Knight did write me a letter - apparently it was pretty rude and inappropriate. I actually never read it myself; I was, gratefully, spared the need to do so but I was informed of the basic concept. And, of course, if you didn't tell him then the letter isn't your fault. No apology necessary. Whether or not it was one-sided I doubt will make much of a difference to Knight; he is deficient and such subtleties are lost on him. I'm not worried about him.
