Orion Gamp is a respected but adventurous and oddball travel guide writer for Devia Orbis (a wizarding travel publisher a bit like Lonely Planet). He is the father of Ariadne Gamp and the first son of Mortimer Gamp and lives on a boat so he can travel around the world and write about whatever he is commissioned for or whatever he feels he can make income from while having fun. He has untameable, infectious energy, and wouldn't like you to pigeon-hole him as a loveable rogue, but maybe.

During early 2010 he was detained in Venezuela after running into bother with his visa. His father, Mortimer Gamp implored the assistance of Gabrielle Murray from the Department of International Magical Co-operation to help him return to Britain to spend some time with Ariadne Gamp during her summer holiday.

He was once married to Nadine Pinn, after getting together at school, but although they still talk, they are most definitely better off divorced.
