In the early evening, an owl arrives at Figaro's flat.

To: Fig
From: Fauna

(please open, not a trap)

Happy late birthday!

Below the note youre going to see a terrible plaid mishapen thing that is actually part of your gift. Don't throw it out! I mean, unless you want to. I mean, at least look at it first. It's a...

....

........

Jacket! A yellow plaid jacket that is competing with your red plaid trousers for worst clothing in the world. Isn't it great? It's sorta Hufflepuff.

But there you go. I got you a book. It's in the jacket. Don't throw that out, either. I mean, you can. I mean, I'd understand? I got it from, haha, Whizzhard books. It's about unicorns[1]! So funny! (Is this funny? I'm starting to doubt).

Right. Happy Birthday! I'm sorry I missed your party. Do you want to catch up    Would like to catch up with

Um

How are you? Do you want to meet not at a bookstore?

The laden owl found Figaro Sellaphix on the fifth floor balcony of the converted chemical factory were he lived. Behind him, his flat was unusually tidy - his dad had surprised him, and the least of that overwhelming experience was that he'd cleaned up. It was cold, growing dark, and Rafe had left. Figaro was happy to bundle in a blanket, listen to music, and think of nothing.

He'd mostly forgotten his birthday, so his first thought on seeing the sender was a bit of regret for when he'd last seen Fauna. The letter attached seemed like an earnest attempt to forget everything that had happened. Even the final line was more an intercession than an acknowledgement. Figaro was willing to internalize this premise. How could they reconcile that disaster? Might be easier to just leave it.

The jacket was perfectly atrocious and even he has the good sense to avoid the suggested combination. But on it's own, he liked it. And the book...

Faun,

Leave it to you to give Figaro Sellaphix a BOOK. Not sure if compliment or irony. :P Anyway, thanks. Good resource for next time I see a unicorn. And I can be like, I know facts about your history. And he'll be like, mad for it mate, you are the best thank you for knowing my history. And I'll be like, yea mate learnt it from a book. And he'll be like, good for you.

Have you ever pet a wolf? <- ignore

Fig,

 :)

 :D

I mean, when you meet a unicorn, I was thinking you could use the book as a shield, because remember that day in CoMC? (or any day in any class with OMorain). The book has some heft to it (why do I talk like an Auror all the time now).   <-- Ignore!

As I was saying, if a unicorn runs at you and for some Merlin forsaken reason you do not have a wand or I confiscated (IGNORE), hold the book in front of you and you'll only lose the first few chapters on um.... I did not actually read it. You'll have to let me know if it's too bloody or too sacred or something. You'll have to help me make better jokes, ok? This is what happens when we don't talk for a while.

Ok so! Spellpunk is having something called a Tetrawizard Trivia night which is kind of scary to me, but we could find a table away from the mad ones?
