[June 25--] Across Continents [Maddie] on October 19, 2014, 07:13:29 PM Dated June 25th, the letter is a bit weather-worn, though it's tied together with a blue ribbon. To the Birthday Girl,I know you'll forgive me for being a day (or maybe a couple days by the time you get this - I have no idea how long it'll take an owl to deliver this) late in wishing you a happy birthday. Especially because I'm going to find something perfect to bring back for you. I haven't found it yet, but I'll know it when I see it. I have a sixth sense for picking out gifts.Hopefully your birthday was everything you hoped it would be and more. Do you feel older yet? A lot of people say twelve is the turning point to getting old, you know. Pretty soon you'll start losing your hair and your teeth. (I'm only joking - you've got at least one more good year left before your memory starts getting spotty.)This is my first time going to another continent and it's already more amazing than I can put into words! We're in Cambodia right now, and it's such a change from England. I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun if you were here. There are plenty of adventures to be had.Well, I suppose I'd better send this letter off now. The owl I'm using is looking incredibly impatient with me, so hopefully he's in a better mood by the time he reaches you. Make sure that you write me back and tell me all about your birthday!Love and wishes,Nell Skip to next post Re: [June 25--] Across Continents [Maddie] Reply #1 on October 21, 2014, 11:11:25 PM The Most Honourable Chairwoman of the World, Madeleine WhitmanJune 28th, 2010Nell AugustineThank you so much for your letter and birthday wishes! It arrived only a tad late, but the owl's delivery was spot on. It practically dive bombed my mum, which was hilarious. She was beyond livid. Best breakfast we've had in ages. And I had a lovely birthday, Theo took me to the beach and got me a teacrup! Her name is Bijoux, and she's adorable.Cutest thing ever, right? It was a small party, but Linus and Theo made sure that I had a wonderful time and my parents even got me a new broom, a Starsweeper XI. It's crazy fast, and I think that Theo looked like he was about to have a heart attack after I did a barrel roll (don't tell him that I said that, he has an image to maintain after all). I thankfully have yet to get a grey hair or have my memory start to fade, but now I have to worry about you. Maybe I'll get you a nice cane for your birthday. Don't want you to fall and break your hip.I hope that you are still having an amazing time on the trip! Don't let that gloomy friend of your's, Nico, be a total sourpuss. He is going to be the only person to have a brow furrow before turning 16. We'll have to get together when you get home, and I expect pictures of your travels. I'll bring Bijoux along, too.Sending you love and good weather on your travels,Maddie ❤ Skip to next post Re: [June 25--] Across Continents [Maddie] Reply #2 on December 31, 2014, 12:36:59 AM July 2ndDear Maddie,I'm in Thailand now! Honestly, I think you jinxed it when you sent me good weather on my travels. We just got hit with a MONSOON a couple of days ago. It was insane and brilliant.I had no idea that teacrups existed, but that is the most precious thing I think I've seen. It would make a fantastic prop in a magic show (much more interesting than a rabbit from a hat). Oh, sometimes I forget that you might not get my Muggle references. Look it up.I found the best gift for you while shopping today. I'll be sure to give it to you once I get back to England. Normally I'd send it to you, but I'm not sure how trustworthy this owl is (she looks a bit old) and who knows what could happen across seas.Tomorrow we start heading for Burma - another new and exciting place to add to my map of places I've traveled! And don't worry, I'm making sure that Nico isn't grumpy for the entire trip. I think he may even been enjoying himself a little. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your birthday, and hopefully this owl will be a little more polite in her entrance than the last one.As always, your friend,Nell Skip to next post Re: [June 25--] Across Continents [Maddie] Reply #3 on January 04, 2015, 11:53:55 AM July 6thNell! A monsoon?! Is everyone okay? I shall never wish anyone good weather or luck ever again. I didn't realize the power I wielded.Yes, Bijoux is beyond adorable, and I am training her to be well-behaved. She's quite intelligent, so I'm sure she'd be a great prop for a magic show. (I have access to the Internet when I stay over with Theo, so I actually got that reference!) And thank you so much for the gift. I am certain that I will love it. But it is probably best to not send it, based on the weather you've had.I am so jealous that you are getting to travel. I have been spending most of my summer either staying with Theo or Linus, but I'll have to go back to staying with my parents soon. Hopefully the rest of the summer goes by quickly. While I don't miss all of the classes, I miss seeing everyone. Continue having a great trip, but without that monsoon business! I really hope that I didn't jinx you again.
