Joshua does something with the British muggle government. He isn't a spy or anything secretive, Paetyn just doesn't care enough to remember what his actual job title is. It was a total shock to Joshua when his son started displaying magical abilities as he had always believed magic to be children's fancy. He doesn't hate magic as his wife does, but he is very uncomfortable around magic being used.
