Full Character Name: Madeleine Eloise Sophia Whitman
Character Birthday & Age: June 26th, 1998, age 12
City & Country of Birth: London, England
Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Halfblood-ish. 1/4 Veela, 3/4 Pureblood.
House & Year: Gryffindor, First year

Wand: 11 ½”, cedar, Veela hair core, supple with a spiraled shaft. Very in tune with her protective nature towards her loved ones, and quite powerful.

Physical Description:
A tall girl for her age, and likely to get taller still, Madeleine works hard to carry herself with the elegance befitting a young woman of her breeding. Her long, golden blonde hair is sleek and perfectly coifed, and her expressive cornflower blue eyes give her a sense of innocence that isn’t a complete façade – however, she isn’t quite the wide-eyed maiden that some might expect.

Many find her to appear almost doll-like, and certainly her porcelain skin does nothing to dissuade those comparisons, with a certain fragility that sparks a desire to protect her within those who interact with Maddie. Her adorable appearance promises to evolve into an elegant and timeless beauty, though she has a rough-and-tumble side, and scuffed knees and bruises from practicing Quidditch (or being tossed off the back of a wild winged horse after jumping on the back of it on a dare) are not uncommon, much to her older brother’s eternal chagrin.

Maddie has perfected the pouty lips, and when she puts on her puppy dog eyes even the most hardened of people find themselves cooing and giving into whatever she wants – which she makes full use of as the baby of her family. Especially in order to guilt her parents into buying gifts for herself and Theo due to the terrible neglect they have received from them.

Personality Description:
Puts the precious in precocious

A stranger comparing the two Whitman siblings would find it to be like comparing night and day, Madeleine’s cheerful and sunny disposition in stark contrast to Theo’s quiet and potentially sociopathic leanings. Though woe betide to anyone who suggests that to Maddie, as she is fiercely protective of her older brother Theo, and won’t allow any cruel remarks to be said about him in her presence. Truly, if a single title could sum up Maddie it would be a guardian.

Maddie has often been described as fearless, but if one gets to know her they realize that is actually not true. In fact, she is afraid of many things, but has an attraction to challenges and testing herself – which has given her a bit of a reputation as a daredevil. She’s been like this since a very young age, when she wanted Theo to give her attention and overcame her fear of snakes just so that she’d be able to spend time with him. Due to this, she is quite dauntless and isn't intimidated by people or situations that would give pause to many other people.

She thrives on attention, and loves to be included and admired, much of which stems from having been largely neglected by her parents. She can be a bit of a prima donna in this regard, and is a natural performer. However, she isn’t selfish, and heaps love and support on those around her, making sure that no one is lacking in encouragement and understanding. Due to this, she hates it when others are quick to judge people, without taking the time to get to know someone, as she feels that everyone is deserving of affection.

A downside to Maddie’s devotion towards other people is that she can sometimes place their needs above her own. This is especially obvious in her relationship with Theo, as she strives constantly to make him happy and proud to call her his sister.

Despite all of her sweetness, she has many similarities to her brother, including a shrewd intellect and (if one hurts a loved one) a vicious temper. Her insightful questions and perceptiveness shock many who interact with her, as Maddie rarely shows the sharp mind behind the adorable exterior in order to better manipulate those around her. Theo is one of the few who she doesn’t put on an act around in order to gain attention, mostly because he knows better than to be fooled. She also has the lofty aspirations of a child who has been told by her brother that she should never settle for anything less than the best. As such, she plans on being the benevolent queen of the world, the greatest Quidditch player ever, and a dragon tamer. And don’t think to dissuade her from her goals, as that only steels her resolve further.

Surprisingly, she is quite reserved about discussing personal matters, and rarely fully opens up to other people. Though she is quite open about listening to other people’s issues and helping them sort out any problem. She strives to help everyone reach their greatest potential, and making sure that everyone has at least one person (herself) who supports and believes in them.

History:
The younger sister of Theo Whitman was born during the “time of peace”, before Theo’s temper had reared its ugly head, and Gareth and Idara Whitman assumed that they were blessed with a cherubic son. Madeleine instantly won over nearly everyone in the household, except for her older brother, as she was little more than a gurgling lump – utterly useless in the little boy’s eyes. However, as the two angel-faced children grew up, Maddie became quite imprinted on Theo, as their parents were largely absent from their lives and she craved attention.

Eventually, Theo learned that Madeleine was a surprisingly precocious child, full of questions and insights, and an uncanny ability that eventually grew to being able to mollify her older brother when he had one of his tantrums. Which she would often do by performing the “magic tricks” that children make up, her most popular being one where she would “eat” her eye.

