Grace stood rooted in position, now beginning to feel slightly resentful for taking time out of her schedule to do this when she had no idea if the person she was helping would appreciate the effort. She and Chance were polar opposites and somehow she got the feeling that this was just going to turn out horribly.
With a sigh, she stepped further into the office and took a seat into the chair next to her classmate, tilting her chin up slightly and attempting to ignore any looks he might give to her.
Grace bit her tongue and resisted the urge to roll her eyes when Chance used humor about the situation, even attempting to flatter Professor Levartian with a compliment. Instead, she focused on the older woman's sentiments about deferring to her judgment on the partnership. Grace nodded, her doubts about helping momentarily pushed to the side.
But as soon as Chance made the comment about teaching her to lighten up, she bristled. She sat up a little straighter and turned to glare at him, attempting to let him know that she didn't appreciate his assessment of her. But before she could rebuke what he said, Professor Levartian had made the most outrageous suggestion known to the wizarding world.
Chance as a prefect?
"
Him?" she asked incredulously. Her eyes went wide, still shocked with the suggestion and also the fact that she had questioned it outloud. She tried to compose herself and asked in a much calmer tone, "But....I thought a prefect had to be responsible and.....
serious
