Plain black walls, carefully inlaid with black marble, lead towards a plain door. Opening it, you find yourself in a circular room with the same black walls and a floor so highly polished that for a moment you think you are standing in water. Around the room is twelve doors, all identical and handle less, illuminated eerily by the blue flames emitting from the candles between the doors. These doors lead to each of the twelve main rooms housed on the ninth floor. A little man greets you. Ready for your tour? Right this way... And through this first door...Ah this room... Large and rectangular, lit by low hanging lamps on gold chains. In the middle is a tub glowing green, surrounded by a few deserted desks. What are those pearly things floating in the water? Oh why those are brains. You are in the Brain Room, where magic of the mind and memories is studied. Ah ah! Don't touch! Those tentacles can cause a good deal of damage! Please, on to the next room.Let's see... What's this sensation? It is as if we are floating in the darkness... And what is that ahead of us... a large multi-hued orb. How strange... Oh of course! This is the Planet Room, where the workings of the universe is studied. Fascinating place... but shall we find our way to the next room?Oh dear, this door seems to be locked, funny. I wonder if this is the famed Locked Room, where the most powerful magic in the world is housed? I hear it is Love... but that is a strange thing to keep locked up. It must be something darker and more sinister. Alohamora! No.. No that doesn't work. Ah well, off to the next room!Now this is a beautiful sight! Look at that! Clocks on every surface! Ticking and Tocking filling the room like feet marching in time! Oh this has to be the Time Room, where the very building blocks of time is studied. Look, there is the huge case with the time-turners. Mighty useful things... Wonder if they would miss one... Ah and look at that beauty. The bell jar. It is what is making all the light dancing around here. Would you look at that, it is like wind trapped in a jar... and look at that egg. There it is, an egg, but as it goes up, it becomes a hummingbird... And now... going down it becomes an egg again. How delightful... But we should be going. Tampering with time is a dangerous thing...Oh dear, please don't go forward. This room could only be... This room HAS to be the Death Room. You can tell. Look... look at the benches lining the walls, that is where the Unspeakables sit to study the veil. I wonder how many have died in this room in the name of research... See the dias in the middle, raised up a bit? That crumbling arch, standing by itself... You can barely see the tattered veil hanging from it... blowing with an unknown wind. I swear.. I can hear the voices of those who died there... We should be going. This room gives me the creeps.Ahh... Finally, the piece de resistance! That's French you know... Means something about... resistance and stuff... Anyway! This room can only be the Room of Prophecy, where all the prophecies ever told are stored... Amazing sight it is... Look at these old things. Some small, some big... Some glowing bright, some faint. But they all have these yellowed labels on them... Look you can almost make out the names. Hmm, I wish we could see the end of the rows... but the candle on this end only reaches so far. I bet it is a sight though. All those futures held in glass... AH AH!! DON'T TOUCH!... If you were to break one of these the prophecy would be lost forever!... I don't wish to lose my job for the likes of you... Let's be going now.Ah finally, the offices. Here you will find the various divisions in the Department of Mysteries. First there is the Time Travel Investigation & Regulation Bureau.. They study time I presume. Interesting bunch of chaps... Oh and there is the Potion & Herbological Research Office, thats where all the strange plants and new potions are studied. I hear it is blown up on a regular basis. Tsk, some ingredients should not be mixed... AH! That noise! This could only be the Spell Experimentation & Research Office... Noisy bunch. I don't know how they can work with all those explosions!!... Oh and that little office? Why that is the Office of Prophetic Records.. It is so small because they spend most of their time in the Hall of Prophecy... Saves space... Ah and finally, the door to the head's office. Miss Analiza Snark... Mighty Fine woman... Scary as hell though... but don't tell her I said that. These Unspeakables are rather frightening... I would rather not cross them... The unspeakable then puts on a pair of Cabalispecs and locates the main source of magic remnants. Using their wand, and the spell Revoficus, they gather the remnants into a specimen jar and return to the DoM. Using the EAR and the Remnant kit, they sort the spells out by what kind of magic they were. After gathering one spell with the EAR, they use the SIC to test it. To do this, they use the EAR like a wand and use the Declaro Incantatum spell to target the dummy. Observing the effects of the magic, they can either figure out what spells were used or they can study them to create new spells.Potion & Herbological Research OfficeComing SoonOffice of Prophetic RecordsTools:Oracular Containment Vessel (OCV)OraculumeterPensieveEnchantment Attraction Rod (EAR)Remnant KitSpells: MemoraferoProcedure: When the Oraculumeter detects a prophecy being told, it pinpoints the location on a map. There should be an unspeakable observing the Oraculumeter at all times. Their partner apparates to the location and tries to find a witness to the prophecy. If there is one, they extract their memory and return to the MoM. Once returned, they use a pensieve to look at the memory of the prophecy, recording the people and dates involved. Once the prophecy is recorded, they use the EAR and Psychic solution from the Remnant Kit to pull the magic of the prophecy from the memory. The prophecy is contained in an OCV and placed in the Hall of Prophecy. The memory is then returned to it's owner. The information recorded is studied for any significance to current events.