The adults noticed that Maddie appeared to have a positive effect on the temperamental boy, and kept them together throughout their childhood, which had the side effect of causing the young girl to mature at a much faster pace. She would tag along with her brother, and play with the older kids – making sure to hold back her tears when she would get injured during some of the more rough games. However, she became distraught when Theo received his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts, and nearly succeeded in sneaking onto the Hogwarts Express by hiding in his trunk. After he left, she became quite withdrawn for some time, often hanging in his room and talking with Theo’s collection of snakes (though without Theo to translate the conversations, they were mostly one-sided, which did little to help the lonely little girl). Thankfully winter break came soon, and she had Theo regale her with all of the exciting stories of school, and tell her about spells he learned.

Her life continued in a similar fashion until one day she was playing outside in the spring. Theo was nearly finished with his second year at Hogwarts, she was looking for snakes for him to add to his collection. A man grabbed her while she was focused in her search, and held her captive for nearly two weeks. At first he behaved violently towards Maddie, and she still bears a scar on her hip from the initial struggle, but her Veela charm affected him and caused him to not harm her once he had gotten her away from the Whitman home. The man became conflicted, and would switch between threatening her with violence, and sobbing on her while begging for her forgiveness. Eventually, the young Maddie was able to appeal to his better nature and he released her back to her family – most importantly, Theo.

After the incident, Maddie was traumatized, and locked herself in her room. She became sickly, and often refused to eat. After a few weeks of seemingly no improvement, her parents (who had never been known for patience) decided to have her memory of the event Obliviated, and false memories planted. The procedure was mostly successful, though they weren’t able to completely remove all memories, as it would risk giving the girl brain damage, and instead opted to bury them deep within her subconscious. As such, she often has night terrors about a crying man hurling threats and accusations at her. Though she has only told Theo about the details of the recurring nightmare. Beyond that, Maddie was returned to her normal self, believing that she received the scar from falling out of a tree. She was once again the happy and charming girl who entertained her parents’ guests at parties, and trailed after her brother Theo. However, there was a change in the boy, as Maddie no longer had to force her presence on him, which delighted the young girl.

It wasn’t too long before Maddie received her own letter to Hogwarts, and she excitedly prepared for her first year at Hogwarts, begging Theo to teach her basic spells and how to brew some simple potions to give her a leg up on the competition. She met the little scamp, Linus Hughes, on the Hogwarts Express and the two became fast friends, and both being sorted into Gryffindor. Outwardly, she expressed disappointment that she wasn’t in the same House as her beloved brother, but in actuality, she was actually pleased. Maddie didn’t want to simply be defined as Theo’s younger sister, and felt that being in Gryffindor would allow her to forge her own separate identity. She still spent much of her time with her brother and his peers, especially Raine Almasy and Alexandra Carstairs (who Maddie had known nearly her entire life, and viewed as an older sister), but the sweet, young girl was generally liked by her fellow students – despite Theo’s fearsome reputation. In a short amount of time, Maddie had developed her own reputation, as one of the princesses of Hogwarts, complete with her own royal guard even. The few foolish enough to torment her quickly learned that one did not make the younger sister of Theo Whitman cry.

With her first year having been quite a success, Maddie is hoping to be even greater her second year. Truly, princess is so passé. Queen on the other hand…

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Maddie shows incredible bravery by facing down her fears, and not allowing them to control her. She is also someone who labels herself as a protector of other people, and her loyalty to her loved ones is admirable. Yes, she has a certain disregard for the rules (though one would never know, as she is skilled at not getting caught due to Theo’s mentoring), and a calculating mind full of ambition, but she would not hesitate to sacrifice herself to protect someone she cares about.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
The warm and sunny Madeleine is the last person anyone would expect to be related to Theo Whitman. But she takes great pride in being his little sister, and thinks the world of her big brother. Theo has described Maddie’s Veela charm as redundant with her personality, and she truly is a good human being. She is still a Whitman, though, and has a very cunning intellect, which she makes ample use of in her relations with people.

Special Ability

Character Name: Madeleine Whitman
Age: 11
Character Biography: http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=16644.0
Do any of your other Characters have Special Abilities?: Yes
If Yes, then Please provide their name and a link to their bio: Evangeline Verglas

Special Ability: Veela Charm

What level is this ability at?: Advanced

At what age did your character gain this ability?: Birth

How did they learn or hone this ability?:
In utero. The Veela charm is a passive ability that requires no effort on her part to maintain.

Describe how the Special Ability influences their life.  What do they use it for?:
Her charm has saved her life, and has probably influenced her life in many subtle ways. Making people more protective of her and endeared by her. However, her brother Theo has told her that her Veela charm is redundant with her personality, as her ability causes her to worry that it's the only reason people care about her.

Write a description of what happens when your character is exhibiting this Special Ability: Veela charm being a passive ability, it is constantly activated and doesn't have any effect on Maddie. However it makes people (generally men) around her more protective towards her, and more prone to rash acts in order to win her favor. Though, it can be resisted by those with strong will, and she is drawn to those personalities, because she doesn't have to worry that they only care for her because they are affected by her Veela charm.
