Gamp Wolfsbane
Perfected and released for distribution in 2017 in a project headed up by Hyperion Gamp was the next generation of Wolfsbane Potion known popularly as Gamp Wolfsbane.
Daily Prophet: 2 Feb 2017 - Wolfsbane: Take Two
Some time in 2017 it became the sole version of the potion distributed by the Ministry of Magic. The recipe has been kept under lock and key to try and avoid a black market, which plagued the original potion. Mysteries plans to continue improving on it.
The new formulation has improved potency and only needs a three day lead of the full moon instead of seven. It still tastes terrible.
Counterfeits
As soon as the new version was released, brewers began making counterfeits. Some in an attempt to make the better potion available to unregistered werewolves, others to make a galleon. Counterfeit are considered dangerous because it's impossible to know if it's safe and effective.
Public response
- The Werewolf Alliance reacted positively and hoped that it would be made available to unregistered werewolves, too.
- ELF were critical. They claim to prioritize a cure instead of a treatment, and that this has been a waste of Ministry resources.
