Thorvald Mulciber is a proud Pureblood Durmstrang Alumni who has since moved on to growing a monopoly of shops worldwide specializing in magical jewelry known as Whims and Wonders. However, he embodies a dual existence as a loan shark to the underworld, primarily gambling. He was running a small empire of "bookies" that collected debts from those unlucky souls who sought to borrow from the Mulciber's in exchange for favor, galleons, or games. To the outside world, he is a likable, friendly shop owner who dotes on his brother, sister-in-law, and soon-to-be-born nephew. However, deep down, Thorvald is ambitious and righteous, needing to grow his legacy and power.
Appearance
Thorvald stands tall at 6'2" and overall tends to have a commanding presence with a lean, athletic build. Styled with a tousled look, he has brown, fine hair, generally cut short and well-maintained. His eyes are wide and vibrant blue, piercing and intense under his thick brow. His nose is centered on his face, sharp and narrow sitting above slim and bowed lips. He casually allows his facial hair to grow most days, though he often keeps it short. Overall, he has a rugged yet stylish appearance, indicative of his upbringing.

Thorvald Mulciber hailed from a lineage steeped deep in magic, born to Sigurd and Pandora Mulciber alongside his older brother Ragnar. Enrolled in the most prestigious magic schools of Durmstrang Institute, Thorvald excelled in his studies with pride as a wizard. He thrived in the rigorous environment of Durmstrang, honing his magical skill and earning a reputation for his formidable mind and unwavering determination. Throughout his years of study, it became clear that Thorvald was steadfast in his commitment to uphold the honor and tradition of the Mulciber name, guided solely by the principles instilled in him by his parents and the unspoken legacy of generations of the past.
It was that unspoken legacy that needed to thrive that began Thorvald's descent into the underworld. Fueled by a desire for power, he found himself drawn to the clandestine gambling world, recognizing it for the potential of profit and influence. Leveraging his intellect and resources as a pureblood, Thorvald swiftly established himself as a player in the gambling scene. Soon, he was known to provide loans for services and backend deals for those in need. With the combination of charm, coercion, and magical persuasion, should the need arise, he used those trapped by the allure of gambling into indebtedness. He created a network of debtors accountable to the business.
Thorvald implemented a staged legitimate business as a magical jewelry store owner to camouflage his dealings as the company grew. Using ruthless tactics to maintain control and swiftly dealing with those who crossed him, his reputation as a master manipulator and enforcer spread through the darker magical underworld. However, it was not without its challenges. Rival factions wanting a piece of his business long sought control, and law enforcement was always on his doorstep with suspicion. Nevertheless, in the end, he could operate not unlike a bookie and still emerge as a force to be reckoned with.
Recently, he received a concerning letter from his brother, Ragnar, about their struggles to get the business off the ground in England. So, Thorvald took the chance to move the storefront and their headquarters, so to speak, from Norway to Diagon Alley in hopes of spreading the business and building up their little legacy for the birth of his first nephew. Thorvald felt it was time to give the company a push for the sake of legacy.
At face value, Thorvald obtains, designs, and creates magical jewelry and sells it within his shop. This requires him to oversee at least three employees as a shop owner. Underneath, however, he maintains the contracts of "bookies" and their list of debts owed.
Thorvald has a talent for knowing things, whether that be a particular subject or about people; it matters not. While in school and after, he cultivated connections to build a network of gamblers and debtors and has been running that business outside of England for the better part of a decade.
