Janus Galloglass

From Absit Omen Lexicon

Janus Galloglass is the owner of a shop by the same name Janus Galloglass (Shop) in Diagon Alley.

He was born in a known upper-middle-class pureblood family on the 22nd May, 1966, under the sign of Gemini. From a young age, Janus (named after his father, and his father before that), exhibited the cunning and ambition characteristics of Slytherin house. He also inherited the gift of sight, perceiving glimpses of the future in mirrors. Raised in an environment where tradition and lineage were highly valued, Janus was groomed to uphold the family name with pride and distinction.

As a student at Hogwarts, Janus shone in subjects that showcased his resourcefulness and strategic thinking. Sorted, naturally, into Slytherin, he made a name for himself amongst his peers for his knack of manipulation and charm, able to sell something to anyone. He exhibited signs of his seer heritage, with prophetic dreams, and studied Divination, Charms and History of Magic in great detail. It was during his years at Hogwarts that Janus forged a lasting friendship with Alfred Bitterwood, a fellow student in Ravenclaw house.

After graduating from Hogwarts, the future was clear for Janus. He was to draw upon his family's wealth and influence and follow the path with the family business. He began to take increased control over the Janus Galloglass shop on North Side, Diagon Alley. Already established as a specialist in magical mirrors of all kinds, including scrying mirrors, enchanted mirrors and even the odd haunted one, Janus curated a collection that catered to the diverse needs and desires of the magical community.

One of the highlights of Janus's shop was the inclusion of a psychomanteum, a chamber specifically designed for introspection and divination. Patrons from far and wide would visit to explore the depths of their subconscious and seek guidance from the mystical realms beyond.

Janus was affected by forseeing the death Alfred's father in a werewolf attack in the early 2000s. He threw his support behind Alfred's involvement in the Eradicate Lycanthropy Foundation, both in person, financially and with his gift of sight.

Properties

As well as owning 41 North Side, Janus also owns adjacent units including the one occupied by Praedico Predico and Twinkle's Telescopes.
