Noah Jackson

From Absit Omen Lexicon

Noah is a charismatic individual with a talent for communication. He can be described as a person with a complex personality. He can be either friendly and approachable or intimidating and unpleasant, though it really depends on the situation or his mood. He has buckets of confidence and could probably sell water to a fish if he tried hard enough, which makes him excellent at his job.

Despite the numerous amount of people he pissed off in his youth, Noah is a talker and a schmoozer, making him very effective at talking his way into our out of things, though this side of his personality is mostly only ever seen in a professional capacity. In day to day life, he is not nearly as engaging or convincing, almost as if a flip has been switched. Only those who know him well enough have ever seen these dual characteristics of his and those who do not know him in a professional capacity fail to understand how he could be so skilled at making connections.

Appearance

Noah stands at around 5'10 and has a medium build. He has dark hair, light brown eyes and an olive complexion thanks to his mother's Mediterranean roots. He's probably let himself go a bit in the few years since he was at Hogwarts, a culmination of stress and poor time-management. His hair, while historically styled to perfection is more lengthy and haphazard these days and he has a five o'clock shadow at all times.

He does his best to keep up with whatever the current fashion trends are but a lot of the time, he still reaches for a plain black t and slacks. Noah looks tired a lot of the time these days. On special occasions, the youthful Noah makes an appearance but he has been working on little sleep for months on end, constantly traveling, schmoozing and working all hours of the day and night, trying and honestly failing to get his friend's band on the map.

Personality

In his youth, Noah, Jackson or in some cases Jackie, didn't really care about the consequences of his actions and would do whatever he wanted and said anything that came to mind with little filter. He wasn't exactly arrogant per se.. he just didn't think things through. Even after getting his ass kicked on multiple occasions, he continued to do so. Nowadays, he has grown up and stopped acting like such a pratt, mostly due to the fact that he needs to maintain a professional persona. He is well aware that connections can be made in places you'd least expect. He still has little filter at times, but is perceived more so as blunt, as opposed to arrogant or stupid.

He tends to be, or rather 'seems' a little nicer when females are involved, but it depends on his mood or if he wants to put up a good front. But if you need backup or a wingman, Noah is your man. Where his friends are concerned, he is more of a follower than a leader. Noah will likely go along with any plan no matter how stupid, dangerous or reckless that plan might actually be.... habits do very much tend to die hard with Noah. He acts like the cat who died from curiosity on occasion.. what's the worst that could happen?

Overall, little really gets to Noah and he can take just about as much as he can dish out. In his early teen years, he went after girls with persistence and little deterrence. Unless of course you counted the boyfriend's fist... Though he didn't often knowingly go after taken women, sometimes his flirting just got a little carried away. He's not such an idiot nowadays, but he did piss off a lot of people in his youth.

History

Noah, grew up on the road with his father who just happens to be the tour manager of a popular wizarding rock band. So, in essence, be grew up with the band and he and Gideon, one of the band member's sons were like brothers. If they hadn't been born to different mothers they could almost have been twins as they were born merely one day apart. Jackson's mother left him and his father when he was around two, not being able to deal with the droves of groupies that surrounded the band and crew and having serious trust issues as she had been one of those groupies at one point in her life. She knew what the life was like and couldn't handle or accept it. So, he and Gideon shared the same nanny as they grew up together as it was only a year or two later when Gideon's mother left him and his father as well. Although his mother did sort of remain in contact with him, it was only by owl and only on birthdays and holidays and he grew up hating her, even if his father never spoke ill of the woman. What kind of a woman abandons her child, even if she hates the father? Why not take him when she left?

Though Greyson Jackson (Noah's father) and Gideon Sr. were also best friends, they did disagree about one thing.. schooling. They both wanted their son's to go to their alma mater's... despite almost constant and long-winded protests from both of their son's, but to no avail. So.. when it came time for both boys to go off to school, Gideon went to Beauxbatons and Noah to Hogwarts.

Where Gideon gained instant popularity from being the son of a famous wrocker, Noah was just another nameless face in the crowd. Clinging to what little popularity he could get by being best friends with the son of a wrocker wasn't really an option when said best friend wasn't around.

He'd always thought of himself as a sort of side-kick as lame as that might sound, but after a few weeks without his 'brother' he began to step out of the shadow that was once Gideon and started to get over his own self-pity, becoming the annoyingly happy and goofball of a person he is to this day. As much as it pained him to admit it, he eventually came to realize that his father had done him a huge favor, separating them for their schooling, even if that had not been his father's intention.

Even though detentions were a fairly regular event for Noah, he is a fairly talented wizard and had no ... major.. problems with classes, aside from you know... never turning in any of his homework. He doesn't have an eidetic memory, but he has fairly great recall, doing decently well on his exams without trying much, though he was a bit dodgy with some of the theory since he failed to study in any kind of detail... or at all. Honestly, it was probably a small miracle he got through his exams at all aside from the wand work sections.

After graduation, Noah followed in his father's footsteps by taking up the Manger position to his best friend's band, just like their fathers had done before them, though unlike his father, Noah has had a rough go of it from the start. To begin with, all of the members of the band, aside from Gideon (his best friend) could barely put a few notes together when they first came together. You can tell they are learning as they go and don't have any kind of training or musical ear, they have simply memorized the required music for the lineup. Add on to that, Gideon, trying to take on the rockstar persona has fallen deeply into drug addiction, the likes of which Noah has never seen before. He has been in and out of rehab several times, but does not seem to want any sort of help and is hungover or passed out a lot of the time, losing them gigs and burning the bridges Noah has so carefully worked to construct.

Career

Noah struggles daily to continue to promote a band which shouldn't even be regaled as a decent garage band. The line 'Son of a famous wrocker' only gets you so far so many times.

Noah meets with producers, radio executives and lines up gigs for the band on top of doing nearly all of their promotions and managing their books.

Unbeknownst to Gideon, Noah is currently moonlighting as an assistant to his father in order to pay his own bills. Wouldn't you know it, Greyson signs nearly all of Gideon Sr's fanmail autographs, and Noah, of course, being able to forge his father's signature (What self respecting kid never learned to do that?) has taken over this job. He knows his father pays him way more than he should be receiving, but he doesn't question it.

Recently, his father has been pressuring him to drop G and the Bones and either seek alternate employment or take on other bands who have far more potential but guilt and years of friendship are keeping him from making the smart choice.

Up until the age of eleven, when Noah went off to Hogwarts, he essentially grew up on the road with 'the band'. After he began at Hogwarts, his father Greyson began to mentor him on breaks and summers, showing him the ropes, introducing him to important contacts within the Wizarding Wireless Network and beyond.. basically taking him under his wing. His father Greyson is still the tour manager of said band (though nowadays they are considered classic wrock) and is a great pool of knowledge to Noah who is failing to get his best friend's band (G and the Bones) to the same level of stardom as his friend's father's band, even with both of their father's connections and years of experience in the industry.

Despite only actually putting his knowledge to use since graduating at seventeen, Noah has proven to be a very effective manager given his natural capacity to create and maintain connections. He has years of insider information from his father, compared to other band managers, who are likely starting from the ground up with little more than a hope and a dream.

Noah has been approached by several entertainment entities since the start of his flop of a career, those who can see his talent and have -somehow- not faulted him based on the failings of the band he manages. In any universe, you'd have to be blind to see how bad the band truly is. The fact that they somehow still land gigs is truly a testament to Noah's skill as an entertainment manager.
