Scotland the Brave (Wizarding version)
Scotland the Brave is one of the "unofficial national anthems" of Scotland. At the Hogmanay feast at MacFusty Castle in early 2008, Angus MacFusty and Jason MacDonell, both of whom were intensely proud of their Scottish heritage and had been drinking for a few hours, "revised" the song to reflect Scotland's wizarding history.

References and Development
The first verse references the Hebridean Black dragon; the MacFusty Clan have served as custodians of this beast for centuries, and Angus MacFusty refused to allow any wizarding Scottish anthem that did not mention it. Equally insistent was MacDonell in referring to Rowena Ravenclaw, who was herself from Scotland, and in whose House MacDonell had been at Hogwarts; she is "the fairest Raven" in the first line of the last verse.
Other Wizarding references are:
- The reference to kelpies in the second verse is specifically about the Loch Ness Kelpie.
- Creaothceann, an extremely dangerous Scottish predecessor of Quidditch, made illegal in 1762
- Hogsmeade Village, the only all-Wizarding locale in Britain (the "wizards' haven")
- Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Omitted Lyrics
As the night wore on and MacFusty and MacDonell continued to drink and create, they came up with a fourth verse:
Quintapeds they prowl on Drear,
Eat you up if you draw near!
We’ve many beasts to fear, but Scotsmen fear nothing!
Except our Scottish wifies,
Those redheads, they’ll end your life-y…
Here she comes! She’s got a knife-y! That’s gonna sting...
Drear refers to the Isle of Drear at the far north of Scotland, which is the only known home of the extremely lethal monster, the Quintaped.
At the "suggestion" of Celia MacFusty and Aurora MacDonell (both of whom were redheads), the fourth verse was omitted from the final version.
