Marmy would love to see you too! I thought I would send an owl your way as I'm needing a bit of a fix. No way to break it gently, but I'm unfortunately without a job once more and thought if you knew anything was available. I admit I'm a bit stunned, really, as I figured this job would last longer than it did. That said, it happens, right?

My thanks for your letter dated 3rd July, regarding employment opportunities. You are most welcome to address requests for reference care of the school for their appropriate validity, and I am glad you feel I am a suitable referee a year after your graduation.

You may be able to submit a late application to graduate opportunities with the Ministry, Gringotts and the like if you are quick. Otherwise, I do not know of any particular vacancies calling for a young face of late. Nothing against your bright mind and skills, only that of late I have not been asked to recommend any young person for a post.

Dearest Adelia,

If you call yourself bad for not writing, I must be verging on criminal. Ignan wrote back before I did. Tragic. Lovely to hear from you, though always all the better to see you in person.

Summer's always somewhere, if I don't like the one I've got. It's only a floo or portkey away. Yes, I've naturally been at the office plenty, but at least with the Tournament over we're back to the usual humdrum. I can only escape the drudgery of reinterpreting the obscure Trading Standards regulations for so long.

Lunch sounds glorious. Name a day, I'll reschedule whichever ambassador wants to bend my ear. You're always welcome to pay a visit. You make decent coffee.

Missed you at the Pepper party last month, Theta said you weren't able to take up the invitation which was a shame. Still, there's always someone to talk to when you're bored. Just a pity it wasn't you.

It is a shame about the Masque gig not working out long term for you. I don't blame you for looking for something a little more secure. Though if security's what you're looking for, steer clear of the aurors, the success rate of the trainees may be up on years past, but I've seen plenty fall at the wayside. Still, better than Mysteries. They go in and never come out.

I'm sure there would be several departments here interested in snapping you up. Bring a few copies of the old CV when we meet, you never know where they'll end up…

Oh my goodness it's been too long again. I can't believe how late my reply is to you - Dad lost your letter in Mum's pile of magazines (she's taken up reading Good Housekeeping) and came across it thinking it was one of those cash prize competition envelopes that magazines come stuffed with. I'm so embarrassed. My new address is up top.

I say too long but I did send you owl of our annual summer party of course. Apart from Dad being the star of the show with his flying cars, it was much the same as ever, only everyone young was a couple of inches taller, and everyone on the other end began to nod off with the food and alcohol.

Me and Chris, yes - he sends his love, still there. I hope we carry on, but you know how 'experienced' I am at these things (not!) He makes me very happy and it's lovely to have a pal to go and do things with in any case. We've seen so many films in the muggle cinema the past few months, it's been an education.

What about you though? You keep so quiet on the man front these days, though I hardly blame you what with all that's happened. Have you heard from the Amhersts of late? It's been a while since I encountered any of them to speak. It was another of those careers fair days the other month at Hogwarts, and I went along to help. Suddenly reminded by our last one there - it seems only yesterday I was teasing you about dishy linguists - speaking of which, he was asking about you. I should have written back then.

You are most welcome to visit, just let me know a good weekend. I wouldn't say my new place is anything to write home about at Dorothea's. Unfortunately needs must and without anyone to share with these days my apprentice wage doesn't stretch to the place Ruby and I were stopping at. Besides, some weird things started to happen there, to make me wonder if it was haunted by something like Peeves. I woke up one morning and the whole flat was covered in milk bottles. Like, every six inches or so there was a milk bottle. I won't tell you how long it took me to get them all crated up and on a milk float again. I have no idea how it all happened.

I am so sorry to hear that your lovely job has wrapped up. I'm sure there will be something for you soon. What about level five, or did your time there put you off? It would be so lovely to have you working in the building - we could do lunch and things. Maintenance are always hiring if you're in a real pinch, sorry I don't mean that to insult, only if you are in dire need of something immediate while you search that's not too taxing. In our Department we don't tend to hear of the openings, but Uncle Francis says that they accept applications all year round, and jobs create themselves for the right people. Worth a punt!

I thank you most sincerely for your permission as I have mulled over my possibilities and began working on narrowing my choices down. I wish you still yet an excellent summer holiday as I'm certain you may be needing a brain relief from the exhausting school year. Alfie said the tournament was rather exciting and that he's made a few friends to write with from Salem. I shan't keep you any longer in me babbling taking up your time.

You are practically criminal with your wardrobe and hair length sometimes, but I still find a way to love care about you at the end of the day, don't I? I make decent coffee? When did I-- You only had it once, and believe you me, chocolate makes the coffee better. Much, much, much better. That all said, I'm available for Friday, sure thing! As for where we'll go, I donno as I'm going to leave that executive decision making just for you. Aren't I sweet?

As for Theta's shindig, I hate that I missed it but business matters needed attending. Speaking of which. . . I don't recall telling you about Masque, but it seems you've a better eye than just a tongue for linguistics, eh? Wow. That sounded creepy, even for me. SO. I'm going to go back to finishing up my curry for the night. Don't you work yourself to death or I'll have Marm lick you without ceasing next time.

Adelia?! Since when did you ever call me so formally, lady? Are you getting old on me?
Like, "get married, have two kids, be a stay at home mum" old? Cos, if you are getting that old on me, I'm going to have to find a brand new Ravenclaw friend to make a friendship from.

It's good to hear from you though. Really good, in fact.  Sorry about your parents mistaking me for that and I'm even sorrier that I lied to Johann why I couldn't come to your shindig I wasn't able to come to the gathering. Admittedly, out of my own embarrassment, I misplaced the letter in my bedroom and found it right as I was beginning to write to you about the work ordeals. Ahmagawd. You're getting educated in cinema!? We three totally should go and see either that one with the little yellow -- what are they called again? Oh yeah. Minions[1] or the one with magic and that kinda cute boy who someone is going to be an apprentice to a wizard[2]. Could be fun, you know? Make a Saturday or Sunday of it, whenever you and Chris aren't being too mysterious in the Department of Mysteries. -dun dun dunnnn-

Sorry, couldn't resist. After all, the title alone for the department sounds like MI6 - Muggle Intelligence Group, if you were wondering as I'm sure Chris has yet to really educate you on the matters of James Bond. Anyhow! I'm working on the list and narrowing it down to where I think it could work out to my ability. If all else fails, I could try the Maintenance Department, but that sounds kinda ew to be honest.

Well, tea kettle's screaming and Marmy's barking at it again, so it's time to jet again. Don't be a stranger yourself. I love you after all, sister from another wizard mister.  Wow. That sounds weird. Really. Weird.
