[March 19th] Eye Got You (Robin!)

on September 14, 2024, 06:43:01 PM

Around 1pm
St. Mungo's entrance

Lucinda still didn't really feel like existing, non existence just sounded so nice right now. And comfortable to boot.

Staying in her room and licking her wounds...well...she couldn't quite lick her left eye, but staying hidden, safe in her room was the best move for her...though she knew eventually she'd have to come out of there, she needed money, and she supposed she had to get food but that didn't matter to her as much. She also eventually would need to return to her cell to transform...

But she was pulled out for the fact that she'd received an owl from Robin, she'd been helping at the Werewolf Alliance happily but she supposed it was sudden to just...disappear, however it mentioned him having an eye ready for her and...It was like a teacher right? He doesn't have a life outside the Alliance does he?

Tentatively she'd entered St Mungo's, having showered for the first time in a few days and put on clean clothes, a comfortable but size too big hoodie, and some sweat pants, she wandered to the desk and cleared her throat awkwardly.

"Uh...hello." She half croaked before she cleared her voice again. "Um, sorry, I'm looking for a Robin Louvelle?" She kept her arms hidden in her hoodie pocket, she hoped she wasn't coming across as a drug dealer.

"Lucinda!" Robin called out he got back from his lunch break, recognising her from behind. "Just on time. Come on, let's head up to my floor."

He had gone out in his Healer robes, luckily, so they could get straight down to business. The wizard gestured for her to follow him towards the stairs - Creature Injuries was only a floor up, he rarely took the elevator.

"How are you healing up?" he asked in a chipper tone.

It had taken a bit of time but Robin had crafted a glass eye for the young werewolf. Technically it was a wooden eye, of course, and he had sent it over to Odds & Ends to be coated and glazed - they were great at finalising enchantments.

After what had happened to Temple, it was the least he could do.

Lucinda flinched and held herself close as her name was called out, she wasn't expecting him to be there, or to shout for her, part of her wanted to immediately curl into her clothes and disappear like an apparition...except just her body, small confined ball, it'd be nice and cozy she reckoned. And better then being called out in public like that.

She followed the man, keeping herself as small and easy to avoid as possible, though it wouldn't be too possible with the healer around her, though she realized she might just look like his child with how she held herself and dressed.

"Hurts, I sometimes feel better and don't notice it, but suddenly I'll look somewhere and it'll hurt again." She explained quietly. "You know how many glasses I've broken compared to usual?" There'd been a few but she was trying to make a point rather then the exact truth.

She looked up at Robin as they got to the top of the stairs, part of her mind wandered again... "I guess I should of expected you were a Healer outside or something...How'd you find out about my eye though?" She asked, though she felt she knew an answer, healers gossiped, it was known, almost as badly as those drunk at bars.

"... how many glasses I've broken compared to usual?"

He laughed, nodding sympathetically as they climbed the stairs. It was a common complaint with patients who had lost an eye - losing depth perception was tricky, though people eventually got used to it and learned to unconsciously make those estimations.

"Kerrigan told us, actually." Robin answered as he led Lucinda to the recovery ward, which usually had spare room at this time. "Eileen got in touch to ask, you know, about what went down after she read the news."

His voiced warmed at Eileen's name - she wasn't a motherly personality but she was always concerned for the younger members of the Alliance. Lucinda's story about being sent to a WALI camp especially endeared her to Eileen.

Robin waved down a mediwitch as they entered the ward, and the woman nodded at a spare hospital bed. "I'll be along," she chirped.

"You really shouldn't be feeling pain in that eye so I'm going to have a look, yeah?" he motioned for Lucinda to take a seat on the bed but he didn't draw the curtains. "Then we'll see about getting a glass eye fitted."

She felt a knot tighten in her stomach, she hadn't made her way to the Alliance since the night and hadn't really...contacted, so hearing that one of them reached out to find out more details about her despite that all made her feel guilty, and way more then she wanted to really be feeling right now.

She sat herself down on the bed as instructed.

"I'm sorry I didn't like...get in contact, I just never felt great after." She still wasn't but she felt it was implied. "Is everything okay at the Alliance?" She awkwardly removed her eyepatch to reveal her empty socket to the air, she gave a slight wince, though she wasn't sure where it came from, she figured it was mainly mental but she wasn't the doctor, and he was right it shouldn't be at this point...she hoped.

"I don't think Kerrigan likes me." She said a bit quieter with a little bit of humour in her tone.

"The Alliance is fine, don't worry about it," he waved off her apology in good humor.

Getting kidnapped wasn't exactly a walk in the park and nobody expected Lucinda to reach out if she wasn't feeling up to it. People digested trauma in different ways.

Robin lit a small light at the tip of his wand and gestured for her to cover her other eye as he shone the light into the vacant eye socket. All in all, he'd seen plenty of eye injuries in his time as a Healer and about just as many glass eyes.

"If it's any consolation," he snorted as he examined the wound, "I don't think Kerrigan likes anyone in particular. Wild about us on a full moon, though."

The freshly healed folds of the socket appeared to be in good condition, with no chance of infection setting in. He lowered his wand and sighed.

