Hi Ambrose,

Zeta did it. Like she’s been saying all Christmas, she finally got a SAWS meeting sorted last night. Oh brother, it was ugly.

You remember Acrux from the tailors? He turned up at the meeting and ruined it. I was going to write to you to tell you he had turned up at school not-a-vampire but this added to it.

Do you also remember Lucy Temple in my year in your house? Brown hair, intense stare? She told us all she is a werewolf. Not just told us, either. Because Rigel was such an arse, she was showing us her scars. It wasn’t the cool type of scars either. It felt super awkward.

Me and Eta went to the meeting and did our best to help Zeta but I found myself willing a Professor to interrupt us to break it up. Like I’d have thanked Merlin if Storm had opened the door. (Incidentally, he got PD, the non-magic flu thing so we’re writing long essays in his lessons with other professors.)

Zeta’s pretty bummed about how it all turned out. Maybe you could owl her and see if you can cheer her up? Maybe don’t mention I’ve told you about SAWS. She might think I’m dobbing her in. You know?

It was all a bit simpler when all we had to worry about in January was who we were going to ask out for Valentines Hogsmeade weekend. I’m going to be single again, I know it. I’ve just got Akira asking me to help with oddball ‘talking to animal’ plans. (You remember her? “Sweet girl” from the wedding. Like, chocolate bars and boiled sweets.

Wow. SAWS sounds like a fart in a lift. (I learned that one this week.) Pity Acrux didn’t get made into a vampire, but I’m kind of glad because we would have him for E T E R N I TY if he had. I met a vampire at work the other day, actually. I think he knew the lady vampire we met. He wasn’t very nice. Made out I was staring. Not my fault I hadn’t realised one was working here. It was hard to concentrate because Penny Pickler was crying like Amelia does and Ms Ballentyne was shouting and Mr Gamp was trying to calm it down. Kayla was totally eavesdropping. She’s funny.

I think I remember Lucy Temple, yeah. Poor her! That kind of sucks. Though Penny says that we shouldn’t define people by their afflictions. So I should probably say ‘that is unfortunate to have happened to you Lucy. I am glad you are she is in good health’. I think that’s right. I sometimes get lost when Penny uses lots of P words. She gives cool handouts later though. Makes it easier for me to understand. Mrs Lanningham has showed me how to file like a pro. I think she even looked at me with pride the other day. Hah, pride. That begins with P.

You are soooo lucky not to have Storm. Like. Is Hogwarts normal? I mean, apart from the whole SAWS being a total disaster and Lucy being turned into a werewolf.

I will try to write Zeta a letter. If she guesses you told me then I am sorry. You know I am not very good at being sut suh shut in very laboured letters: s u b t l e. (What the heck is that spelling. I had to ask Gabrielle.)

You should totally ask Akira out for Hogsmeade weekend. She’s nice. You’d never need any sweets ever again, and it’s easy to get her something every occasion. Like, sweets. Duh. Easy. The key to not being single is to ask people. I mean the girls pretty much asked me but they were always way more organised like that. You’re a Ravenclaw. You’re meant to be organised so the girls will expect you to ask. Why, if not Akira, who else? Do you have the hots for Eirene? Haha!

Whatever you do, don’t ask dad for advice. He’ll probably talk to you about how not to get a disease. Uncle Monty is your man. Ever since he kept his whole American life from us secret I think she could keep secrets better than an unspeakable.

I got to go, it is my turn to change Amelia and I think I can smell it from here. Yuck. Dad keeps saying it will put me off doing something with a girl to have a kid of my own. Yeah, that is why I say don't ask him. DON'T DO IT TIM.
