Cassius Inglethorpe is an American wizard, currently head of the Office for Magic Relations and Education at CAWW (Congress of American Witches and Wizards). He is an articulate and magnetic personality, whose influence is on the rise. Cassius is never seen without his distinctive glasses or sense of style.
Many consider him to be a sensible political figure, sensitive to the needs and wants of the people. In reality, Cass is a perceptive man and knows how to use his observations to get what he wants. His moral compass shifts in accordance with his desires. He plays himself up as an intensely patriotic person, though in reality this is just one of many cards he plays to benefit his reputation.
In 2017, Inglethorpe is elected to the position of CAWW Governor.
History
Cassius was born the youngest son of a large family. His parents were both muggleborn wizards and neither were particularly well-off, leaving Cass the receiver of many hand-me-downs. However, he never wanted for company or scholarship. His father being a magical Historian and his mother an Unspeakable at Eldritch & Profane, Cassius was brought up to believe that knowledge is power.
As a young boy, he mumbled and stuttered behind thick eyeglasses. Adolescence brought out a different aspect in him - like many youngest children, having to compete with the personalities of older siblings, Cassius really came into his own whilst at Salems.
He learned what most wixes only come to know as fully grown adults (or white-haired ones for that matter). Cassius learned that knowledge is only as powerful as how you use it, and how you control its flow.
Cassius went on to work for Eldritch & Profane but it turned out to be a short stint, lasting only a couple of years before he joined the Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation. Over the years he would move between various departments, often moving up but sometimes parallel. He made powerful friends in the Bureau, with whom he never lost touch.
In 2012, Cassius was promoted to head of the Office for Magic Relations and Education. His motto in this position is that a country is only as good as the varied and diverse education it can provide its people. Cassius is well-known and reasonably popular.
