A brute riddled with the same of being bullied, Caspian is a man full of rage and laughs.
Physical
There's a reason Caspian's teammates nicknamed him 'zver', the direct Russian translation for 'beast'. At 6'3, the Durmstrang grad is physically imposing, and oxen-built after an unforgiving fitness regime that involves lots of weights, and lots of egg whites. His cruel body is covered with a sprinkling of thick black hair, and his skin oscillates from an off-white in the winter, to a light olive in the summer.
Naturally, his hair is a mess of black, thick knots. Of course, he buzzes it all off. That means there's even more focus on his heavy features; a wide jaw, wide nose and brown eyes so dark they're almost black. Some would consider him handsome. Most would say he's slightly terrifying. Both things can be true.
When he's not in training gear, Caspian can usually be found in huge cargo trousers, white T-shirts and anything that has a vague whiff of the military. One: because they're comfortable for a man of his size. And two: he watches way too many muggle action films in his free time.
Personality Description
On the surface, Caspian is a bully, a hedonist, a brute and a big ego personified. He can quickly oscillate between deep-bellied cackles and full on, in-your-face threats – and that change can take seconds. He sees most introductions as a means of gaining power; anyone that feels like a rival is to be prey, anyone else can be a friend.
To those people in his circle, Caspian is funny, silly and the person you want at a party. To those outside, he is unreasonable, bad-tempered and belligerent, often going as far to self-sabotage if it means bringing someone else down. Plus, he's all but happy to throw hands. Or wands. Or both. Brawling is in his blood.
But underneath the bravado, Caspian is very much the hunted-turn-hunter. His early days at Durmstrang were filled with victimisation as an outsider. So, since he couldn't join them, he beat them. Ever since, Caspian made a silent oath to never be on the bottom, and never let anyone take his crown.
History
Born in Leeds, Yorkshire, to a British wizard who made shoes (Hubert) and a Georgian muggle (Magdalena) who served as a teaching assistant at the local university (Magdalena), Caspian is from a surprisingly loving home. It was also a gentle one. Two years after he was born, Caspian was joined by a younger brother, Cadiz, who was also treated like a cherub. Hubert and Magdalena were honest and good, if not a little too soft. Voices were never raised. Hugs were in abundance. And money, sadly, was very tight. The Caens were not a wealthy family by any stretched – but they were happy.
When Caspian began to exhibit some magical talents – a neighbour's cat inexplicably turned a shade of bright green one Sunday morning, much to Caspian's delight – talk turned to education. Hubert was keen to send his eldest son to Hogwarts. But Magdalena, with an increasingly ill mother back in Tbilisi, asked for other options. Since she wanted the family to move closer to her roots, Hubert was in touch with some old friends about Durmstrang. He'd heard that is was a lot coarser to the Hogwarts experience, but if it mean the Caens could all be closer then... what's the worst that could happen?
Well, it wasn't great. Caspian arrived to Durmstrang afraid and alone. Although fluent in Georgian, and some Russian, his thick Yorkshire accent was ridiculed by classmates – as was his halfblood heritage. Not many people know how, or why, this strange bumpkin had gotten his way in. For his first two years, Caspian was increasingly isolated and bullied by his peers. His upbringing had encouraged kindness, and he was met with only cruelty. Buckets of icy water were poured over him as he slept. Food was thrown. His voice grew silent. And all the while, a quiet rage was bubbling inside Caspian.
He began to practice hexes and charms alone, and put the isolation to good use; in the forests surrounding Durmstrang, Caspian developed a makeshift fitness routine. He'd move logs. He'd scale trees. He'd run for hours on end. He grew bigger, and stronger, and smarter, slowly plotting his revenge. One day, an elder student went to scorch a hole in his robes. Caspian responded with a quick counter-hex, sending the bully through a nearby window. He climbed through, and took his fists to the student's face for what seemed like an eternity until he was dragged off.
At Durmstrang, self-defence is applauded. And though Caspian remained at a distance from his classmates, word spread that this young man had the power of a monster. He'd act with a slight menace, and he began to walk with a little swagger. Girls started saying hello to him. Boys started giving him a nod in the hallway. And over the years, and over several more confrontations, Caspian became known as a sleeping giant of chaos. Over the years, he insisted to his parents that Cadiz go to Hogwarts to spare him the pain he'd suffered. In reality, he didn't want anything disrupting his newfound power.
He took the new muscle to the Quidditch pitch, and was a natural beater. A bludger from Caen was nigh on a death sentence, and the bruises came thick and fast for both his opponents and his teammates that dared to defy him. Durmstrang played an instrumental part of sharpening a soft Yorkshire-Georgian lad into a dragon, and his talent was soon scouted by local teams.
After a bidding war, Caen signed a lucrative contract with the Vladivostok Vipers, a successful team based on Russian's far eastern coast. He continued on with rage, and muscled his way to the captainship in just a few years. Other offers came, but he always declined. Vladivostok piled on the salary, and Caspian was sending much of it back to his family in Georgia, and stockpiling some for Cadiz. In his downtime, the beater had expensive tastes, too; the parties often went until 4am, and newspapers were often splashed with magical photos of Caspian leaving a club, an arm around a young lady, or two. Or, sometimes, a young man. Caspian was just there for a good time.
In recent years, his grandmother's health deteriorated further, and she sadly passed away. His parents decided to relocate back to the UK, and Cadiz was well into his own professional journey back in London. So, Caspian ordered his agent to trigger a bidding war among British teams. The Falmouth Falcons dropped a huge salary offer. He accepted. The headlines of the Vladivostok Villain coming to the UK came quickly. And now, Caspian is here to take it for himself.
As a Quidditch star, the now famous 'Caen manoeuvre' is one that involves brute force, and isn't averse to friendly fire. On several occasions, he's sacrificed one of his own chasers with a bludger if it means taking down several opposition team members too. His methods are not widely appreciated, but they are effective.