"Pain's probably psychosomatic." Robin offered a rueful smile. "Getting a glass eye in might help with that. How else have you been getting on? Nobody giving you trouble, yeah?"

She didn't really notice the light being flashed into her empty eye other then a slight glow being spotted by her actually existing eye, that was something atleast, she didn't really dare to look into the empty socket so she'd trusted nothing had gone wrong inside of her.

"I knew he was a furry." She sighed. "High paying job was the first clue." She couldn't imagine any other reason someone would become head of the WCU if not for the pay, its a government job, like Professors at Hogwarts it had to pay well for all the hassle right?

She let out a gentle sigh of relief that there wasn't anything wrong, physically, mentally was a mess but she knew where she placed everything. She instead now with the check over done, opted to move herself back a little and cross her arms over her belly.

"I had a kid ask if I was a pirate at Greggs." She said with a shrug, she'd had many more looks then usual, along with comments... "Of course I threatened him with walking the plank if he told anyone. He seemed to love it so atleast I've got that going."

He snorted a laugh. Sometimes it did feel like the only thing keeping Kerrigan from joining their ranks was the fact that he wouldn't be able to observe werewolves on a full moon.

"Kids do love a good pirate," he remarked absently as the mediwitch from earlier joined them carrying a steel tray. "Lana, hey. Thanks for that."

The blonde woman smiled warmly, first at him and then Lucinda. She was short and plump, and a little older than their patient. "Mind if I help? Haven't done a fitting b'fore."

Robin nodded as he turned to examine the objects on the tray: a latched wooden box, a jar of green salve and a beaker of clear fluid. He tapped the box so that it opened to reveal the glass eye staring up at him in Lucinda's eye color.

Using his wand, he levitated the eye and immersed it in the beaker.

"This is pretty straightforward, okay?" Robin shifted his attention back to Lucinda. "Lana here is gonna use a charm to prepare your socket for the eye, that's gonna feel uncomfortable but not painful."

He paused, hesitating, and then continued. "I think it might be better if you tried to put the eye in yourself, get the hang of it from the get go. Most patients, they find it pretty intuitive."

Lucinda smiled gently as the healer approached, her eye looking her over gently before she looked towards the mysterious jars full of mysterious liquids, she wasn't knowledgeable on how this stuff worked, but the green liquid wasn't comforting, as far as she knew it was toilet cleaner, and the other one could be...she wasn't sure, something disgusting like sparkling water?

Terrifying.

"Uh, yeah, its just like, use my wand to pop it in the socket right?" She asked as if it would be so simple on a guess.

"What is the green stuff? Its not mountain dew is it? I can't stand that stuff." She was nervous, especially upon being promised that it wouldn't be nice, especially when it was related to the eye, she hated any form of eye thing let alone to her own eye.

He gestured, palm down, to indicate that one could go either way. "You can use your hands, if a wand doesn't feel intuitive enough. Just make sure you wash them first."

Lana approached Lucinda with a smile, drawing her wand.

"This is a salve, luv..." she pointed at the green stuff. "You dab a little in your socket every night, so it don't dry out, least for the first week or two. Friction is not your friend."

"Yeah, and this is just saline." Robin tapped the rim of the beaker, in which the eye was rolling around in the clear liquid. "Doesn't have to be daily but try and clean your eye on the regular."

He used his own wand to levitate the glass eye so that it hovered between them. Lana motioned to Lucinda to look up. "Straight at me, that's right," she nodded. "It's just going to feel like a pocket of air being blown in, then it's all up to you."

She wanted to nod as she was spoken to, but given it was all to do with her eye now, and putting it in, she didn't feel like moving her head unless she was told to do so, she grimaced however at the mention of friction, inside her eye was an even worse idea. "Should tell drunk me that also." She sighed out at the memories of some very bad hookups she'd had.

The idea of maintaining her eye and socket somewhat put her off, she squirmed in the seat a bit but looked up and obeyed as Robin moved the eye between the two, hovering there...menacingly. part of her wanted to squeeze her eyes shut tight and deny it from access, but she resisted for now.

"What happens if I just...leave it in? Do I need to take it out?" She asked softly, she was certain that if she could, she'd of been told. But it was still something she wanted to ask, the work freaked her out, she knew she'd forget to do something and end up hurting herself or damaging the eye.

Slowly, she took out her wand, cautious not to damage the eye, or her socket, holding the wand by the tip and aimed towards her head with the eye in between she slowly guided it towards her. "No mirror or anything? I uh...can't quite see it coming."

Robin nodded at Lana, who patted down her robes until she came up with a compact mirror that she held up for Lucinda to see what she was doing.

"It ain't squishy like a regular eyeball," he answered as she took charge of the glass eye. "So if you keep it in too long, you'll find your socket starts feeling sore after a couple of days. Not exactly comfortable."

Every now and again he got patients coming in complaining about the aches, not realising they were supposed to give things a rest. It wasn't easy getting used to these things but it was life.

He reached into his pocket to take out a care pamphlet, and laid it on the hospital bed next to Lucinda while she was getting ready to do the deed.

"I mean, it really matters from person-to-person." Robin added, half-smiling. "You'll find what works for you but for now I'd say to take a little extra care, while you're getting used to it."
