Ayla paced up and down a section of the third floor corridor just trying to get her thoughts in order. Classes were already done for the day and it wasn't quite time for her to be heading down for evening meal. For once she was actually caught up on all of her school work and had a rare moment to herself. Unfortunately being by herself wasn't doing much to calm her. She couldn't really understand why she was so upset anyways. This whole thing was just a big misunderstanding and it meant nothing and it wasn't like she even cared about him anymore and why couldn't she stop thinking about it?!
She spun around to walk the length of the corridor once again. Her long raven hair was somewhat controlled by a bright yellow hair band. She had one lock wrapped around her finger and was gnawing on it while she paced. Her heart was hammering and she was sure her stomach was trying out for the next Olympic gymnastics team. This whole mess had started to day before. Winnie had rushed up to her in the evening saying she had something really important to tell her. Ayla thought nothing of it because to be honest it was Winnie, she could have been trying to tell her that she had discovered a new freckle on her shoulder and it would have come across as the biggest news of the century. Holy Helga did Ayla ever wish it was just about a freckle.
Instead her friend had rushed on to tell her some odd story about kissing Ambrose and how she had felt nothing and she thought she wasn't doing it right, while he thought it was just because they were such close friends that there wasn't any kind of spark. Ayla thought that was a load of hippogriff dung, Winnie and Ambrose were practically made for each other but that hadn't been the big important news anyway. After rambling on about technique and sparks and what not her best friend had thrown the biggest bombshell of all eternity into her lap.
Winnie kissed Blake!
She didn't even understand how or why it had happened. Winnie said she was just mailing a letter and he was there and she just decided to go for it but there had to be something else going on. You don't just decide to kiss a boy just because he was there and you wanted to see what it was like, right? And you especially didn't just kiss a boy that happened to be the object of your best friends deepest desire. You just didn't do that!
Ayla spun with a huff and started down the corridor again in the opposite direction still gnawing away at the hair wrapped around her finger. She tried to tell herself it was no big deal. Afterall she didn't like Blake anymore. Blake was a jerk! A no good jerk, just like his no good jerk brother! He had stood her up on Valentines and then acted like nothing had even happened and he hadn't even bothered to try and fix things. It didn't matter that Ayla refused to talk to him or wouldn't even stay in the same room with him anymore. So what if she went the long way around the castle to make sure she didn't bump into him between classes or that she stopped going to the library because he might be there studying and flirting with stupid no good Slytherin girls. He was the one that wasn't making the effort to fix things, not her!
She huffed again, "Stupid no good boys and their stupidness. Why should I care if Winnie kissed him, she could damn well marry him for all I care."
