Merrow
Merrow, derived from murúch, are Merpeople featured in Irish mythology. ( Merrow ) There are few physiological differences between saltwater and freshwater Merrow. The latter have similar features to freshwater Selkie, suggesting strong relations between the two. Merrow skin tones range from fair to green, compared to the green or grey of their Selkie counterparts.
Saltwater Merrow, like other oceanic merpeople, have a magical ability to transform into humans by shedding their pelts. Merrow are unique in that their 'pelts' take the form of a leathery hat called a Cohuleen druith. This "magic hat/hood" is often red and mistaken as feathery from a distance, although its material is similar to salmon scales.
