"Former student," Knox explained when a colleague glanced over to see what the little note was from the unusual black-feathered owl. "Roark."
The other professor clicked her tongue. "Should have known that was an Azkaban owl..."
Knox smiled wryly, not above indulging in the cynicism of poor prospects of a student like Atticus Roark who'd wound up expelled. It had been McGonagall's watch, but Knox knew him from his younger years.
Because there was no reason not to, Knox pocketed the note and responded to the positive later that evening along with the rest of his correspondence.
