Adderley Village
Adderley is a small village in the English county of Shropshire in the West Midlands region of England, home to approximately 300 people, 90 of whom are wizards. According to Domesday Book, the village predates the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy by about 650 years, which means that calling it a purely muggle village is a bit of a misnomer. Two-thirds of the population may be Muggle, but there are still many buildings throughout the town which hold traces of magic.
Most of Adderley's wizarding population is made up of retired Ministry workers looking for some peace and quiet in their old age. The closest town and shopping center is Market Drayton, population 10,000, which lies seven kilometers to the south.
In addition to its well-known rectory and adjacent primary schools, Adderley is home to Two-Story Books, a unique bookshop offering both wizarding and muggle texts owned by the blended Norling family -- Orville Norling, a wizard; his wife Ariadne, a muggle; and their son Alvis who works there part-time during school breaks. Their extended family, including both muggle and wizarding grandparents and a great-aunt, live nearby.
