Nyxie is a quiet yet elegant girl, who loves learning and reading of all sorts, and aspires to be the top of her class. A young girl trying to find out where she stands in the wizarding world, and trying to fit in.
Physical Description
Nyx's eyes are the most noticeable feature about her. One could say her eyes are a variety of colours, the primary one being a beautiful shade of river blue. There are highlights of turquoise and azure blue, and in low lights, her eyes seem like a daring shade of electric blue. In bright light, her eyes are a lapis colour. Her eyes are gentle and kind, warm and compassionate, and they dance whenever she is happy. They are also bright and expressive, and you can see, most, if not all of her emotions fluttering about in her eye. She is trying to mask her face into an emotionless mask. Her eyes are large and just shy of circular, and she has very long black eyelashes. Her eyes are framed with slender eyebrows, following the curve of her eyes, and are a few shades darker than her hair.
Nyx’s hair is long and cascades down until her waist in waves, but the tips of her hair are curlier. Her hair is thick and lustrous, soft and silky. Her hair is a bright shade of golden brown, like cookies which just came out of the oven. When her hair is wet, it becomes very frizzy and almost impossible to tame. Her hair has natural ombre highlights, and if you squint hard enough, you can see hints of caramel. She usually ties up her hair in a messy bun, with strands of hair peeking out, or a fishtail braid, hanging over her shoulder. She also likes to let her hair down, letting it run free. Nyx's has no bangs, so hair will not get into her eyes. Nyx is about 137cm, quite petite for her age.
Nyx has grown out of most of her baby fats. She is now having a more slender build, though she has muscles, through exercising every week. People see her petite nature and will think that she is weak, even if she is stronger than most people originally thought. Her face is oval-shaped, with high cheekbones. The planes of her cheeks and chin are becoming more obvious, although her face is still chubby. She has dimples on both sides of her face, and when she smiles, the dimples make her look sweet and innocent. Nyx has a fair, creamy complexion, hinted with a bit of pink, especially at her cheeks. Nyx has rosebud lips, adding more to her childish innocence. When she is not smiling, the top of her lips has a pronounce cupid's bow. Nyx tends to smile every day, be it a good or bad day for her. She had dropped most of her teeth already, so her teeth are now straightening out. She takes good care of them, so her teeth are a pearly white colour. Nyx has a slender concave nose.
Nyx takes large strides when she is nervous or anxious, but daily, she just walks briskly or slowly, depending on the situation. She has a perfect posture, not too stiff, yet she does not slouch either. But when she is very tired, she will slouch. Joy speaks very fast when she is excited.
Whenever Nyx shop for clothes, the first thing she will look for in clothes are how comfortable they are. The next is how practical they are. Nyx hates wearing clothes that serve no purpose at all, other than covering herself up. Finally, she looks for how nice it is. So basically, Nyx steers away from fussy fashion and loves wearing clothes with lots of layers. She leaves her hair tousled and natural and her clothes are softly tailored, loose with a bit of structure. She likes buying easy garments with little to no accessories at all, and value comfort and practically. Her closet includes basic casual tees and tank tops, casual jeans like boyfriend jeans, sweatshirts, knit button down vests, cargo pants, simple stud earrings, jewellery made of natural materials, canvas sneakers and other sporty looking shoes, tunic tops, safari jackets.
Personality Description
Nyxie is a naturally shy person. She mostly keeps to herself, an introvert through and through. Her mouth rarely opens for those she doesn't know, although she enjoys speaking with her friends. She is also quite enthusiastic when speaking to her professors, who hopefully enjoy her company due to her intellectual nature. When she is coerced into group activities with her friends, Nyxie does her best to be inclusive, making sure everyone is involved. She does this at the exclusion of herself sometimes, although she doesn't mind. She'd much rather see everyone else having fun than participate herself. In fact, when she's not being anti-social, Nyxie can actually be a rather warm, open person. She's more than willing to offer a shoulder and an ear to anyone who needs them and is always there for her friends. She's loyal to a fault, something that she prides herself in, and is quite protective of her friends. She may not stand up for them vocally, but she finds other ways to watch out for others. True, these methods tend to be sneaky and sometimes a bit more underhanded than she'd like, but anything to help out a friend. In fact, Nyxie has a fair sense of justice and vengeance when it comes to others who were wronged. She doesn't care about herself as much, viewing herself as outside of things. This can cause her some trouble, since she has a morbid curiosity, and is willing to follow things through no matter the outcome. She almost always ends up looking back at things she's done with regret, though, thanks to her own morality and her need for some sort of structured system of rules or laws. It's a never-ending conflict of experimentation versus staying in line that she deals with on a regular basis.
