Two-Story Books is an independent bookshop owned and operated by the Norling family. It is located in on the eastern outskirts of Adderley Village, Shropshire, on the edge of what is locally called the Nethermost Woods. Older residents will still refer to it as the Nethermost Mill.
Uniquely, the family-run establishment is half-muggle, half-wizard. Ariadne Norling runs the muggle shop, which takes up the first and half of the second floor. Here, the shelves form a tight maze[1], slightly dim and crowded but nonetheless cozy.
The wizarding shop -- which is more of a mail-order business, with some special commissions and purchases made in-person by locals in the know -- is run by Ariadne's husband Orville out of the basement. Local and visiting wizards are welcome to enter during normal business hours via a secret trap door on the first floor. The door can be opened by using one's wand to form the shape of a witch's knot (∞) twice in the air before pulling up.
At Absit Omen
- Two-Story Books -- specifically the flat on the second floor -- is the residence of Alvis Norling and his immediately family.
- Casey O'Doherty visited the shop during the Hogwarts spring break of 2010.[2] During his stay, he entered the wizarding shop to access the Norling family commission records and was confronted by Alvis.[3] This led to a series of private revelations between the two friends.[4]
