Yakob 'the bear' Ismail grew up across the pond in Maryland, D.C. He is the youngest son of a large family. He has been living in the UK since he was fifteen. He is one of two owners of Burke & Bear and a regular boxer himself.
His nickname as "the bear" stems from his height. Both he and his sister are about six foot eight, with a touch of giant ancestry on their father's side. He's a pretty friendly guy, easy to get along with but firm about boundaries. He likes good music and makes a mean grilled sandwich.
History
When Yakob's mother divorced her husband, she decided to accept a Potioneer job in London - Yakob and his sister Bilqis followed, though at the time they were only fourteen and fifteen, and returned to the US for schooling during term time.
Unlike his clever sister, Yakob never got the hang of studies. Nor did he acquire a sense of ambition. He graduated from Salems and came to live in London, where he worked mostly menial jobs at various restaurants.
At twenty one, out of both desperation and boredom, he started taking an interest in fitness. Yakob met muggle Harry Flowers whilst training at a muggle boxing gym in Straford. The older man took an interest in mentoring Yakob - both as a trainer as well as a kind of friend. Flowers met Bilqis through him. It came as a real surprise to Yakob when the two hit it off despite the age gap.
In 2004, Bilqis married Harry. They pooled their resources with the then 26 year old Yakob, and opened up the Burke & Bear with a loan from the Ismails' mother. The trio live in two-storey flat not far from Camden Town Hookers.
