Physical Description: Samuel stands around an impressive 6'0, broad shouldered and he's starting to fill into his body. He had a late growth spurt in his teens, and is still filling out from his awkward lanky teenage years. Samuel has a tight curl pattern, often keeping the sides of his hair shorter then the top, occasionally shaving his hair down. Other times he sports an afro. He hides behind a collection of large glasses, t-shirts and pants.

Despite his stature, you can see the impact of his residual childhood trauma. Naturally he will try to take as little space as possible, and can be described as reserved. With his goals and aspirations, he's been trying to put himself out there more.

Personality Description:
When Samuel is in his element, he takes pride in his work. He's dexterous, precise and confident. You can expect him to be short, and a little egotistical when he's working on the floor. With patients and coworkers, he may struggle with the righting-reflex.[1] He has aspirations to work upper management and can be described as a bit of a workaholic.

Outside of work, Samuel may come off as reserved, and well mannered. Underneath the mask, a fountain of endless anxiety. Much like other people in his cohort, he enjoys having fun with and partying with his friends.
History:
Childhood:
Samuel never met his father, and never knew a father figure until he was 8 years old and his mother married her doting American husband that was stationed at RAF Lakenheath. His mother, an immigrate from the Philippines, came to the United Kingdom with all her hopes and dreams. She was told in her village that if she married into a 'white' family, she would be rich, well cared for and be able to support her aging parents.

Well, that didn't happen. She'd found herself with a man twice her age that smelled of old carrots and beer. He took her passport, had her work menial jobs. His mother knew that she couldn't stay in this situation.

Running away from her husband, she made it to a local hospital that connected her to the Philippine Embassy in London. Identifying her a victim of modern human trafficking, she was connected to a human civil rights group that helped her get her passport and identity back. Along with this, his mother received a conclusive grounds letter that allowed her to extend her stay in the UK for an additional 2 years while she worked on getting her permanent residency.

Samuel lived a very modest life with his mom, though much of his early childhood memories were from daycare. His first language was Tagalog, though he forgot much of it as his mom was ashamed of him speaking English with an accent. He watched his mother struggle through learning English, and they lived off of local charities and food pantries. They lived in modest council housing, moving location every few years, while she worked long hours and finally received her GCSEs. She wanted to become a nurse.

Despite her long work-hours and schooling, his mother treasured her time in church, and Samuel grew up with the Catholic faith. It was the one consistency through his every-shifting life, they attended mass every Sunday and he went to Sunday school.

By the time he'd turned 7, his mother had met an American at mass and they fell deeply in love. She was in school for her associate nursing license. His step-father would be stationed in the United Kingdom well past his formative years.

This would be the first time they would live in a home, have all appliances of their own, and furniture of their own. The new family would grow over the next five years, two more siblings he could call his own.

Though there were 'freak' incidents of magic that happened around the house, no one around him assumed it was from him. Samuel was unassuming as a child, and struggled with expressing himself so he didn't tell the adults around him that "the popcorn exploding was my fault", or "the crayon drawings on the ceiling happened because I didn't get a cookie."

He'd get through his primary education and on his 11th birthday received a letter from Hogwarts. His mother cried, fearing her son was cursed by the devil. Thankfully, Samuel wouldn't experience his mother's fears, his step-father was a muggle-born wizard himself, and he explained the benefits of a magical boarding school. His step-father couldn't divorce himself from the muggle world and gave up most-magic to live with and work with muggles.

Hogwarts:
Unsure of himself, the tentative young wizard went to Hogwarts where he was sorted into Ravenclaw. His first few years at school, he struggled with the adjustment of living in the magical world and being away from his mother. His time in school provided him a foundation of stability and consistency where he was able to explore his interests. Samual found friendship and acceptance from his friends and Professors at the school.

By 5th year, he decided he wanted to go into medicine much like his muggle mother. His 7th year he interned at St. Mungos over the summer and took his NEWTs, graduating and taking an internship, initially, on the first floor.

Post Hogwarts:
Samuel completed a general healer apprenticeship in a rural hospital servicing the outskirts of Scotland. It was here he learned generalist-healer skills which made him adept at most common magical ailments. After completing his apprenticeship in Scotland, Samuel made his way back to London where he applied for a surgerical fellowship and got a position on the 4th floor of St. Mungos.

His step-father retired from the U.S. military and his maternal family moved to the United States, whereas Samuel decided to stay in the United Kingdom. Time away from his family has given him an opportunity to make decisions about how he wants to live, find a chosen family and express his identity.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
Samuel splits his time between triaging care in the Emergency Department and working his fellowship for surgical reconstruction on the Spell Damage floor of St. Mungos. There is not much that scares him in terms of external injuries, and he's unphased when he's in his element. For his fellowship, he's focusing on reconstruction surgeries that take up a considerable amount of concentration and knowledge to complete. He's in his first year of his specialization.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
Samuel has a generalist medical background that makes him adept at working the Emergency Department on the Spell Damage floor. A lot of the injuries that come in are simple fixes that take minimal effort for him to assist with. He's punctual with his documentation and willing to be corrected by superiors.
