Long-suffering wife of William Shufflebottom, resilient mother, very resourceful on a limited income.
She and Willy were childhood sweethearts from school and have two children, Jack and Susie who are not yet of Hogwarts age. She has a talent for herbology, but overall the couple are not the brightest. Gladys-May did leave Hogwarts with a few respectable OWLs, and work for a herbologists for a number of years until she had children.
Their home in Godric's Hollow is forever in need of repair due to their low income, but the family are haphazard and generally happy. They both adore their children, but are not in great touch with their wider families. It is likely the Carters do not approve highly of her marriage.
In December 2010, Willy was released from his fourth stint in Azkaban, this time it was for two years for trading acromantula eggs. Gladys-May is furious with him. The family are completely skint and he's missed 2 Christmases with the children. He promised he'd stay out of trouble like that once they had children. But she forgot Willy's a liar.
He went back into Azkaban again for helping Lawrence Musgrave, leaving her to once more to raise the children and run the farm until August 2017.
