Roland Dylanis IX is a man of ambition, power, and no small measure of wealth to back both of them up. The only reason he's not sitting in the Governor of Magic's chair right now is because he chose not to take it, knowing full well that choosing to raise Rou first would set his ambitions back for some years but not stop them entirely.