Although Nyxie is fairly quiet, she can have quite the temper on her. While setting her off not the easiest things in the world to do, it's also not terribly hard. When she is angry, Nyxie finds herself not raising her voice, but instead focusing on something with great intensity and not letting it go. The rest of the time, though, she's fairly easy going. She's someone that can keep secrets, a trustworthy individual. In response, she generally trusts others and is deeply hurt when they betray that trust. She almost borders naïve in that respect, although she likes to think she's a better judge of character than that. She likes to think a lot of things, really, and she doesn't budge from her thoughts. Indeed, Nyxie is stubborn at times. She can be a hard head, unwilling to change her opinions on anything. She's also fairly absent-minded, placing things down only to forget where she put them mere moments later. The three things that Nyxie never forgets about are Quidditch and her studies and her family, the two important things in her life that aren't her friends.
History
Pre-birth Nyxie's story started all the way back when her parents were born. Her mother was born to Miranda and Jackson River, and even though they were not exactly rich, they were a pair of loving parents and named their child, with her soft golden brown hair and bright chocolate eyes Ariana River. Her father was born in a rich family, to Melissa and Leo Fawley. His parents were cold and harsh, never really spending time with their child, whom they named William Fawley, a boy with messy raven hair and bright blue eyes. When William grew up, it was mostly alone in his home, and he barely interacts with anyone. Ariana, in contrast, grew up in a loving family, and she attended a local school.
Sadly, Leo's company bankrupted when William was 8, and they moved to the town Ariana was staying in. He also attended the local school, and there he met Ariana, and both of them hit it off immediately. His parents detested Ariana, complaining that she was from a poor family, and when their baby boy said that he would choose Ariana over them any day, they realise how cold they have been to William. They began to spend more time with him, and their bond grew closer. So it was a huge blow for him when his parents died in a car crash.
Ariana's family took him in, giving him a loving family, even though his guardian was his uncle, Jamie. He grew closer with Ariana, and they went to school and college together, and the thing that brought them really close was when Ariana's parents passed away, happy, of course. Both of them mourned together, and William had to comfort Ariana. A few years later, William asked Ariana to be his girlfriend. Ariana agreed as she had waited for that day for ages, and for a few months after they date, William asked Ariana to marry him. Ariana cried, and agreed. They had a small, quaint wedding and things went just according to plan. Everything did for a few years, and it was quiet, serene, peaceful. Just the two of them in their house that was too big.. and that gave Ariana an idea.
Childhood Nyxie was born to the River-Fawley couple on 28 September, at 12.01 a.m. They thought that she was absolutely perfect, with her mother's hair and her father's eyes. She was magical, they had said to each other. Little did they know that she was more magical than they first thought. Their daughter was a witch, and it was only on her 11th birthday that they would realise. Nyxie grew up with a pair of loving parents, giving as much love as they could. Of course, like any family, they have arguments too.
Nyxie was brought up just like both of her parents wanted. She was a girl who would play with boys and roll in the dirt, yet also a dainty flower. She made friends with everyone in her town and played with them. She tumbled in the dirt with the boys and picked flowers with the girls. Sadly, they moved away when she was 6, and Nyxie had never seen her friends again.
They moved to London, and her parents sent her to a muggle school. She went to her muggle school and was bullied by her peers. She grew really sensitive and quiet, withdrawing and hoping to go back to her old town. So she focused her time on reading, drawing, painting, photography and exploring. Ever since she can remember Nyxie has always loved the outdoors, she can't imagine anything better than a sunny day outside. Her father has always painted so her mother often brought her outside to watch her father paint. She was fascinated by the bright colours on the canvas, but sometimes, her focus had always been on the plants and animals outside. Her mother had ridden horses when she was young with her father and thought that naturally, a girl who loved nature like little Nyxie might take an interest in horses. Nyxie took to the sport like a duck to water and was delighted to discover that her new neighbourhood has a riding stable. Her parents bought her a new horse after she had showed great interest. Bella had been bought for Nyxie as a birthday present a few years before her acceptance into Hogwarts. However, Nyxie’s father was hardly ever around due to his work but despite this Nyxie has a good relationship with her father and is a daddy’s girl. Nyxie's father is a professional artist and travels around the world to get inspiration from the different sights and sounds. He received a large inheritance from his parents, but he saved it in the bank, in case of rainy days. Her mother is a home tuition teacher and has a few students coming in on Monday and Friday. They mostly only work during the school term.
It was a huge shock for Nyxie when she was told that she was a witch and that she had a place in Hogwarts, even if there had been obvious signs of the girl's "little talent" as her parents had nicknamed it like things breaking when she was upset, etc. Her parents had mainly kept it quiet especially when she started to attend the local school and Nyxie was taught not to tell anyone about her talent because they would not understand it like her parents did. When she was told that she was a witch, Nyxie believed it and convinced her parents to let her go to Hogwarts. She bought all her supplies including a little owl so she could write to her parents and made sure that Bella could stay without her, and finally, in September it was time to go to her new school.
Nyxie loves books and reading, and she is also creative. She enjoys her studies very much and is a studious person. She knows how to adapt to changes easily, and is adept at magic, making her an ideal Ravenclaw.
